  1. There is an article just been published on one of the Danish news sites about a biography just released on Laudrup that claims his (original) Lymphoma might have been caused by arthritis medication he took whilst playing. I wonder if someone's seen this and got their wires crossed. There is no mention of a recurrence of the disease, it's referring to him having it in 2010.

Medication for pain in the leg may cause football icon lymphoma.

The possibility that it is precisely arthritis medication that triggered lymphoma with Brian Laudrup certainly can not be rejected.

This is the conclusion of the new biography of the football star, 'Life of Brian' which has just been published.

A study published in the prestigious American journal Journal of the National Cancer Institute shows that people who for some time taking arthritis medications have an increased risk of lymphoma.

Brian Laudrup has newspaper articles reported that he has taken the arthritis medication for a period to relieve pain in the legs. He has in his career on the pitch was part plagued by an injury in the heel, just as he has had problems with cross band and is operated in the right knee.

Brian Laudrup said, however - according to the book - clearly no to injections of corticosteroids, although it probably could have relieved his pain more effectively.

The former. football star do not believe even that there is no connection between his illness and consumption of rheumatic agents.

    - I have the career passport very careful not to fill myself too much with stuff like that. I certainly believe that there are others who have taken a lot more medicine than me. And when it comes specifically to corticosteroids, I have kept me completely away from the stuff he says in the book.

He says he will leave it up to doctors alone to assess why some people - including him - gets cancer.

    For B.T. he says:

    - I will not comment on the issue further, because I have long ago made the overall decision not to participate in the biography about me.

Brian Laudrup was in the summer of 2010 witnessed a milder form of lymphoma. After treatment, he said that he feels "really, really good '.

  2. Shiels was asked what happened in the tunnel, and said "who's that ugly defender? Broadfoot? Aye, the male model. The best looking guy in Ayrshire" and then went on to say that Broadfoot came up the tunnel with his mascara running down his face looking for a fight. Stuart McCall pointed out afterwards that Shiels was still on the pitch when it happened and wouldn't even have seen the incident.

    Fud.

  3. Coisty sat in front of me on a flight from Glasgow to London in the days when he was still doing Question of Sport and all the tv stuff

Bumped in to Charlie Miller in the Overgate centre in Dundee once after he signed for the arabs. Seen Lovenkrands out and about in Glasgow city centre a few times too but never spoke to him

A couple of my mates met Stevie Naismith in Tenerife and said he was a top bloke (tu)

  4. They just mentioned on Sportsound that they spoke to one of the officials for an "explanation", and they confirmed the five mins was added on for the treatment of blood injuries, and also for timewasting throughout the second half, the one example they gave was the Hearts goalie taking an age to retrieve the ball etc. The official also said it could easily have been 7 mins added on.

It's the same whinging that goes on whenever we score late. The score was tied at 90 mins and the extra five was there for BOTH sides to do something with. Stfu bitter tims.

  5. Not as such but he's still being a pundit on the Danish Champions League coverage and is looking well. A bit skinnier than he used to be, but not bad. I don't think it's really been mentioned much but Peter Schmeichel (who is in the studio too) asked him how he was doing and he said he was feeling good.

Glasgow: We sympathize with you, Brian

News of Laudrup's cancer has touched several Rangers fans deep in the heart.

Throughout the football world was the news of Brian Laudrup cancer received with deep sorrow.

Somewhere in the world hit the tragic news, however, harder and deeper. As in Glasgow, where Brian Laudrup is nothing less than a legend.

Brian Laudrup reached the peak of his career at Glasgow Rangers in the period 1994-1998, and is by many fans still considered the best foreign player in the Scottish Premier League ever.

Since news of Laudrup's illness yesterday, got out, several Rangers forums were about to boil over with praise and warm thoughts to the Danish icon.

Sporten.dk have gathered some of the most touching quotes.

Loykore writes: I was shocked when I heard the news. Get well soon Laudo!

Trueblue4life writes: Brian Laudrup is a legend and epitome of the word. To be honest, he was the reason why I started keeping with the Rangers when I was growing up.

This is terrible news and I am deeply shocked.

    Get well soon, Rangers icon.

King Kirk writes: I was close to tears when I heard it.

Chewbacca writes: Damn. This news hit me like a wall in the face.

I look forward to seeing you at Ibrox one day when you are healthy again. All the best Brian. We love you still.

Lilyadore writes: I just watched the news on TV, and my brother and I became quite pale in the face when we heard it. It's perfect hit when people say it feels like it was a family member.

He was my absolute greatest hero when I grew up, and he is still there.

Mkfan1990 writes: All the fans are behind you!

Tumshire writes: We should definitely sing "There's only one Brian Laudrup" to fight on Saturday.

TheBluebells writes: That says it all that my mother who is not interested in football, are deeply affected by it. She was not a fan of the club, but then their matches because Laudrup always created something special.

  7. Does any body know if tickets for the man u game will be sold as a single as il be on holiday during the bursaspor game and working during the valencia game. :disappointment:

I'm in the same boat - I find it near impossible to get to midweek games of any kind because of work, but I'm actually off on holiday that week in November, so the Man Utd game is the first midweek game I've been able to get to for a while, but they won't let me buy tickets for it. I just spoke to a guy in the ticket office who said they won't be going on sale individually, period, and if I didn't like it I could make a complaint to customer services.

I mean, I get why they do it, to try and make sure they don't end up with a sold out match for Man Utd and then empty sections for the other matches... but still it's f*cking infuriating for those of us that can't afford to buy 3 tickets just so we can get to one game.

  8. My pal and I had just got in to the pub when the interview/compilation thing they showed on Sky Sports started, we couldn't even see the screen but heard the voice and looked at each other going "that's Brian Laudrup!" and ran in. All the bears already in there were just standing gazing at the screen with smiles on their faces  Wish I had SS at home, I would've recorded it.

I first started going to Rangers games around the time we signed him, so he will always be probably my all time favourite player. Absolute legend.

  9. That's fucking atrocious reporting.

"It was claimed a gang of Gers fans descended on the stadium"

"The word is a gang of Rangers fans headed to Parkhead to noise up their rivals"

I'm no journalist, but I thought you had to have credible sources/witnesses for a story? Rather than a "my maw's brother's flatmate's pal's hairdresser telt me it wiz them" type nonsense.

I know it's The Sun, so really what do you expect, but still.
