  1. and at the end chiles saying to big eck "I dont know who they have got at the weekend but I bet its hard to get them up for it after this defeat"

first of all he should have done his research and know our opponents, and secondly he must have heard of a wee strike going on??

bunch of ignorant twats! make out as if scotland is about the same level as the blue square premier

  2. i was there, i was in picadilly when the screens went "off". now i can see from both sides... there were far too many people there for the space provided, people were crammed not just in the zone but in surrounding streets hoping to see the screen. there were people on roofs, balconys, the beer tent, everywhere. if we had scored then i honestly believe someone could have been crushed quite easily due to lack of preperation for our huge numbers. this is the reason that i think the screens were turned off, not failed, but turned off!!

i was there for about 4 hours before kick off in the fanzone, i had a great view of the screens, loads of drink and was having a brilliant time with my fellow bears... at this time the screens were working fine, displaying highlights from the road the manchester and plenty of money making adverts from the scottish sun for the local authorities to make some cash.

The screens continued to work fine until about 20 mins before kick off. at first we thought nothing of it, just wondered why the build up wasnt on, or the highlights... but the music was playing and we were all merry. then with about 10 mins until kick off messages were coming on the screen from someone saying that there are technical difficulties but they will be fixed, and urging for calm. time ticked away and the match kicked off, still there were messages for calm. by this time people were turning, we hadnt travelled all this way to manchester to miss our team in the UEFA Cup final, everytime a "failed attempt to fix the screen" occured people got angrier and some started booing and throwing things at the "technicians".

Then... about 10 mins into the match a notice on the screen changed from "it will be fixed" to sorry but you can watch it at the velodrome by the stadium. They had seemingly given up on the fix and diverted us somewhere else, nobody had a clue where. At this point me and my pals decided we would seek help in getting to the stadium, which the screen stated was 5 mins away... was it bollocks!!! after recieving no transport and no help from police it took a group of 50+ of us walking through shitey estates for 40mins to even get to the velodrome.

By this time it was half time. Now dont get me wrong it was great when we got there, much more room, better facilities and you could actually hear the atmosphere from inside the stadium itself... but there was still a sour taste from missing the whole first half. Anyway to cut a long story short we lost, left to head back to the station forgetting about the screen for sheer disappointment, feeling even more gutted as the fireworks went up from within eastlands, meaning them russian bassas were lifting our trophy...

i didnt realise the scale of what we had left behind until half way back to the centre. On that journey back I seen two cars on fire, a bloke drowning in the canal with police refusing to save him, a russian bleeding being carried to safety by two bears and police attacking people as they walked... it was crazy!!

i was staying in Leeds that night and took the train back, even the station was manic. The police were charging bears trying to get back to Glasgow, including women and children, cos they didnt have enough trains, people were running across the tracks to get on their train and we were packed on to the point of almost suffocation... it was horrible.

I am glad i managed to get out when I did, because with the heavy handedness of those police I know that something bad would have happened to me, I would have flipped like many did because they were out of order. I was one of the "lucky" ones who at least got to see some of the match, but I have no doubt that turning the screen off was a safety decision that seriously back fired.

They would have been much better moving people from picadilly to the velodrome hours before kick off, people may have been slightly annoyed but they would have been able to at least see the whole match and many at picadilly could have stayed.

the quote that somes up that day for me is something that an old yin said to me on the train back: "Manchester - They couldnae hold their own willy for a pish!"

  3. the JJB is still in operation, meaning the likelihood that it will remain umbro. the reason behind this is that JJB have shares in UMBRO and therefore use them as our supplier. If the deal is not renewed I will be worried as I have a feeling it will more likely be one of JJB Sports brands such as Champion rather than Nike or Adidas.

Really hope I am wrong. Adidas or Nike would see the standard of all training wear improve and would be better quality shirts. If Scotland can get Adidas, hopefully we can... but as I said I'm not holding my breath

  4. seen it on SSN just now, brilliant. loved how an interview about lyon possibly getting to the semi final of the champions league turned into J.A.B singing follow follow, saying he still loves rangers and that he is "a rangers fan". legend.

he still hasnt changed though. in a 3 min interview he has just touted himself around saying he would play for us again and would love to work under in his words "big eck" at birmingham.

im sure lyon fans would love to hear that interview
