  1. Thanks once again! If any of you fancy a day off from supporting the biggest team in Scotland you are more than welcome to sample t'Classico, Burnley vs Blackburn. I think it's one of the last truly great English derbies, but since it's been 35 years since we beat them, the pressure is on us! It's small, and it's never on TV (mostly because the BBC think we're Barnsley), but there's more passion than in Old Trafford or the Ethiad. RFC Eagle is right, never mention 'them lot down the road' to a Claret. However, if you mention about Venky's, Steve Kean and their current turmoil you'll get your beers for free (Bonus points for mentioning PNE too, by the way) The song, 'Paisley Road West' is amazing, is it sung often at Ibrox?
  2. Lads, thanks very much. clan macrae, I'll do it now, the way the club was dragged through the dirt was horrific. Judderman, great idea, but I'm sorry, I'm not home until September so we can meet next season, have a few beers etc. Can't wait to go! Thanks to everyone for your kind offers and words. I think we Burnley fans owe you lads a bit after the Lafferty fiasco. To be honest, we've had some fantastic strikers recently: Blake, Fletcher, Rodriguez (keep an eye on him), Austin.. and Lafferty was no-where near this class, lazy, arrogant and mostly ineffective. Plus he had a terrible attitude, fell out with the fans and demanded to leave. As he was an Ulsterman I could see why he wanted to join Rangers and I always hoped he would do well, so the Sion debacle revealed his true personality (from my limited understanding) Rangers should definitely come down to England for friendlies. I think it would only bring positives to a club that is so often targeted by the Scottish media, and would reveal the true British side to the club that doesn't exist anywhere else in England. Fans would absolutely love it!
  3. bluesbro1976, proper gentleman, thanks mate. I won't ask for a ticket but when we do come up it would be great to meet up and go to a 'sash bash', which sounds brilliant
  4. Haha not a problem, since Coyle (clown) was sacked, Bolton don't figure for us so much. I agree with the pro-Rangers sentiment too, you have fans everywhere, especially in Northern Germany I heard. One lad in my town in Czech has a Celtic tattoo all up his arm but can't speak a word of English. Pronounced celtic like "keltic". Idiot! If that's the fans they have then I guess they are welcome to them
  5. sillybilly, thanks pal. Rangers ARE the quintessential British side, there's only one big club North of the border that's truly Scottish, truly British. I don't know how you feel personally, and disregarding the obvious huge financial benefits of it, but I would love to see Rangers play in the English leagues one day, and the Prem too. I think with Scotland's inherent league problems, there's no better time to do it than now.
  6. clan macrae, it's bloody great being British! 1 of Her Majestys Subjects, I have one of the pin badges with Burnley and Rangers but I haven't seen any scarves! I'm usually in the Foresters before, remember when there was an Old Firm before a Burnley game and it was packed, amazing how many fans Rangers have throughout the world. There's one Septic fan who marauds up and down the high street, rancid. Couldn't imagine a Septic-Burnley shirt, and truthfully, there's no club as vile as them lot. I'm sorry for you all that you have them in your city, after all, it is your city Cheers to all of you, I wondered how you would treat an outsider and I was anxious about the thought of not fiting in at Ibrox, but next year you will see me all clad in Blue, cheering on the Blues I'm in Czech Rep, so any exile Bears are welcome for a chat about football! Was at a Dinamo Zagreb game at the start of the season with a Union flag but unfortunately protocol there doesn't allow for pics inside the stadium. Also, the Green and White love-in in some European countries is horrendous unfortunately.
  7. B.R.G.S. 'Canadian' haha. I live about 6 miles from the town. Please don't call me a Tim!
  8. Thanks everyone. I think my passion for the Bears has grown since moving abroad, and you're totally right Copland bear, there's noting like Rangers here. Thinking about it, missing home and subsequently seeing those union flags and a club which is actually proud of their country makes me love them even more! And of course your ground (appears) to have amazing character, with a noise unparalleled. Too many grounds here have the same feel, Coventry, Boro, Doncaster etc. At least Burnley can boast wooden seats Jamie G54, absolutely. I can't wait. I need to find a few local lads who'd be up for a trip North, make a weekend of it. We played Partick Thistle in a friendly under Coyle when we reached the Prem (you know we're bigtime when you play Thistle) and we met some Rangers fans there. Top Lads!
  9. Cheers, DarcheVinny, I was there for the League cup game a couple of years ago, friendly fans and an away end looking directly in the sun!
  10. Hello! I'm an exiled English Burnley fan and I wanted to congratulate you first and foremost on a successful season, despite some of the poor performances you've had to endure! I've been reading the forum for a long time, and I've had a fascination with your great club for much longer. It's getting to the point where I'm watching and checking for Rangers' results before Burnley's, which is coming as a bit of a shock, let me tell you. I can't put my finger on an exact moment where and when this happened. I'm not old, 23, and so I perhaps missed the glory days of Scottish football as a whole. But one image that struck me when I was younger were the Old Firm derbies. We just don't have anything like it south of the border, more's the pity. My club share a particularly 'fierce' rivalry with Bla*kburn, but it's nothing like what you have, and to see the terraces decked out in Union flags, the incessant singing, the pride! And of course the sheer righteousness of your cause, against the great green evil that lurks in your city I don't want to bore you to death. All I wanted to say was that the way that your fans, Ally and some players (obviously not Lafferty, seems we both hate that git now eh?)acted during last year won you a lot of fans. And to see Ibrox packed in the lowest league shows the true unrivaled strength of your club. When I return to the UK next season I can't wait to see Rangers. YATP
