  1. My thoughts are this, currently the scouts have been not to bad if you consider McLeod, Hutton, Henning, Aird, McKay, Crawford, Adams, McCormack, Shinie, Wilson, Burke and so on, etc but like everything else it needs to be developed better. The problem is we do not develop these youngsters to our advantage, we end up just selling or we dont give them game time this is an area that needs to be inproved better what we do is buy in bigger players to win success or compete with the east end.

This is fair, but looking at that list of players mentioned you're only really talking about home grown players, who us and them naturally have the pick of for the most part.

We should have been looking at an enormous scouting network a decade ago, our lack of investment in lesser utilised regions of the world is hindering us.

  2. No because then we will be stuck with sub standard players we will never be able to uncover a superstar or any player with the potential to be worth over £7 or £8 Million we need to do the hard work and set it up ourselves.

to be fair, the right player for us won't necessarily be the right player for Arsenal. It doesn't mean they'll necessarily be substandard, just not right for that team.

There could well be benefits in this type of approach.

  3. I get the points made that we should have concerns, after last year it would be ridiculous not to.

But what we have to understand is that there will be bumps in the road financially in the years to come. It would happen to any business that was picking itself up after a nightmare finance scenario.

Just because the rabid hordes in the press jump on every last little financial nugget that they can doesn't mean we need to sniping at each other left, right and centre.

Questions should of course be asked, but it would be naive to the point of insanity to believe we'll never have any debt again, of any sort. Particularly in a business that doesn't offer standard cashflow.

  4. What's the panic about. It's a nothing story, that will of course get blown out of proportion, but vulture "journo's" lurking on this site can now happily fill their boots with headlines like "Rangers fans in panic mode over winding up order."

It's a nothing story, gained weight by the fact that they can link it all to last year as much as they like.

I'd expect this to happen again. Worldwide we're seen, as we should be, as the same club that was in dire straits financially not all that long ago. Businesses that haven't been paid, disputes regardless, will go straight to red alert in these scenarios to try and get us to cough up whether we agree with the bill or not.

It will stay that way for quite some time to come, but we don't need to add to the rumours by imploding at the first sign of trouble. Particularly when it's water being stirred by that fud.

  5. When Albertz scored a penalty against them at the back end of 99 my mate was driving us down to Tweedsmuir for a wedding in a big bastard of a landrover. The type with just benches rather than seats in the back. We skidded on black ice, hit a sign post and turned over. Just onto our side rather than a full revolution.

The only major casualty was my gameboy.

  6. Gogs n me just wanted a few cans on board n sit through the day trying to find the beast not Jimmy saville haha but just seems unfair like. Police wud have pocketed it no doubt cos license boy was oan th phone in his office at the time. Ness is that music festival going radio rental silly so it's lomand. No way th council wud stage a concert near the monster site the hash fumes wud sink it further eh

    Translation if required:

"Gordon and I merely wanted to partake in a few tipples whilst undertaking a water based beast hunt. By this I do not mean the paedophile currently splashed throughout the broadsheets so it seems frightfully unfair. The constable in question must have made away with our bullion as the member of licensing staff was currently engaged on the telephone. Due to the rather obnoxious lot currently "enjoying" the Rock Ness music festival we decided, against our better judgement, to make our way to Loch Lomond, in the pursuit of the lesser known Lomondie. The local council declined to stage a concert in too close a proximity to the home of the original mythical creature as the fumes from the lower classes marijuana cigarettes would cause the noble creature to sink further."

Hope this clarifies for anyone struggling.

  7. Don't know what to make of this, more money in equals a much brighter future but I'd boke if Ibrox was splattered with that huge Sports Direct logo. As someone said above, why can't Apple sponsor us? It would be perfect! iBrox Stadium...

Apple doesn't need the advertising. Would never happen.

