  1. Walter was asked about his first and second spell at Ibrox. Which was the best.

Walter said the second one was better. He said people told Him not to go back and that it would be difficult, etc. He said he welcomed the challenge. Proving everyone wrong was good.

He was also asked about the 9-IN-A-ROW and UEFA Cup final during His second spell. Walter said he couldn't decide which was the best.

Walter also said that McDowall came back with the list of penalty takers against Fiorentina and he seen names like Papac, Hemdani, and Novo and these weren't guys you'd want to take penalties. He said Novo was a poor penalty taker. He also said when Novo scored his penalty he thought it was the 4th and that there was more penalties still to take.

Yes and McCoist turned round to him and said, imagine relying on him (Novo) to score the penalty that takes us through. Thought that was hilarious. In any case, thanks for summing up quite a lot of what was said THE_MIGHTY_BEARS, I've been in work all day and not had much time to type out lengthy replies.

  2. It was a great night. Really enjoyed it. Questions were written by people attending beforehand and Traynor picked out a good few and added to them a bit throughout the night. He told a few good stories about Gazza/McCoist etc in the first half and talked about working with Sir Alex Ferguson as well. In the second half he answered a lot of questions about league reconstruction. His reply, "Has anyone managed to work it out yet?" He more or less said that Scottish Football is finished as there is no money in the Scottish game. He cited St Mirren having 15k fans at the League Cup Final as a specific example of what's wrong with football in this country as these folk don't go every week. He doesn't believe England will ever take us but he said there are a few clubs who could move and are big enough to move for the Scottish game to thrive.

The last question he was asked was whether this league title will be "54 or 55". His reply was that he has told McCoist that he's not allowed to count it - much like he used to joke with his good friend Dick Campbell as he never let him count "diddy league" titles. No disrespect was made just merely a joke, however he said, "55 because we know who it will annoy."

It was filmed for Rangers TV and is really worth a watch if you get the chance and when it becomes available.

  3. Juventus hate everything british.

And what if they do? They are just given as an example seeing as they play them tonight and was an observation I made on my lunch hour. There would be plenty of fans that would buy our merchandise if we happened to play them in Europe in the future. We need to snap out of this mentality, it's money to our club at the end of the day and if we are able to capitalise on this then all the better.

  4. I understand the point but aren't they buying Celtic stuff as a memento of their game versus Celtic?

Lets hope we can get a city centre shop up and running soon, one which we actually own.

Yeah so for instance where do they go when they draw us in the Champions League in 5/6 years time? The only shop visible is the C*ltic shop in Glasgow. They'd still go there regardless if they weren't playing them as it would be merchandise from a team in Glasgow. We really need a presence in the city centre to compete with this and exploit the market when foreigners come to town.

  5. I really think we are missing a trick here. You see on days like today, Juventus fans in their droves carrying bags of merchandise from the C*ltic shop. I obviously realise that we have struck a deal with Sports Direct but we should at least have a City Centre megastore. For tourists visiting Glasgow, they've only been given one option. We should look to capitalise on this. We're not asking for all the Rangers shops to open again as we've learned they are not financially viable but we do need to have a face in the centre of town. Maybe it's just me, a tad bitter at how far we've fallen in the last few years but when we get back to the top we must be making sure that we are rivalling them off the park as well as on it.

  6. I'm in the same position. Bought one on the 14th but was told it would be posted out within the next week and was given a paper ticket for the East Stirlingshire game. Nothing arrived yet so I'll give it until the middle of next week before speaking to the ticket office again.
