  1. I think Arsenal are too.

Remy would suit either of them I think.Wonder what the problem in the medical was.

He's had problems in the past with medicals - its his heart I think, his medical at Marseilles indicated cardiac issues, but he was eventually cleared to play. Does anyone know that if a player fails his medical, he cant be insured by his club? If that's true, i'd imagine that would be a big problem.

  2. Mamadou Sakho to arrive for medical with Liverpool today to complete a 17M€ move. (L'Equipe)

I have to say, that's a rather impressive signing for Liverpool, they seem to be sorting out their defence well, which was their big weakness last season.

  3. Would like to see Suarez win it, he's scored more goals so far and generally been much more impressive in an inferior side, he can do it all, excellent dribbling skills, scores from all angles with either left or right foot, scores direct from free kicks, shows up in the big games, if it wasn't for Suarez, Liverpool would be struggling for top half of the table, never mind competing for 5th with an outside shot of 4th now. Bale and RVP are both excellent players, game winners, RVP is probably one of the best pure strikers in the world and contributes with his fair share of assists. Bale is a fantastic winger, fast, excellent ball control and scores from range and beautiful crosses any striker would love to be on the end of. A pretty good case can be made for al three players having carried their respective clubs for large parts of the season, and propelling them further. My personal preference is for Suarez however, absolutely magnificent player.

  4. good statement and RIP

    but

damage was done by a few on here on the other thread Devlin springs too mind.

Scousers down here clocked the thread.

some of the stuff was terrible on that thread can't believe any bear would write it, if anyone said that to me about Ibrox i would smash their face in.

Was a shocking thread, couldn't believe the lies were believed and repeated. The truth is out now, and its a bittersweet truth as the 96 are now on the road to justice, however, to see how far the cover up went was appalling. JFT96.

  5. The large crowds outside the stadium was caused by broken turnstiles I believe, the gate was ordered open, and then the liverpool fans went into the main pens, but once they were in, there was no way out, as they couldn't go against the flow coming in, thus the pen (which was already close to capacity) overfilled and the crush happened. It was a police failure, they should have ensured that the fans were diverted to the smaller pens. As mentioned in the Taylor report on the incident, no blame was attributed to drunk, ticketless fans, this perception seems to have arisen from the police cover up, in which they blamed drunk fans.

  6. He has something about him, that makes me think he will be a very good manager, he reminds me of Rafa Benitez in a few ways - he has a tactical approach to the game, with a clear plan and team system, and he is always writing in his notebook. I feel he will prove to be an excellent manager, but the Liverpool job may be too big.

  7. Huntelaar would be a cracking signing but as you say, probably just paper talk.

I think Borini's probably only worth about half of what they paid for him.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's a particularly bad player, quite the opposite in fact, but for an extra 2m they could have signed a proven EPL goalscorer. For what Borini does, he's good, but I just feel that 10m is a little overpriced for him. (I'd also argue Roma overspent)

I think Borinis price was Inflated because he's young and earned his first call up and a place in the Italy squad for the euros, I think if Borini scores 10-15 goals in the league then he will have been worth the outlay. Not sure if he can do that, missed a sitter against hearts and could have had a hat-trick, he gets himself in very good positions, but could be just like Suarez - poor finishing

  8. Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't move for him. Liverpool are crying out for someone who can put the ball in the net.

Will be interesting to see if they make a final signing before the window closes, but they definitely missed a trick with Fletcher.

On a side note: How over priced was Borini?!

Dutch paper linking them with Huntlarr - would be a cracking signing but I think it's probably just unsubstantiated speculation, you know how papers can be.

Borini was 10-11 million im sure, and I think Roma had signed him for 9 million total, so I don't think that was really overprice, he looks a good player to me, but I agree, Liverpool need a proven goalscorer, or I can't see them doing much. I think they have spent well on young, good players, like Borini, Allen, Sahin (loan) and Assaidi. It remains to be seen just how good these signings will be.
