Boab
ST MIRREN manager Gus MacPherson last night expressed his delight after finally landing a left-back in the shape of Mo Camara. Less than a week after being snubbed by Ian Harte, the Buddies boss clinched the signing of the former Celtic defender until the end of the season. The move is subject to international clearance, with an option to extend his deal by another year. Saints were able to sign the 33-year-old Guinea international outside the transfer window as he became a free agent following his release from Derby earlier this month. MacPherson was left stunned last Friday when former Leeds star Harte pulled out of a deal to move to Paisley at the last minute. But MacPherson confirmed he has definitely got his man this time. He said: "All we're waiting on now is the international clearance coming through from the FA - but the main thing is the contracts have been signed and Mo is now a St Mirren player." And the Saints gaffer revealed the publicity generated from Harte's dramatic about-turn had helped him land Camara. MacPherson said: "The Harte situation from last week actually worked in our favour as it has appeared to have alerted people within the game that we were looking for a left-back. "So we received a phone call telling us that Mo Camara was a free agent - it has worked in our favour. Mo showed he was very keen to come back up here to play so things went very smoothly and it was all done in a matter of 48 hours." Camara, who spent one season with Celtic in 2005-06, has 79 caps for Guinea and played for Wolves and Burnley before spending almost four months on loan from Derby at Blackpool at the start of this season. MacPherson added: "When you see at what level Mo has performed, he is a quality player. "There was interest from Leeds but he talked about how he enjoyed his time up here with Celtic so he believes he can come here and enjoy his football again. http://www.<No links to this website>/sport/2009/02...86908-21119538/

Fiogh
his performence in Bratislava I went to watch Burnley vs Blackpool aerlier in the season, Imagine my delight when Mo Camara lined up at LB for Blackpool. Even better was he used to play for Burnley and they hated him so just got to abuse him all game. Wade Elliot ripped him about 3 times in a row, good times. Guest Andypendek
Both are premier examples of the value placed on athleticism/workrate rather than ability in Scotland, although at least Big Kirkegaard doesn't try to come it like some fabby winger.
