  1. Hmmmmmm I know that Soros has a bit of previous with football , used to own dc Dallas I think , and was linked with taking over Roma , he is pals with Joe lewis but why involve Marlborough ?

It's the European league that really intrigues me , if TR is right and people in.the upper reaches of European football know this is going to happen sooner or later how many top clubs that could play in this league are up for sale ? How Many would cost a pretty paltry sum of 80 million all in (paltry to a billionaire ;) ) say TR is right and it happens , what if Soros and Joe lewis have seen this coming and speculated to accumulate , they have bought Rangers for peanuts to them , but more than that they've bought a global brand with massive support base , great stadium and training facilities. We join a euro league and with their backing do reasonably well , we get mega tv money and jump in revenue and because we are mixing it with the big boys the clubs value rockets through the roof.

Is it really that far fetched ? Just thinking out loud btw

Soros owned the company that operated DC United when the MLS began, then his group tried to buy the Washington Nationals but nothing ever developed of that.

The man has some serious wealth, no doubt.

  2. Yeah, that's pretty much the going rate for most players outside the Designated Player/"Beckham Rule".

The lowest wage in the MLS was Conor Shanosky of DC United - He was on something like $30k per season.

We different contracts than Europe though. The player's receive a current base salary and an annual average guaranteed compensation. The AAGC number is a player's base salary and all signing and guaranteed bonuses over the duration of the contract.

If a player has a base salary of $50,000 over a two-year contract with two one-year options and received a $10,000 bonus signing fee, his AAGC would be $52,500 (base salary plus signing bonus ($10,000), with the signing bonus divided by the 4 year contract.

Take any MLS wage reports with a grain of salt though... Players have personal contracts with the club and separate contracts with their sponsors that allow the team to pay them less than the MLS wage-cap of $2.6m per season

  3. THEY'VE been lauded as heroes for making a huge sacrifice.

Steven Naismith, Steven Davis, Allan McGregor and Steven Whittaker have all agreed 75 per cent wage cuts.

Fair play to the Rangers players. I'm not sure I would have done the same.

This kind of gesture isn't witnessed too often in football.

Some will argue the salary reductions have been forced upon them. But the players still deserve massive credit for agreeing to them.

Like you and me, they have families to look after. They have bills to pay, they have all manner of financial commitments.

But before we go all misty-eyed at this rare gesture of selflessness, let me tell you one thing.

They will ALL be away from Rangers in the summer.

I don't know where they'll go, but they'll definitely go.

I'm not saying that because I suspect there's been any deal struck between the players and the Ibrox administrators. It's just common sense that they'll leave and play somewhere else next season.

Take McGregor, one of the best keepers in the land.

Say, for argument's sake, he was on £25,000 a week.

After the late-night crisis talks at Murray Park on Thursday, that's been slashed to £6,250. You're not telling me that the likes of Bolton, Newcastle or Swansea couldn't take his wages back up to £25,000.

In fact, they'd pay him even more than he was originally on if they thought they could lure him south.

The vultures from the Premier League will be circling already. Hovering over Gers' carcass to see what they can pick off.

They'll view Naismith, McGregor, Davis and Whittaker as players they can grab.

Just watch out for their scouts flocking to Ibrox between now and the end of the season. The players' agents will be rubbing their hands in glee.

Yes, their clients have had to take a short-term hit. But the long game will see them head south for greater riches than they have ever earned at Ibrox.

The agents will be working triple time now to get the players big-money moves.

And there will be no shortage of takers for those top men.

Even promoted clubs like, say, West Ham, Southampton or Reading would crave the experience that the likes of Davis, Naismith, McGregor and Whittaker would bring.

These guys are internationals who have played in Europe and starred in so many big games.

They have been fine players for Rangers over the years. They won three consecutive SPL titles before this season's spectacular financial collapse.

They've experienced little other than success and they've got trophies and medals coming out of their backsides.

They have put in a real shift for the club and taking a massive pay cut is a huge sign of what Rangers means to them.

But that doesn't mean they'll hang around next season.

I read someone earlier this week claiming players don't play for money. What a load of nonsense that is.

Yes, they play for the love of the game and they play to win.

But they also play for the noughts at the end of the salary.

That's why guys on £100,000 a week will agitate to get to a club which will pay them £200,000 a week.

When the big offers are dangled in front of players, they are simply impossible to refuse. That's the way it is in any walk of life. And that's why it's inevitable that these four — and maybe some others, too — will quit Ibrox in the summer.

