  1. Yeah we have done really well.

1 win in 25 games including Maribor twice, unirea twice, malmo twice, bursaspor twice and Kaunas twice.

2008/09 beaten by Kaunas and embarrassed out of Europe.

2009/10 Humped 4-1 at home 2 home games in a row by Seville and unirea urziceni and managed 2 points out of a possible 18.

2010/11 drew with united at old Trafford by parking the bus, beat bursaspor (our first and last win in Europe after Sporting away) drew with valencia, then beaten off man u, Valencia and drew with bursaspor. We scored 2 goals in 6 games finishing with 6 points from 18 and dropping into the Europa league. We drew twice with sporting Lisbon and then played shocking against PSV with negative tactics and ended up out on our arse!

2011/12 easy draw against malmo we thought. Beaten 1-0 at home with a joke performance. Drew 1-1 away and out of the 15million pound CL. easy draw against Maribor we thought. Beaten 2-1 away and drew 1-1 at home with another 2 shocking performances.

Yeah we have done really well. If it wasn't for us automatically qualifying twice we would be in an even bigger mess financially than we are at present.

We are shocking, we really are.

go back a few more years to supposedly far superior players and we didnt do much better -

    92-93 - 2nd spot in group - 1-1 and 2-2 draw with Marseile , 1-1 draw and 2-1 win against Brugge , 1-0 win against CSKA and 0-0 draw

93-94 - beaten by Levski Sofia

94-95 - beaten by AEK Athens home and away

95-96 - scraped thru 1-0 against Famagusta - beaten 4-1 and 4-0 by Juventus , Lost to Steau B away , and 2 draws with dortmund and 1 with Steau

96-97 - qualified and got beaten by Grasshoppers 3-0 , auxere 2-1 twice , 4-1 and 1-0 loses to AJAX. Only points a 2-1 home win against Grasshoppers

97-98 - out at the hands of IFK Gothenburg after a 3-0 away loss and 1-1 home draw

.. I have found nothing pre 92-93 to suggest that we have been anything other than a dissapointment in Europe for the last 30 years. Might have played better footbal but at the end of the day it is the results that count and if you look at the results of the Rangers teams of the past 30 years then our current squad have done no worse than previous.

  2. Every word, SPOT ON! (tu)

    thank you SWSL.

I might be overstepping the mark but I would even go as far as saying that the 9 in a row squad is in a way responsible for the current state of our finances. We and SDM craved european success and the failings of the 9 in a row squad were the reason that SDM made the DA move. Had the 9 in a row team not been so pathetic in its last showing against IFK Gothenburg then maybe , just maybe , DA would never have happened.

3 failed champions league attempts = atleast £30million lost plus 70-80million rebuilding team = over £100million pounds was the price Rangers potentially paid for the failings of the 9 in a row squad.

  3. Thats what happens when the truth doesnt suit caseyjones.

    (tu)

    you are absolutley spot on.

Another article in the Sun under the title You Lot Shamed Legends ....

    http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3775970/You-lot-shamed-legends.html

This would be the same legends who got embarrassed home and away by juventus , lost to AEK Athens , ripped apart by Ajax , lost to Levski Sofia , lost to IFK Gothenburg , couldn't defend a corner against Auxere when they had 2 men in our box. couldnt defend a 2-0 lead in Dortmund. Then we can follow this with Advocats world beaters - pumped in Graz , demolished in Parma , humped by Galatasary , unable to take care of Monaco couldnt even make the 3rd place in the bloody group stages with 70m pounds worth of players on the pitch and never even close to getting out the group stages. Mcleish's teams faired little better.

End of the day - like it or not the current Rangers team have acheived more on the European Stage than our 9 in a row squad , Advocats Multi-million pound squad and any other rangers team of the past 30 odd years. Would our 9 in a row team have been able to hold Barcelona to a 0-0 draw? 4-0 pumpings at the hands of Ajax and Juventus are proof they would not. We went to Lyon and pumped them 3-0 , held Barcelona , Man Utd to goal less draws , got to a Uefa Cup Final disposing of Italian , Portugeese and German sides on the way.

Our 9 in a row team managed 2nd place in the inaugral CL and that was all they ever acheived in Europe - current squad - UEFA FINAL - which is the greater achievement??

People get all nostalgic and talk of the great players we had but with the passing of time and when criticising the current squad everyone seems to forget that these great players of the past let us down far more than our current squad ever will! Had these great players of the past not got themselves regularly humped and embarassed out of Europe then maybe our current squad wouldnt be in the fucking state it is in!!

this is how our Legends faired in the CL -

97-98 - out at the hands of IFK Gothenburg after a 3-0 away loss and 1-1 home draw

so that would be our great Legends - Acheived 3 fucking victories and 7 draws in 6 years in Europe (not including qualifiers against fishermen)

    rant over

  4. I've only got ESPN so don't fancy shelling out for Sky too this season, heard a rumour its possible to get the games via Rangerstv if you mask your IP to look like your from another country? Anyone done this before and fancy helping me out?

bit late for today but might come in useful in future ..

