  1. Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz has been sacked as Portugal coach with immediate effect, the Portuguese Football Federation (PFF) has confirmed.

The move comes a week after the 57-year-old was suspended for six months for disrupting an anti-doping test.

The former Manchester United assistant boss was also criticised for Portugal's poor performance at the World Cup finals and in Euro 2012 qualifiers.

"Carlos Queiroz's contract is settled with immediate effect," said the PFF.

Where did it all go wrong for the man that could have had a big say in getting the man utd job?

  2. His wages should have been put towards Boyd's contract

It was Boyd's decision to leave after his deal expires!

It sure was but a little extra cash may have persuaded him to stay with us.. even if he never got the cash a better quality of player could have got it. Every penny helps in our situation, wasting it on him does not help.

Boyd wasn't worth anymore extra money, he was already offered more than enough!

We will never know what Boyd was really offered or what he really wanted but ive already said other players could have got that ££.

  3. On one hand, he would bleed for the shirt, and he can play all across the back four, which are two very important assets. On the other though, I'm not convinced he's good enough for a 'bumper' deal, as I don't think he's good enough for a place in our first eleven, and I'll be disappointed if he's played ahead of the likes of Perry, Wylde and Little.

Bleed for the shirt, your havin a laugh... He was offered a deal 3 months ago and rejected it straight away, because he didn't know who the manager would be this coming season. If your gonna bleed for the shirt you play under any manager at the club no matter what. Phrases and sayings like that get kicked about too often amongst our players.

His wages should have been put towards Boyd's contract, if the club is certain on saying no players need to leave and are serious on using youths then we have a good amount of defensive options. A starting back four of Whittaker Webster Bougherra Papac with Perry, Wylde, MacMillan, Little, Weir and Wilson as backup. There may not be experienced fullbacks as backups but when are the youngsters supposed to get experience?

    Money wasted imo.

  4. Laryea Kingston, Michael Stewart, Jose Goncalves and Christian Nade will leave Hearts this summer as the club shed four of their highest-paid players.

And Australian winger Rocky Visconte has already returned to his homeland to join A-League outfit Brisbane Roar.

Stewart, stripped of the club captaincy in the final weeks of the season, is currently in talks with Turkish Superleague side Genclerbirligi.

The midfielder did not feature in the final three games of the season.

His departure will end 29-year-old Stewart's three-year spell with Hearts, with whom he had first spent time on loan while with Manchester United before joining Edinburgh rivals Hibernian.

Portuguese defender Goncalves, who returned to Hearts this season after a year-long loan to Nuremberg, had not been chosen for the first-team since March.

    Jose Goncalves and Christian Nade

Goncalves and Nade have not played for Hearts for several months

Manager Jim Jefferies said that he would no longer pick the 24-year-old because he had rejected the offer of a new contract.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old French striker Nade, who arrived at Tynecastle after leaving Sheffield United in 2007, has not played for Hearts since 10 April.

Kingston, who joined Hearts from Russian club Terek Grozny in 2007, had featured for the Edinburgh outfit in the latter part of the season after recovering from injury and had expressed his hope of being offered a new contract.

The 29-year-old midfielder is presently training with Ghana's World Cup squad after being chosen in Milovan Rajevac's 30-man provisional squad.

Visconte had come through Hearts' youth system and played three times for the first team in January before being loaned out to First Division side Ayr United.

Meanwhile, Hearts have released striker Ryan Wallace and youth midfielders Elias Wagner and Billy McKenna.

Like Visconte, Wallace had made his first-team debut in January and made one more substitute appearance.

Austrian winger Wagner famously joined Hearts in 2007 only days after being released by neighbours Hibs as he was unhappy at his lack of games.

However, the 19-year-old, who suffered a double leg break last summer, failed to make the breakthrough at Tynecastle.