It's just one more nightmare scenario that Gers supporters must get their heads round.

The current crisis remains an incredible story, with so many twists and turns.

This week alone Rangers have been threatened with a potential 30-point penalty at the start of the next SPL season.

They've been warned they could be kicked out of next season's Scottish Cup if they don't pay a debt to Dundee United.

And it's certain they won't play in Europe for the first time in 32 years because they won't meet UEFA criteria.

For me, they deserve EVERY punishment that comes their way.

They've not just broken one rule — it looks they've broken almost every rule in the book.

So they can expect to have the book thrown at them.

And I've no sympathy for them at all.

Just because they are a massive club with a fantastic sport, a great stadium and terrific history, shouldn't spare them from penalties.

Previous regimes have brought all this on the club.

Too many people have been deceitful and sly in the way they've gone about their business.

The club will now pay a high price — and so they should.

Losing these four stars will be just the tip of the iceberg.

  4. RANGERS stars have shown their contempt for Craig Whyte by demanding FREE TRANSFERS if he returns to Ibrox.

As SunSport first revealed yesterday morning, top players have agreed to massive pay cuts in a bid to help save the stricken giants.

But they have insisted a clause is inserted in their redrawn contracts guaranteeing they can leave for NOTHING if disgraced Whyte ever returns.

First-team stars are disgusted with discredited owner Whyte for plunging the club into administration, jeopardising jobs and the very existence of the 140-year-old club.

And administrators Duff and Phelps bowed to their unanimous request yesterday after outline agreement was reached on brutal across-the-board wage cuts of 75, 50 and 25 per cent.

Eight clauses were inserted in every emergency playing contract.

And SunSport can reveal clause seven, without any time limit on it, reads: 'Should Craig Whyte regain or otherwise assume or adopt effective day-to-day control of management, the Company shall be immediately obliged to grant you a free transfer'.

The players could not have made any clearer their bitterness towards Whyte, who currently remains Gers supremo.

SunSport can also reveal that the temporary contracts ensure for the players a return to their original terms once Gers come out of administration or a new owner comes in.

Duff and Phelps — appointed by Whyte — last night finally announced a deal to produce the necessary £1million a month savings and avoid mass redundancies of playing and non-playing staff at Murray Park and Ibrox.

Gers boss Ally McCoist, as revealed by SunSport, is already working for nothing until the end of the season. His backroom staff have also agreed swingeing salary cuts.

Meanwhile, Fraser Wishart last night saluted Rangers stars for agreeing to huge wage drops to save jobs.

The PFA Scotland chief spoke outside the gates at Murray Park as darkness fell after the players had united to see their salaries slashed.

It brought to a close a tense period of delays as deals were thrashed out.

Wishart said: "It's been a long week for our members and everyone connected with the club.

"Other than a few minor issues being tidied up the players have agreed to alter the terms of their contracts for the next three months to help the club through the next three months."

"It's a huge gesture by the players to the club and the fans."

"They knew from the word go that at some point there was going to be a massive hit. They knew they were the biggest cost but one of the points they have stuck steadfastly by is they wanted to protect as many jobs as possible.

"I believe there's word coming out of Ibrox tonight that there are not going to by redundancies and the players are thankful for that. This buys time for the administrators to find a new owner. We know it's in a perilous position but this is a huge step forward for Rangers Football Club."

"There have been stories this week about players refusing to take cuts but that's not been the case. There have been individuals who've said they will play for nothing. Their commitment from the start of this whole process has been to stick together as a collective."

  5. Thats it for me... I'm done with RM for tonight, I'm leaving before anymore negative stories break.

It's been a while since I've left this place in a good mood

Hopefully this is the start of some light at the end of the tunnel for us Bears (tu)

  6. I think this is what we all want to happen, & soon!

    1. Get out of administration

    2. Install a new director (one that can be trusted)

    3. Retain our best players so we can stay competitive

    4. Finances set in order so this NEVER happens again

    5. Unite all fans to get behind the team.

    6. Yearly trophies on display.

Maybe a bit of a dream at present but here's hoping its just around the corner.

Every team has its bad spells, hopfully this one of ours won't last too long!

Watp! & we stand together :7325:

Seriously though... I'd be happy just with getting out of Admin right now.

It's like waking up on Death Row every morning and wondering what I'm

    gonna read next on here

Hopefully we'll hear something positive by Friday (tu)
