Forfar vs Rangers at Station Park Forfar on Wednesday 18th February, 2009. Kick-off 7:45 PM.

This is a 5th Round tie between Rangers and a Forfar team lying in 8th position in the lowest division in Scottish football.

We should have no trouble, but what team will Walter put out?

It is a Scottish Cup tie and he will not want to take too many chances, but after the Old Firm game in which we played a miserable first half he has a lot to ponder.

Alexander could play in goal; Whittaker will play at right back since Broadfoot is injured and otherwise the usual defence is probably a certainty to play unless he gives Webster a start.

In midfield he has a lot of choices from Aaron, Naismith, Davis, Mendes, Ferguson, Edu, McCulloch, Fleck and Beasley.

Up front we have Naismith, Boyd, Miller and Velicka to choose from. Lafferty may be injured. Novo is definitely out due to injury.

My guess is he may play Alexander and rest McGregor and Weir.

In midfield it is anyone's guess, but I hope we see Aaron and Edu play at least part of the game and also Beasley.

Up front I would try Boyd with Naismith or Fleck, but no doubts Miller will start.

The team would then be:

Alexander, Whittaker, Bougherra, Weir/Webster, Papac, Aaron, Davis, Edu, Mendes/Beasley, Boyd and Naismith.

with McGregor, Mendes/Beasley, Ferguson, Fleck, Miller and McCulloch all on the bench.

That provides us with plenty of cover and gives some players more game time.

Walter will have different ideas, but he has a lot of scope and chance to see what certain players can do in a competitive match.

[Note to Walter: We already know what Daily and McCulloch can do.]

We should win, but again Forafr will fight hard and the pitch may be like concrete and it may be very windy.

I predict 3-1 Rangers and can see Boyd amongst the goals

Alexander should be given a run out. He served us well last season.

I fear we will see McCulloch drop back into the CB slot to rest Weir.

The midfield is toss a coin stuff. I'd like to see Naismith Davis Edu Aaron

Stick Boyd and Miller up front with that and let the goals flow.
