  1. it is because they think that sardines will be thrown into the sea. This, perhaps the most famous aphorism in football, delivered by Eric Cantona after an appeal hearing at Croydon magistrates court has been widely quoted, puzzled over, ridiculed ever since. I took it to be an attack on the media, who circled Cantona looking for scraps of stories. Cantona treated them with the contempt they deserve and vowed to do his talking on the pitch.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of his infamous 'assault' at Crystal Palace and regardless of what you think of the man as a person, Cantona was right in one thing. The media are always there looking for scraps, picking and pulling, noisy and irritating and ultimately parasitic. Without Cantona there was no story.

The seagulls have been flocking round Ibrox park in increasing numbers for the past few years, and the pickings have been rich indeed, more smoked salmon than sardines if truth be told. Infighting, claim, counterclaim, Whyte, Green, Irvine, Mather, King, Easedales, etc etc, the list of those who, fish in hand, feed the media is long, and, if truth be told, not very distinguished. The seagulls, Spiers, English, Keevins, Thomson have grown fat on the feast, but unsated continue to caw and shriek for more. They peck and poke at Rangers and regurgitate their bile into half-truths and lies which is published in the gutter rags of the media.

But still Her Majesty's Ship Rangers has sailed on, through the tempest of Craig Whyte, the turbulent waters of Div 3 and the tricky passage of League 1, we have maintained our course and our eyes have been fixed on our ultimate destination. There is definitely a storm on the horizon in the shape of Dave King and our priority once again is the safety of the ship, it's time to batten down the hatches, prepare for foul weather and ride out the storm. There's more and more seagulls (seafarers call them shite hawks) and they are approaching a feeding frenzy.

This time it's our Captain they have in their sights, they know if they can remove him they may be able to alter our course. Their tactics are obvious, they seek to incite mutiny in the ranks.

Through the storms and heavy seas he's stood on the Bridge and guided us safely on, I'm backing him to lead us to our homeport.

Your decision is whether it's manning the oars and driving us on or standing on deck feeding the gulls.

Sad thing is, it is supposed fans (the vocal minority, sos, rsa and their like) that are giving the rhat infested mhedia their feeding frenzy to demonise our club!
  2. I know Sunday's performance was hard to stomach, but we will walk it through the replay. Surely we all know that. No matter what we think of him as the manager, he IS the manager of Rangers FC and we need to get behind him and the team until the day he leaves. I don't see him being here next season as it is clear to everyone that he is simply not good enough to move compete at the next level. In the meantime, get behind them and who knows we could still be the Scottish Cup winners yet!

  3. Listen, I'm no lover of Ally and he has to go, but until that day arrives, we should still get behind him on match days. It won't make any difference how much we boo him and the team and probably has a negative effect. Maybe better just leaving early as that would be a much bigger gesture rather than booing as that is in real bad taste.

  4. I forecast we will get through this round on the replay at a canter. However, if the scumdee hivs beat us on home turf, I think it will be a much greater disappointment than todays result and put the two together, most will want Ally to walk PDQ.

And another however, I have a sneaky feeling we will pull out all the stops, get right in their faces and take them at Ibrox!!

  5. Daly needs to be dropped. He started the season well but has been getting progressively worse. He does some good work normally, but even that has been disappearing recently.

Your right, he really needs to be dropped for his own good. This was his worst performance so far. We have seen this before with Walter sticking with the same players week in week out no matter how bad they play. We also need to stop lumpin balls forward. We just don't have a passing game and slow on the turn and move. Wasn't good. I think the players do have the ability to play a short sharp passing game, but I'm left wondering if they are being told tactically not to do it and the players are loosing respect as a consequence and going through the motions.
  6. I am really looking forward to our team going through to the Semis tomorrow so can I please ask that we don't have any demos inside Ibrox. We will have Sky and RTV beaming this game all over the world and the SFA will be there to draw the semis so it would be the worst time to embarrass ourselves ,our club and our players. Would it be too much to ask that the demos are kept until Wednesday? at least then we can, sort of, wash our dirty linen in private. At the end of the day if the expected demo is against the board they will still be there on Wednesday,

WATP and don't forget it Timmy. :7325::ulster:

You are having a laugh!! Agreat opportunity to show the enemy within what the majority think of them. Do you think the occasion will stop them? NOT! If the majority do not respond to this lunatic fringe, yes indeed the public at large think we are all like minded. BB and his kind should be publicly humiliated and banished for ever more for the damage enacted upon our club by them!
  7. Rangers fans never learn, King isn't investing any money JUST NOW! we will wait until next season ie when we are on the way back to the SPL.

Doesn't make sense. It's a bit like if we don't get promotion he doesn't invest. If gaining promotion, which we will, at that point, there will be far bigger boys than King wanting to rule the roost. If he was a true blue with his reputed wealth, even business sense, he should invest now. For me, our value will treble when promoted to the top tier.
  8. I think a share issue in about Dec would be good timing, just before we return and gives time to scout, agree budgets etc.

I wonder if McColl and MiniCo would step up at share issue #2 as well.

    Needs to happen IMO
