It is all very well saying that after the fact, but the players didn't really have a clue what was going to happen if they transferred. Who could blame them after the whyte era.
Before it happened, how would mcgregor know that not tape'ing would be treated as treason, yet transferring over, then leaving for nothing would have you treated as a hero like broadfoot. The result was the same, herd emotion is all that really separates the cases.
When we went NewCo, half the fans were still under the impression that liquidation equalled the death of the club. Even Smith couldn't really get his head round it. God knows what the players were hearing from officials at the club and agents etc.
I just think it is unfair to vilify all the guys who left. Although I agree Naismith was a prick.