Download and install Easy Hide IP - free 3 day trial then roughly £20 for a 1 year licence. Program lets you hide your IP address behind one in US , Canada , Germany etc. You can then log on to Rangers TV and buy matches in the U.K.

There are free ways to do it but I found that the hassle you have to go to and the speed problems make the £20 licence for Easy Hide IP well worthwile ..

BTW , if you are with Virgin then give them a call - They don't tell you about it but if you are an exsisting customer ask to speak to Customer Retentions and tell the guy you want the 500GB TIVO box and they charge you £50 for the TIVO 500GB box but then you qualify for all sorts of discounts off your package price so you can maybe get your sky sports for a fraction of the price. I pay £86 a month for all the channels , phone , internet and 4 multi-rooms - should be well over £150 ....

  5. I think most would agree that their is little point in raising such matters with Scottish Authorities. Quite clearly there is an agenda which is being pursued and there is nothing anyone of us can do against it. There are however people out there who can and should take action. Just take it to the next level and look to organisations that are not Scotland based to prevent the sweep sweep.

    I found these chaps - https://www.mi5.gov.uk/output/contact-form.html?subject=Reporting%20suspected%20threats

    Dear Sirs ,

I would like to inform you of a potential risk to British Inland Security. 60,000 mainly Scots of Irish descent engage in the glorification of Terrorism at Celtic Park in Glasgow. Songs praising the IRA and their acts of Terrorism against Britain are to be heard. Songs are sung which call for the murder of our Monarch. These individuals are not policed or monitored after leaving the ground and it may only be a matter of time before Organisations that support Terrorism see this potential to attack Britain from within thru individuals that can not be as easily identified and tracked. I would greatly appreciate a response to my message as I find it quite concerning that this situation has went ignored by British Security Services for so long and I hope that in the interests of National Security steps will be taken to end what are nothing more that celebrations of Violence and Terrorism behind a disguise of football and more disturbingly what could be an afront to something far sinister.

    :sherlock:

  6. He must get caught when he goes to buy any games tho? No?

wasn't a problem mate. Match was paid for using a UK registered credit card. It displays a message saying only to buy if you are watching from outside the UK as the stream won't start otherwise.

Match was paid for from a UK IP address (didn't want Credit Card details being exposed)so just used my normal internet connection. Logged off from the Rangers site , connected Easy Hide IP and logged on again. Rangers site recognised my new IP as being a German one and everything worked fine

I think the credit card block has been lifted because a lot of UK based Rangers fans would be accessing the streams when abroad.

FOG was kind enough to pm me the firefox addon so my tip for Easy Hide IP is an unnecessary expense but if anyone is interested in that program and knows of others that could need it they might want to contact the guys from Easy Hide IP - they offer a 10 licence pack for $130

  7. there are probably loads of free ways to do it but for those of us who are more restricted in our computer abilities here is how "someone I know" *cough* did it for the match last night

Download Easy Hide IP - costs $29.99 if you want to buy it but has a 3 day free trial so ideal for the match next week

You can then use Easy Hide IP to mask your IP address with one from Germany/US/Canada etc. and access Rangers TV Live match streams. - You do obviously have to pay for the match.

Hope this helps one or two fellow bears out for next week ...

  8. Dear Sirs ,

I am am appalled and disgusted by a comment made by Margo Mcdonald on the Big Debate. According to Ms Mcdonald it is perfectly acceptable for El Hadji Diouf to be subjected to abuse. El Hadji Diouf has been subjected to disgraceful abuse , some of which has been racial , since his arrival in Scotland. For Ms Mcdonald to condone this and to say "he deserves it" is in my opinion absolutley disgracefull. No human being deserves to be abused in this manner. What has El Hadji Diouf done to Ms Mcdonald? Does Ms Mcdonald know El Hadji Diouf personally to make such a statement?? I find it appaling that you give such an individual a platform to condone and encourage hatred toward another person. I therefore demand , as a Licence Fee payer , that Ms Mcdonald be immediatley sacked for the encouragement of racial abuse! regards

  9. Cant see him being banned for 10 games, although letter of the law says he should, Celtics lawyers will make sure he misses as little number of games as possible.

You should have seen the evidence they took into Hampden with them tonight, a brown cardboard box full of big white folders, they are unreal.

sadly , I think your right .... but just a thought -Maybe we should all contact the SFA and ask for just a 1 match ban - "it" in the stand just for the OF match at Ibrox ... now that would be interesting :)

  10. i really doubt he shouted it across the dugout like that! If he did the police would have heard it and would have arrested him there and then.

you really think Strathclde Police have the balls to arrest the Celtic manager in the middle of an Old Firm match with 50,000 kiddie fiddlers present???

