  1. I don't want to sound naive but surely the money we earned from last year would've covered this year ? We made something like £25 million last year plus selling Hutton and Cuellar for £17 million. What about the £18 million we got from JJB up front ?

Not having a go at you mate but I hear this type of comment all this time from our (and their) fans. "We made x from season tickets, y from players sales so we should have z to spend." If only life and finances were so simple. My mortgage is x, my loans are y and I earn z - so why the f*** am I skint all the time?

Not trying to defend SDM or put the boot in but my view is that they want success same as us. Ok the motives may be different (glory v cash) but as the two are linked you would have to say that we wouldn't be selling if we didn't have to.

  2. When Smith does eventually walk away McCoist will not be ready for the job.

I'm genuinely concerned that all of the great memoires McCoist gave me as a boy growing up are going to be overshadowed because he took the job far too soon :(

McCoist wasnt even interested in coaching until Smith asked him to be a part of the Scotland set up.

Now after 5-6 years, he is going to get one of the biggest jobs in Europe without any managerial experience at all.

    Its crazy

I'm guessing Souness was before your time. i.e. O days of experience before taking over.

That's a fair point Saudibear but Souness was able to buy top class players in positions where we were weak in along with his own considerable playing ability. This resulted in us being stronger on the field than all the opposition hence why the league was won during his reign. Souness's managerial ability has been shown up for what it is in the following years. Will McCoist be given the luxury of millions to spend?

Look at any of the good managers in modern day football. They learn their trade at lower clubs and work their way up.

Some examples of good players going straight in to big clubs and ultimately failing are Barnes, Dalgliesh, Souness (to an extent) and hopefully Keane.

If we all rack our brains long enough I'm sure there'll be examples disproving this but do we really want someone with no managerial experience at Rangers?