  8. I do,because him and his ilk have done untold damage to our club and us as supporters.

Check out his twitter page, his likes and photo's etc, lots of funny wee pics from around the Gallowgate with the JOlly craicsters.

This guy has a huge international profile and MAc gobbidygook, mcglone,McLaughlin, daly and all know this. They have played him like an auld fiddle, and his hubris won't let him back down.

We must make sure him and his kind get so badly burned that it never happens again.

I have no problem with journalist exposing the truth,no matter how unsavoury it may be,but this has been a well thought out and executed plan by the celtic-minded to destroy not only our club, but also our way of life.

They made it a shameful thing to be a Protestant,or from a Protestant background by insinuating over the years, links to nazism, kkk and the demonisation of the working class Protestant.

    It's a fucking war mate.

    good post.

I've made several posts previously about my doubts over the religious aspects of the Rangers witch hunt. I've said this as I'm completely atheist and have never been involved or really seen anything sectarian in the past.

But who the fuck am I to say that? If I'm not involved in that aspect of our support how can I possibly state that it's nothing to do with a concerted effort against the working class Protestant?

Maybe time for a little rethinking on my part.

  9. Meanwhile the billions of ponds of tax evasion by Starbucks, Facebook, Google, Amazon etc etc doesnt get a mention. Its just Rangers that are at fault. Rangers and poor people.

Exactly that. Whilst I've no time for benefits cheats the money they cheat the entire nation out of is negligible compared to the billions evaded by big business.

Far better for the government to wage a war against football clubs and the genuinely incapacitated rather than go after the corporate entities they spend half their time sucking off though.........

  10. I don't know where I stand with this at the minute. I think finance is something we need to be as prudent as possible with and this would net us the money, but it just feels wrong in my gut.

We've had all and sundry trying to take whatever they can off us for far too long and this would feel just the same.........

    On the Fence Loyal.

  11. Mine replied yesterday.

    Dear ......

Thank you for your e-mail about Glasgow Rangers FC and the First Tier Tax Tribunal (FTTT) decision relating to tax liabilities of the club arising out of the club’s use of Employee Benefit Trusts to make payments in the form of tax-free loans.

I have been critical of the way that HMRC have dealt with this issue, and I wrote to the Chancellor of the Exchequer last June, emphasising the historical role and importance of Rangers to the Scottish Premier League, and urging a way forward that didn’t require liquidation of the club. Unfortunately, the Chancellor did not agree with the views I expressed.

The present position, as I understand it, is that the FTTT have ruled by a majority of two to one that the club did nothing wrong in using Employee Benefit Trusts. One of the reasons why the decision took so long to be made public was, I understand because of the fact that it was not a unanimous decision.

I also understand that there is a possibility that HMRC may appeal against the decision to an Upper Tier Tax Tribunal (UTTT), which I feel would be a waste of taxpayers’ money.

I do not believe that Rangers FC have been treated fairly, nor do I believe that the Chancellor understands the economic contribution that the club makes to Scottish football, and also to the UK economy as a whole.

Concerns have also been raised about the leaking of confidential tax information. I will write to the Chancellor on your behalf to raise these concerns, and I will send you a copy of my letter.

I will be back in touch once I receive a reply from the Treasury.

    Yours sincerely

    Michael McCann MP

    really good response that actually

  12. I say they will. There's a genuine push across the media, the government etc to put tax avoidance and it's implications front and centre at the minute.

Aside from our situation they'll be hoping that they can find a way to take a few scalps publicly and make up for the ripping they took after settling with vodafone etc.

It's a complicated time, and given they only have one dice left to roll, I suspect they'll go for it.

  13. Agree with poster who said simply ban guests from viewing posts. Other sites do that.

Haven't read the full thread, is there a reason we don't want to do this? It may simply encourage more non-Rangers fans to join simply so they can report us, but will still reduce the number of reports to FOCUS.

I'd suggest that the type of individual that goes out of their way to report to FOCUS is already a member on this site and as many others as possible.
