John Hartson just said that the first goal should give Walter an indication that Weir is finished.
For once, I actually agree.
-
If he is putting Lafferty on, that means he isn't changing the formation. All that's going to happen is Lafferty will play behind Jelavic, just like Naismith was.
Healy would be a better choice, and we can play with two strikers.
Weiss might be a good change too.
We can't just do a straight swap and keep on going at this rate.
Come on Walter.
-
Lafferty on.
Game over.
-
If we can get in at half time, and make some player changes and a change to the formation, I still have some hope.
Somehow I doubt Walter will make the right changes, if any change at all.
-
Whittaker finally puts a good ball in and nobody is there.
FML.
-
We are up shit creek now. Walter must not leave the team as it is. Celtic will walk away with this. We need a change.
-
To be honest, I'm still more impressed with Rangers today than the last OF, especially the second half of that OF. Sure, we haven't scored yet, but there has been some good movement up front between Jelavic and Naismith. Our midfield is lacking, as well as a slow defence, but our attack force is at least present today, unlike last OF.
-
Now it's time to see what Rangers are made of.
I'm worried that that isn't much.

Bouggie is all over the place. Love him.
-
Yeah, he got booked. 3 minutes in.
-
Hopefully somebody can have a word with Bartley and tell him to calm down a bit. He will never last the 90 if he gets riled up. Granted, I can't blame him. I would probably flatten Brown out if I came across him, but still!
-
People are just frustrated with how things are going. Can't blame them. It's so frustrating to watch.
-
Definitely has a lot of potential. I'm going to put down a lot of his mistakes to youth. I reckon once he gets into the swing of things, he could be a real force. I have my doubts that he will be here after the summer though.
-
Agreed. Strong header with a man marking him, unlike the goal at the other end.
-
I cannot fathom how any Rangers fan could hate Lafferty. Be frustrated by him? Yes. Wish he didn't play for us? Yes. Hate him? What has he done to warrant that?
For me, it's his dirty playstyle. He dives a lot and he is more than willing to cheat.
But, to be fair, there are many more players like him these days.
It's perhaps an unwarranted hate, but it's still there. Heh.
-
Absolute bollocks. I have a lot of time for him and I feel sorry for him for the disproportionate amount of stick he gets when the team as a whole fail to do the job. Every fucking time we get a bad result, including on occasions like tonight where the blame lies squarely with the management, a scapegoating thread pops up on here.
He's not a very good footballer. That's the only negative thing I have to say about him. So you speak for yourself.
Fair enough. But like I said, everybody I had talked to personally before now, hates him.
I'm glad I have met somebody who doesn't. Although I still do.
-
Another reason why I think people are so annoyed at Lafferty tonight, outside of his sub-par abilities, is because he isn't even likeable as a personality. Everybody I've ever talked to, Rangers' fan or not, hates him, including me. He cheats, dives, and can just generally be a really dirty player.
Everything adds up and it causes us to resent him.
-
Saying that, could be good news if we get knocked out.
In a roundabout manner, maybe. But if we get knocked out of this, and still don't win anything else, we'll have egg on our face. At least Jelavic is around for every other game.
-
its the total absence of a footballing brain that frustrates me the most about lafferty, he must be an absolute nightmare to play with.
I think that that point was made clear tonight when the ball came through to him, and he was through on goal, and he decided to strike it on the volley instead of playing it and probably scoring (well, at least, anybody with any sort of talent would have scored it).
-
On a positive note: How fucking good is Diouf ?
I was extremely happy with his performance tonight. He is a breath of fresh air in the team. If he keeps this up, I really hope we can get him permanently.
-
Had we not have drawn the game I doubt there would be the same frustration here.
Probably not, but that's always the case.
Personally, even at 1-0, I was still incredibly frustrated with Lafferty. Maybe at 3/4-0, I would have gotten over his missed chances, but with the actual result, I'm really gutted.
-
On the one hand, his chances tonight weren't exactly open-goal chances. They still needed a bit of work. However, on the other hand, any decent striker would have taken full advantage of them. Lafferty is not a decent striker. 3 goals in 21 games. Not good enough.
It's frustrating, though. He has shown signs of being a good player, albeit not very often.
I would be happy to see him dropped. We need somebody in the summer and badly.

I think we can take it for a given that, if Walter is going to make a change, it will be Lafferty.
It's such a nothing change. I have faith that McCoist would know better.
Come on McCoist! Perform a mutiny and get this sorted!
