This is brilliant news and what a 6 months the boy has had.

I just hope and pray to fuck he isnt another Colin Montgomerie and freeze every time he gets into the biggie.

I reckon this guy could become one of the Greatest ever Scots sportsmen if he carries on......

Still only 21 and his commitment really puts to shame some of our fat lazy basturts in the Gers team. (tu)

Well done Muzza and keep it up :unionflag:

Tremendous performance by Murray, Roddick is one of the most powerful players on the tour yet Murray completely blew him away today, his shots were so accurate and well thought out. Some of his winners really were a joy to watch. Fingers crossed for the Australian Open, he certainly has the game to go close.

Come on Andy :unionflag:

I remember some prick on here (Vienna something) having a right go at me via PM two years ago for suggesting that Murray could cement a place in the world's top three.

Get it round you, you Austrian twat :idiot:

There's a few players at Rangers that could learn from that.

Every single one of them Scottish, sadly.

I've decided that English people are truly pathetic.

Check out this belter from said English twat on 606:

I think it deranged to apply the words "Murray" and "Class" in the same sentence. His demeanor and appearance resemble more closely that of one of the Scots sitting in doorways on Tottenham Court Road huddled with a tin of Special brew asking for change. He is not a class act in any way shape or form.

Oh dear.

Racist AND stupid all in the one go! As bad as the t****.

I don't understand why so many call him "arrogant". He's one of the most humble guys on the tour and has never shown a lack of respect to any player. Granted, he's a little touchy on court but would you rather we had another Henman? No thanks.

He's bulked up tremendously over the last few months, and as such he now has the power to go with his special array of shots.

With 8 consecutive wins against the top 3, and with Federer and Djokovic out of form, (Djokovic lost in the 1st round in Brisbane last week to Ernest Gulbis) he has a terrific chance of gaining at least the number 2 spot by the end of the year.

I think he will get 3rd, but when the tour moves from hard courts to clay later in the year, his results will suffer. On hard courts right now I think he is in the top 2 in the world, grass he is top 5 or 6 but on clay he wouldnt make the top 30

ut still lets enjoy this while we can eh?

Its funny how you say that papa, my mum was looking on yahoo and there were a few people slagging murray off too, but it was only his appearance, it seems now they cant have a go at his tennis as he has upped his game, obviously he is not the finished article but its safe to say he is on top form at the moment

Could not disagree more with regards to Andy's clay court prospects.

He's not really had a chance to show what he's capable of on the surface yet. In 2007 he was injured whilst playing a stunning match against Filippo Volandri and missed the rest of the Clay season as a result. At last years French Open he played well until the 3rd round where he lost to Clay specialist Nicholas Almagro, arguably top 5 on the surface, which was no shame.

He grew up practicing on Clay courts in Spain, and before he blossomed into the player he is, he always considered Clay to be his best surface. But the main point is that he has made an incredible overall improvement to both his tennis game and his strength, and has worked hard on the surface, so he has a chance of doing well on it this year.
