Milan have made contact with Barcelona to discuss the future of striking star Samuel Eto'o, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Cameroon international Eto'o is demanding an improvement to his current contract and there are rumours that he expects the same salary as Argentine ace Lionel Messi.

Barcelona are unlikely to bow to those demands, leaving Eto'o's position at the Nou Camp in question.

Agent Josep Maria Mesalles has backed away from talks over an extension until 2014 and that may leave the door open for Milan.

Reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport state that the Rossoneri have made a provisional approach for the man they chased last summer before landing Ronaldinho.

Manchester City are also said to be interested in Eto'o, but the marksman has stressed the importance of Champions League football.

Eto's a great striker, but he's a bit of a twat really.

Parity with Messi? No Samuel, just no!

I still harbour hopes of him returning to the san moix.

Him and Luque the year mallorca got to the champions league :praise:

Manchester City :anguish:

That's where he'll end up.

The guy seems totally geared towards money.

If he just wants lots of money then I hope he goes there, man city could be a haven for all the money chasing players. Yet the team will be destined to fail.

AC Milan have dismissed reports they are interested in signing Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o this summer.

The Rossoneri were linked with the Cameroon international recently, who is reportedly unhappy over a lack of contract talks at Camp Nou.

Eto'o's Barca contract expires at the end of next season and the Catalan giants have yet to decide whether to retain his services or cash in and acquire a replacement.

Calm down

That has led to speculation that Milan may try to tempt the 27-year-old to Serie A, but the club's sporting director Ariedo Braida has rebuffed the talk.

"It is not reality," he told Gazzetta dello Sport when questioned on the club's Eto'o interest. "It is all just press rumours."

Italian football agent Ernesto Bronzetti had something to say on the matter and he reinforced the Milan director's words.

"There is no interest, Milan has other plans and they do not want to sign that player so every can calm down," he said.
