Rock solid defence could be springboard to the Title

535 (give or take some injury time) since Lovell scored for Falkirk at Ibrox, a run that will hopefully be extended in our next fixtures:

Killie (H)

Hamilton (A)

ICT (H)

St M (A)

Its already our longest run without conceeding since the Cueller/MacGregor inspired run of shutouts that ended almost a year ago to the day.

Bougherra's performance against Septic today was rock solid and oozing confidence, Weir looks as calm and assured as ever, Papac is playing the best football of his life and Broadfoot also has done a remarkable job considering how, at first glance, unsuited he appears for the role.

If we are to go on the run of wins which we need to win this title that'll mean playing 4-4-2 away from home at tough venues, and to do that you need a defence on form.

If, unlike last season, we can keep our defence fit and together, I think we are looking a far better propect for making it '52 than I ever did a while back :21:

We need to do a better job of scoring ourselves than we did today. Umpteen 0-0s won't win the title.

442+Boyd=goals. But 442 only works if your defence is rock solid.

That will only work is someones there to help Boyd. Miller looks as if he is getting better, so if Boydie and Miller can strike up a partnership and hope that Celtic slip up and we don't, we'll win it. Easier said than done mind.

Bougherra i have to say looks different class.

Bougs seems to have almost everything – strong in the air, good on the ground, can bring the ball forward, good in the tackle.

One of the things I like best about him is he’s good at hassling a player whilst keeping his arms clearly free (unlike McCulloch etc) so the ref cant so easily award soft-freekicks against him

He’s taken his eye off the ball a couple of times in terms of marking at set-plays – but who better to learn from than Weir?

Weir was a nightmare at times so you must be watching a different game from me.

I accept he was at fault for not cutting out the ball to McDonald but other than that i cant remember him putting a foot wrong.

Im not his biggest fan in general - i think we should be blooding his replacement before - inevitably - Weir costs us a match

I noticed Weir was caught out of position a few times; the worst being for the Flood cross that McDonald missed. Davie should never have allowed that ball across him. But overall, he's doing a very good job for us. Quite underrated I think.

I really like Bougherra though, love it when he charges forward. His wee bit of skill and cross which McManus almost put into his own net was brilliant. Maybe a solution to our right wing problem? ;) Hope to see him on the scoresheet more often though!

Weir's distribution yesterday very rarely found a blue jersey, especially in the first half.

I actually cringe when Weir gets the ball at his feet.

Bougherra man of the match tonight to go with his (nominated by me) Man of the match vs Septic. (tu)

The fact no changes were made in the defence tonight doesnt suggest McCoist/Smith are worrying about Weir burning out.

Why I dont know - considering his age (no way is that man 38) :D

Roll on the record :21:

What is the current VDS record again?

1212 minutes i think but thats only domestic games.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...eet-record.html

That link explains things. Van Der Sars record is a British league record. He's going for the euro league record, and is miles off the world record.

Woods record is safe as its all competitions (the one that really counts ;)) and VDS is someway off it
