TBK put in a bid of £1.5m plus add-ons. Jim McColl put a bid in after the assets had been sold.
To back up the other point, anyone with a proper, unconditional bid who would pay the exclusivity fee would have had the same (indeed Bill Miller did)

I have one guy telling me that Jim McColl sent Walter Smith in to bid £1.5 million for Rangers.
I have another one arguing that Charles Green didn't get special treatment from Duff and Phelps when Duff and Phelps actually ruled out any other potential buyers and remember Craig Whyte wanted Duff and Phelps in as administrators potentially losing creditors money.
I have another one saying he doesn't want a business man like Jim McColl owning Rangers ffs give me strength.
