  1. Look at the balance sheet and tell me if he has spent a lot on the squad, one man leaving is more than he has spent bringing in about 9. The many areas in which the board jeopardised our future probably don't really include over-investment in the first team squad. As we have seen in the past, it isn't a good idea to try and qualify for Europe and then spend the money on the players to play there, you need those players to qualify. At the time, it was a bit suspicious, but more and more now, it is obvious that the stories about buying Cuellar, Goodwillie, Juhazh, etc, were just to string us along.

I just don't feel this season, with the utter madness and turmoil going on has been anything that could give us a chance to judge the manager. Walter Smith left, stating that we needed substantial investment in the squad to keep us successful, the substantial investment didn't happen, neither did the success.

Over £5m by a club who cant break even without European football. Considerable investment in anyones book.

The utter madness and turmoil only started when we were out of all 5 competitions entered. With all due respect, i dont care what Walter said, buying is what he done best, i would expect nothing else said from a man who spent almost £40m in 4 years at a club who could not afford it.

We play in Scotland, not the EPL or La Liga, we dont need substantial investment to win for goodness sake, that is a defeatest myth spread by people who are used to spending money.

  2. Did Walter not spend around 14 million plus players on a Bosman for the 10 season.

Spent almost £15m between 29th May and 13th Aug that summer on 9 new players, with Gough arriving afterwards in Oct on a free. All 10 players played more than their fair share of matches that season.

  3. Dont try shiftin the limelight son, regardless of who you are, you've managed to build quite a reputation in a short period of time, now bask in it. I'll let you get on with being a cock, im doing my best not to argue with my own, especially just now, but its up for debate what your suppose to be. Theres not many bold enough to slate argueably the greatest manager we've ever had, you fire in.

    Nowhere near the greatest.

  4. How am i falling for this nonsense, i asked a question and even suggested the members may be wrong. I know swsl off RM, i dont believe your him. As much as i sometimes disgreed with swsl, i could generally see where he was coming from. I know he wasnt the biggest fan of Walter Smith, but i doubt he'd come out with the pish you have.

I couldnt give two fucks mate. I dont know the guy nor do i want to, he sounds like an out and out arsehole. It doesnt surprise me that you know him going by your previous on here.

  5. Few of my mates went down for the Blackpool v Hull game - all agreed he was the worst player on the park and some of them are bears :anguish:

That means nothing when its an opinion on a Rangers player to be honest.

  6. sorry to say this iv jist had a call from a player whos related to my self hes bin told tis a yank thats oot front in the race to buy the club dont no how true this is but i suspect he nos more than we do thats for cert as i a said dont no if true but he should no he prob the senior player at club if not one of them anyway

Was it Big Lee, he told me too but i thought he was at it.

  7. Rght, so to summarise, by your reckoning in the summer of 08 we didnt need investment prior to kaunas, even though we went out and signed davis mendes edu, and to replace cuellar, bougherra. Thats what you said, isnt it. Your arguement was that we already had davis, even though that wasnt true and, incredibly, your trying to wriggle out of that. So we didnt need davis, because he was already here, even though we signed him afterwards. Ok, gotcha.

Also, you previously stated "look where that spending spree has got us". Well, that "spending spree" more than paid for itself, not least because we took in £11M in transfers for two players, ive not even looked to see if we sold anyone else.

Also, mendes was excellent for us, helping us to a championship that season. Eventually we sold him for £1.5M. Not great but id say it was £1.5M well spent given our return. Edu's still here, as is davis, and we lost £1M on bougherra. Hardly kamakaze stuff

Yes. No investment was needed to get past a club with a budget the size of a St Mirren or Hamilton. They were absolutely shite and our reserves should have been good enough to beat them. Yes, thats what i said.

There was no argument until you took offense to someone disagreeing with you. No, we didnt need him, thats right.

That European exit and subsequent spending spree was the start of the famous £33m debt which led to the bank taking charge. That is no secret.

Mendes was alright. Too many games passed him by though. Thats right we made a loss on him, another one and only had him for a season and a half.

Murrays transfer policies were so kamikaze in fact the bank had to put a block on us signing any new players for a period. Unheard of surely in the world of football unless clubs are in administration which we of course were not.

  8. Your unbelievable. I said the team needed investment pre kaunas and you said it didnt. I said we signed davis after kaunas and you said he was already here! You have no idea why the deal being made permanent after kaunas has any relevance? Because we needed him! your oot yer tits on something mate, it must be bangin.

    Thats because it didnt.

I already said what i meant by that. He was here the season previous but at no point did i say he was involved in the Kaunas matches. It just looked like that because of the way i explained it in my post. Apologies for that.

  9. So we needee him after kaunas, didnt we. So we signed him after kaunas, didnt we.

No we didnt need him, yes he was already at the club. He played all the way from January until May the season previous. That is correct. I didnt mention whether he was in the team or not against Kaunas. The deal made permanent after Kaunas, yes, although i have no idea what relevance that has to this.

  10. If you are convinced that Ally will be gone before August 2012, it isn't a gamble is it? It would be like picking up money off the street. I'm even willing to send you my £100 stake now.

    Good for you.

  11. Firstly, he has a huge popularity within the support at large, and secondly, I think it all comes down to the signings. There are players that he wanted to buy, and he wasn't able to get them (Cuellar, Goodwillie et al) and when taking the bargain basement options, he had a hit and miss run, which is what you would expect given the lack of support he has had from the boardroom.

His performance over the last few weeks has been like a one-man PR machine, and has been befitting of his status as a legend in the club. With all that in mind, he deserves the opportunity, and any new owner would be very brave to ditch him.

I dont think he does. We only ended up bargain basement because we failed to qualify for Europe, its not the clubs fault the manager is unable to work with the second highest budget in the country. Its not like he is working on strings as tight as Danny Lennon, Kenny Shiels or Steve Lomas! In fact he has had too much support, the board jeopardised our future by allowing him to spend so much on his squad.

Good PR doesnt win football matches. Maybe the new manager will make him PR Executive?

  12. Super Ally, Super Ally oh way oh way oh way!

Aye, hes doing a grand job. Hopefully he can take us into the group stages and get a domestic clean sweep, the standard in Scotland this year is pathetic. Oh wait........

  13. After the torment the club is and will be going through before next season, the chances of a new owner immediately replacing the manager are approximately zero.

For the last couple of weeks I've been thinking you were getting much more criticism than you deserve, but with this thread you have proven me wrong. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Our torment is over, the only way is up from here.
