  1. Love Boca but Captain Claudio still my #1. We should have more Americans in our side, missed a trick following Reyna's exit.

Would do well to nab some talent from MLS while working our way back up the leagues, many MLS teams are better than the topflight teams in Scotland and players get paid dirt cheap wages - most earn $50,000-$200,000 A YEAR. http://www.mlsplayers.org/files/August%201,%202012%20Salary%20Information%20-%20By%20Club.pdf

  2. Thought I had heard there was plan for Rangers to play some friendlies this summer in the U.S. . But with the s*** hittin

the fan in Feb. , that kinda ended that. Was hoping they would play one in Yankee stadium. I'm only about 10 minutes away

and it would finally give me a reason to go there.

They were to come over in the 2010 preseason to play Celtic at Fenway Park in Boston, DC United at RFK Stadium, and Club America (from Mexico) at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. The entire trip was scrapped after a Celtic supporting columnist for the Boston Globe attributed the Ibrox disaster to crowd trouble. Wish they had just found a replacement for the Fenway game and gone forward with the rest of the tour.

PS- a rep for the awesome signature.(my second fave)

Like you, I am an American.

  3. Cant believe I got neg repped for backing up Bocanegra. Just cant stand people comin on here and hatin

on a good player for no reason. I admit I am a huge fan of the USMNT and he is a player who definately

has my respect. Just some backround on me, I am a 7th generation American of Scottish descent and been

a Rangers fan for awhile. There are many here in the states. Not sure if people know that there are more

people in the U.S. of Scottish ancestry than there are in Scotland.

Shame the club didn't do more to go after the American market when we had two (Beasley, Edu) and then three (Edu, Bedoya, Bocanegra) Americans in the squad, missed opportunities. Last time they played over here was against LA Galaxy in May 2007.

  4. saw the Sky interview with him when he was in his car leaving training. He said it was a hard decision for him because he really loves the club. Emphasized that the good thing about the loan is that he gets to come back to Rangers.

i dunno but does anyone seriously think Boca will be with the club when we get back to the SPL? He'll be like 36 by then.

Can see him playing out the last year of his contract here (next year), then going to MLS for a year or two to finish it out. Just hope he gets to play that year here and that we don't sell him to MLS to get a fee when he returns.

Story is not going away... how do I say "take your bid and fuck off" in Spanish?

  6. What and by going to the 2nd division in spain is going to get him his place back. What alot of shite if he wants to go why not just be honest about it.

He's been utter shite since the start of the season everyone knows he doesn't want to be here.

Don't watch Spanish football but would guess that the 2nd division in Spain is a much higher level than SFL3. He's always said that he loves it in Glasgow and has always spoken highly of the club, like I said it was likely pressure from the USMNT coach. I'm not expecting a foreign player who has been here for a year to give up his longstanding role as captain of the national team to stay and play semi-pro clubs week after week, he has to make the decisions that are best for him and I understand that.

  7. Racing is about to close the signing of Bocanegra

Racing Santander is close to a deal to acquire the services of Carlos Bocanegra. The captain of the U.S. team belongs to Rangers Football Club, that after the difficult situation being experienced would have freed his players to go to another team.

At 33, Bocanegra could become the new reinforcement Cantabrian team in the coming hours.

A lot of talk here in the States that staying likely would have cost him his role in the US National Team...

  8. he moved on because sunderland are a bigger club than Rangers, arn't they? short memory loyal.

Every time there I've seen a thread about Reyna there is always one. From memory, he said the league was bigger. FWIW, when Beasley, Edu, & Bocanegra signed they mentioned talking to Claudio and him having nothing but good things to say about the club and selling them on it.

Former Ibrox star Claudio Reyna warns Bill Miller not to muck fans about

“Scottish football needs Rangers. Everyone around the world knows what kind of club they are – they truly are a global brand.”

Reyna spent almost three years at Ibrox after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 1999 and would love to help his old club out in their time of need.

He added: “In my short time at Ibrox I saw just what Rangers meant to so many people.

“I’ve been fortunate in my career to have travelled round the world but sometimes you just don’t realise what you have until it’s gone.

“From the supporters to the stadium, there are so many great things about the club. My wife and I had an incredibly enjoyable experience living in Glasgow.

“Whether it was in an official or unofficial capacity, I would love to help the club out.

“The only agenda I’d have would be trying to help Rangers get back on their feet.”

  9. Will be recognized (along with other 3 inductees) prior to tonight's U.S. National Team friendly against Brazil. Captain America!

    Reyna.jpgClaudio-Reyna1.jpg

Prior to Wednesday night's match between the U.S. men's national team and Brazil, a quartet of individuals who helped build the foundation for both men's and women's soccer in this country will receive their due.

Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong and Tony DiCicco will be inducted into the National Hall of Fame, and longtime journalist Grahame Jones will be honored as well, at a ceremony at FedEx Field before the friendly.

While New Jersey natives Michael Bradley and Tim Howard will help lead the United States into battle Wednesday, their predecessors and N.J. natives Reyna and Meola were two of the more influential players of the past two decades of U.S. Soccer. Reyna captained the national team and was a four-time World Cup veteran, earning 112 caps in 13 years of international play. Meola also hit the 100-cap mark and was a part of three World Cup teams, including the 1990 team that broke this country's 40-year drought of competing on the grandest stage.
