Cesar Sanchez is set to put the finishing touches on his switch from Tottenham to Valencia on Friday.

The Primera Liga outfit have confirmed the 37-year-old goalkeeper will undergo a medical around midday before being officially presented to the media.

Spaniard Cesar, who has played for Real Madrid during his career, joined Tottenham from Real Zaragoza last summer but has found his chances limited at White Hart Lane, where Heurelho Gomes has been the preferred stopper.

Valencia have been searching for goalkeeping reinforcements after first-choice custodian Renan Brito suffered an injury last weekend and is set to be sidelined for around six weeks.

Spurs, meanwhile, have been linked with several goalkeepers during the transfer window, including Shay Given of Newcastle and recently Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini.

It' no surprise that Cesar is leaving, some of Harry Redknapp's comments about him have been extremely disparaging to say the least!

"If I had confidence in the Spanish goalkeeper, I would have played him."

He's been ripping into a number of his players recently.

I think the size of the task in hand at Spurs has just hit him after his inital honeymoon period.

tbh he's walking a fine line between 'honesty' and outright insulting.

Ultimately a team's fate is the manager's responsibility and if your team is playing like crap, you can't blame the individuals all the time.

Harry Redknapp is a 'stop a diddy team being relegated' manager. He has never managed a club of this size and it's currently being shown why that's the case.

He's out of his depth tbh - managers of clubs this big do NOT slaughter their players like this.

Very true, Harry looked like a picture of exasperation on Wednesday night. Too many underachievers in his team.

Reports today are saying he will play a weakened team against Man Utd this weekend. Might let guys like Adel Taarabt come in and stake a claim.

Very good post (tu)

A lot of the Spurs players look like they need a reassuring arm around them from time to time, yet 'Arry is more likely to give them a doing in the media.

Hugely damaging for morale.
