Boab
Walter Smith tried out a new formation when Rangers played AC Milan ten days ago, but the Ibrox boss won't be tempted to run a repeat against Celtic on Sunday. The last time the Ibrox side went across the city they won 4-2 with Daniel Cousin and Kenny Miller up front. Against AC Milan it was John Fleck and Kyle Lafferty in attack, but Smith will change it around. "That was just a chance for us to give a run out to a couple of the young boys up front and see how they handled playing against a team of that quality," he said. "It's not something we are really considering. It was just something we were wanting to look at." It's pure Walter Smith for you. Maybe he's double bluffing though He might go 4-4-2 with McCulloch on the left and Boyd/Miller up front though. Oh dear

gary2006
if smith plays mcculloch wide left and miller up front on his own in a totaly negative 4 5 1 i think we will strugle to get a goal i think we all know boyd will start on the bench but if fleck start's on the bench i will be gutted i think fleck has brought a freshness and a creative edge to the team rangers should go to parkhead with a 4 3 3 formation and go right for the throat from the first whistle celtic are a poor team but if we sit back and invite pressure and lose the first goal we will be lucky to leave with a point

Gaffbear
I would have a problem going 4-5-1 as long as Fleck and Naismith were wide and Davis and Mendes were in the middle with either ma Baw or Edu. He needs to keep McCOOOlluch away from Defensive midfield in my opinion......away from the stadium just to be safe
Stuart_RFC
To be fair, i think he is right not to go with it v the tims. People are reading too much into this friendly with AC Milan. Quality side yes, and we did play well especially first half, but going to snake mountain is an entirely different challenge. Obviously against a much weaker side than AC, but it will be much more end to end, rather than the quality of football we saw at Ibrox v Milan. He will go 4-5-1 v the tims and try and over run them in the midfield and play Miller up front on his own. What we will have this time though is Fleck in left midfield to get at that walloper Hinkel as Charlie Adam was utter brutal against him.

But, i think we all know that won't be the case. -------------McCulloch---------- -Davis--Mendes--Ferguson---Fleck- ----------------Miller---------------- Will be how Walter sets it up.