  11. considering the BBC went to the effort to show footage of the Zidane incident from the WC to an Italian Lip Reader is it too much to expect that they should be showing this incident to a Lip Reader aswell?? Police , SFA and Scottish Goverment all involved therefore it is indeed in the public interest to investigate and report exactly what was said.

as others have said the reaction of the old guy says it all - during the whole incident the guy was sitting on his backside but as "it" mouthed off he sprang up with a look of absolute shock on his face.

  12. was a Scottish guy "Diouf ya black bastard ye!"

There all over facebook calling him a monkey etc...

get each and every racist post copied and forwarded to the polis ....... show them up for the scum they are!!!!

  13. And also finishing 3rd in a 2 team league and going umpteen times tanked by Celtic.

He is a bloody awful manager. I expect Birmingham to be gubbed on Sunday, then relegated from the premiership.

what he does seem to be good at is coming to a new club, turning around the players fortunes for a couple of seasons. But things then turn to shit

"awfull" is a bit over the top. He made mistakes - Letting Amo and Shota go , failing to reinstate Klos as number 1 , changing the defence by bringing in Rodriguez and Fan Fan , Packing Khinashvile off to Blackburn and a few more ...

but he won 2 titles on the last day , got us into the last 16 of the CL and stopped the slide when he took over from DA.

Overall a succesfull rangers manager who with hindsight should maybe have left on a high after winning the 2nd title ... but everything happens for a reason .. if Eck hadnt stayed for 05/06 we wouldnt have got Le Guen , if we hadnt got Le Guen we wouldnt have got Sir Walter back , if we hadn't got Sir Walter back we would never have got to a Uefa Cup final and wouldn't be going for a Quadruple this season .. :)

The only real grudge I have against Eck is that he took the captaincy from Nando and gave it back to Barry at the start of 05/06 - imo Nando had a maturity and dicipline about him when he was captain that wasnt there after he lost the captaincy. Maybe Barry and Nando would have both benefited more from that change not being made - but we will never know ..

  14. Wish people would shut up about his reputation, he's only had something like 5 red cards in his whole career, prior to the leg break incident, where at the time he didn't know the other player had actually broken his leg, but was having a go at him because of the way he tried to tackle one of his fellow players and thought the bloke initially was acting it. Prior to that he was a regular in the Blackburn side and it's only his fall out with the new manager has prevented him from playing.

Other previous events were years prior to this, but as usual the press want to blow some things totally out of proportion, and as usually happens some people prefer to focus on the negatives rather than the positives.

I remember Diouf saying in an interview when he signed for us, that he sees it as a fresh start, he wants to play for us, and he also said it would be good if he could make the loan period a permanent deal, that gives me the impression money wont' be too much of a factor for him, he gives me the impression that what he wants to do is play football, win games and win medals and trophies, and at this moment in time he wants to do that with us.

    spot on sir ..

i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that he has only ever had 2 red cards.

The guy has his own charity foundation and goes out to africa to coach poor kids ... how many of the people who have so vocally criticised the man have done even a fraction of what he has??

People really need to try to understand that though by western standards spitting on someone is unacceptable , there are parts of the world in which spitting on someone is quite acceptable if that person has offended you. Spitting on someone is a way of degradation and quite acceptable as a retaliation in some countries and cultures ...

Coming from the background that Diouf is from I would not be surprised if he decided to stay with us for a fraction of what he would get down south ... he's already got the bank balance - hopefully he will want the silver to show off when he hangs up his boots ....

  15. Andy Webster just had a heart attack seeing his name on the team sheet :craphead:

Disappointed we didn't play Kerkar at LB..Waste of a wage :anguish:

considering kerkar is a left winger the majority of us would be disspointed if he did indeed start at LB .. :)

  16. if you want to make a protest the best way would be to disrupt their buisness .. whenever you have a spare 15mins just go to your local branch and stand in the queue. When you get to the counter just fumble about and take forever .. then say you´ve left your card at home .. 1 or two people doing this won´t make a difference but if a few thousand supporters were to do this every day lloyds would be flooded with complaints from it´s regular customers about the length of queues and time taken at counters. on the other hand you might end up getting thumped by some nutter in the queue :)

  17. used code to order 3rd kit today and worked with no problems.

created a credit account and paid for top from credit account to avoid refund hassles. 18.95 was debited from credit account which I paid off with my credit card immediatley. a lot easier than paying by card immediatley and discount is applied immediatley and price always remains at 18.95.

    thanks to original poster (tu)
