disgruntled_bear
Gers Czech out Accies ace Cerny RANGERS are keeping tabs on Hamilton keeper Tomas Cerny. The Czech ace caught the eye of the Ibrox club after five clean sheets in a row last month. No other keeper in the Scottish top flight has managed that this season. The 23-year-old lifted the Clydesdale Bank Player of the Month award for January and has been in fine form all season. Cerny is on loan at Accies from Czech side Sigma Olomouc and boss Billy Reid is keen to sign him on a permanent deal. But Gers gaffer Walter Smith is ready to listen to offers for third-choice Graeme Smith this summer and is on the lookout for another keeper. Hamilton have first option on signing Cerny from Sigma, however, and Reid hopes to tie up a deal for him within the next month. Gers scouting co-ordinator Sandy Jardine was at Fir Park on Saturday to see Cerny in action as Accies lost 1-0 to Motherwell. Rangers are also keeping an eye on talented Hamilton midfield starlet James McArthur, who is attracting interest from Celtic as well. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/ho...icle2240032.ece

Muff
James McArthur - why, IF true, would we be interested in him?
Craigy
Couldn't say much about Cerny but McArthur is just an average SPL player.

IamthatIam
Sounds like an agent's doing his job properly ie. generating interest. We don't need them though & shouldn't be Ibrox bound.

NOLUWDC
I'd rather bring Furman back than buy McArthur.
TMWWBK
Tomas is anything but 'pish', he's actually a very good goalkeeper. A friend of mine and a player who has potential. No better than Alexander or McGregor at the minute, but he's going places. McAthur i don't rate. End of.
Craigy
McArthur would be an OK addition to the squad imho. No he wouldn't. We need first team players and can't afford to be spashing cash for additions to the squad.
FlippinEck
Meanwhile, Hamilton Accies keeper Tomas Cerny is thought to have caught Walter Smith's eye after five clean sheets in a row last month. Sandy Jardine was in the stand to take in Hamilton's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Motherwell at Fir Park. Young midfielder James McArthur, who is attracting the interest of Celtic, is also thought to be a player the Ibrox club are keen on. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/displa...star_miller.php Kazan failed in a joint £14m bid for Udinese pair Fabio Quagliarella and Maurizio Domizzi last week and it has been reported Miller is now the man they want to land. How can they got from a £14M bid to a £2M bid ??

We dont really need too much more squad players and Ive got no idea how much Hamilton will want for him (if we were to go for him)
lidorfc
mcarthur would be good but we've already got enough players who can play in his position.
Nemesis
McArthur is well worth a punt Solid and can get forward as well When (IF) we put Ferguson out to pasture a midfield section containing the option of KT, Edu, Davis, Pedro and McArthur is strong strong options Not a bad shout if the price is right
BlueSuedeSambas
Cerny could easily play for us IMO. I think he's a very talented keeper who would probably make the Czech squad if he was playing at a higher level more regularly.
Gaffbear
We don't need MacArthur as we have Edu,Thomson,Mendes and Davis in midfield. Their keeper is a good keeper but we have 2 very good keepers.. What we need is a top striker to partner Boyd and 2 full backs and a centre half

Buying players for the future, or 'for the squad' is all well and good, but they're just guys that we'll probably be desperate to offload to 'trim the wage bill' in a couple of years. Buy guys in the priority positions. How we've ignored the blatant deficiencies in our fullback positions for so long is a mystery to me. Even the tims have identified the position as a weakness for them, and have tried to strengthen it. Tried.
