River Plate is hoping to reinforce its squad with plenty of quality this season and, according to reports, is in negotiations with Ajax Amsterdam's former Dutch international Edgar Davids.

Apparently the 35-year-old is a keen follower of Argentine soccer, and is interested in a move to River. Reports indicate that the defensive midfielder could join the Buenos Aires giants for one year.

With a good deal, Davids would jump at a move to the club. He is hoping to end his career in Argentina, and his preferred choice would be River.

Davids, who was born in Suriname, South America, has been out of action for many months due to injury, but is motivated to return to professional soccer this year.

River boss Nestor Gorosito has said he is searching for an established defensive midfielder, but he has yet to reveal that this could be Davids.

Since making his professional debut with Ajax in 1991, Davids went on to play for European giants AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and Inter Milan. Prior to his return to Ajax, he played for Tottenham Hotspur.

Remember how good Seedorf and Davids were in midfield in ISS Soccer on the PS1? :)

 That Holland team was incredible, Bergkamp up top was different class.

They were quality in ISS '98 aswell, the one with Ravanelli and Ince on the cover. The Brazillian forward 'Ronarid' was almost unplayable.

Anyway, what a way to end your career for Davids if that happens. Argentinian football is utterly mental, well, the fans are anyway!
