  1. not a chance only Bell, Mohsni, Wallace Law, Templeton, Boyd and obviously a few youngsters would get a game in our squad before the financial trouble began and none of them other than Wallace would be good enough for a start.

I have to disagree with mohsni, he would be nowhere near our 2011/12 squad imo.

  2. In the top division do we have a good enough squad to win the league first time of asking?

    If yes, why?

    If not, why?

I dont believe we can as things stand.

Other than wallace, mcleod, templeton and possibly law and clark we need almost an entire squad to put state aid saville fc in their rightful place. I just dont see how we can achieve it without investment and a fresh managerial approach.

  3. Seem to be missing the point, everyone seems to think he's improved since he left us and are using last season as an example. He's just the same player and a good few years older.

It would've been nice to see the club actually look beyond domestic football and coach/buy players to be better than the rest of the dross in Scotland.

That will require a scouting dept.

  4. Greig split his chin open at training a few weeks prior to the final and had to get stitches. The club doctor wouldn't allow him to shave it in case he burst the stitches, uneven though the no facial hair rule was in effect at Ibrox.

IMO it should still be enforced, and players should arrive at training and games in club suit and tie like tradition dictates. Hated seeing the players come off the bus in track suits, that's not Rangers class.

"To be a Ranger is to sense the sacred trust of upholding all that such a name means in this shrine of football. They must be true in their conception of what the Ibrox tradition seeks from them. No true Ranger has ever failed in the tradition set him."

It was a peach of a beard, i seem to recall he fell into a park bench chasing a ball.

Those having a go at beards are obviously pubeless wonders who cant grow one and crywank over the bumfluff on their top lip every 3 weeks :D

  5. I was working in lytham when we beat bayern in 72 but my old man and grandad was there.

Parma was a special night, ortega got booed every time he touched the ball.

Leeds 92 was sensational as well, i just sat down and ping mcallisters rocket.

Marseille 92 at ibrox, psv & sturm graz in 2000 were great nights too.

I was in bremen in 2007 that was incredible also.

  6. This thread was only to show the truth behind their situation, not everything is as rosy as slanty eyes and the Scottish media make out.

I know we have plenty of our own problems to deal with, but a lot of theirs are being overlooked because of the constant bombardment of rangers.

If and its a big IF they fail to qualify for the CL this season their attendence figures will be shocking as they cake walk another meaningless title.

They need us back in pronto.

Let's just hope their luck runs out soon and the truth comes out about their dealings.

Next season may not be a bad as some think?

    We can only hope....

If they dont make the CL proper this year the financial ramifications will be profound.

Their wage bill is still astronomical but the true indication of their financial situation is how much they spend on new players and how much fothter goes to a relegation battling EPL side for.

  7. If we had Boyd and Miller in the team last season we would have imo beat DU in the semi final and probably went on to lift the cup.

Would be a good move in the short term to bring in Boyd, I don't think the club in its current circumstances could realistically bring in a more prolific goal scorer... and if it keeps Daly out the team then it cant be a bad thing. (tu)

Sometimes you need to take a step back to move forward, frustrating as it is that's where we're at. Maybe some time soon the club will be in a better financial position to properly plan for the long term and bring in some quality younger players for our return to top flight .

    Couldn't agree more.

  8. Sod Goodwillie, he has never proved anything since leaving DUTD. THAT is the whole reason we looked at Miller/Boyd. We need a mix of youth and experience but I dont think Goodwillie really ticks either of these boxes.

You are right however my gut instinct says he would be worth a punt. One year contract with the option of another to see if he couod recapture his form as there is definetly a player in him.

Papers will regurgutate every negative story daily about him if he did sign for us.
