  1. do you think that allan hutton might be thinking

maby i should of waited till the end of the season because of how well we are doing in all trophies unlike spurs who got put out of uefa and only just won the carling cup and isnt going to win anything eles with the spurs yet if he had stayed he would still be in the running of 4 cups

You seriously believe Hutton wanted to move?

  2. I truly believe Kirk will become a great Rangers player.

    That's not blind sycophancy....that's observation.

To think he is not even playing in his natural/experienced position.

I believe he is (and will prove to be) an absolute gem.

Some may find scorn in this but those of old will recall I lauded Hutton similar when he was a running joke for many.

I ALWAYS thought Svensson was very poor.

Therefore, I am confident in what I say re. Kirk.

  3. After Rangers made the last 8 of the Uefa Cup, Major clubs around Europe (Especially in England) will start looking at the Rangers team as they try to sign decent players.

The success of Alan Hutton has not gone unnoticed and in recent weeks the likes of Ferguson and Cuellar have been linked with moves down south (Keegen wants both). Cousin has already alerted the Premiership (Fulham) and Allan McGregors performance tonight will be watched by many top clubs over the next few days. I'm sure there are a few others that will be on the radar as well.

No matter who we draw in last 8, I fully expect Ibrox to be full of Scouts looking at our players.

At Rangers, can we have Euro Success and hold on to our star players?

Or will we be rebuilding again in the Summer?

Euro sucess turning out bad? Millions of pounds in revenue, players who are going commanding a higher price. A better quality of players wanting to sign for us next season.

    U mad?

    You missed his point.

    I haven't.

Keegan and other onlookers can't afford players like Fergie because they aren't for sale.

Any players we sell will surely attain a higher price if we do well in Europe.

    You haven't this time.

    I hope you're right then.

    I really do. :rangers:

That is up to Martin Bain.

    Sadly.

  6. Pathetic.

The young man has talent in abundance, a couple of nervy moments this evening but an equally brilliant shot on goal in the 1st 15 mins (for somme reason I'm the only one that remembers it)

    He'll prove every fucker wrong

    Jiminez,

I agree with you, Charlie is a good player but is still young and at times makes the wrong decisions in games and when you play for Rangers you are not allowed to do that.

If only our supporters would realise what it is like out there one the field, with the pace of the game, the pressure, making split second decisions when you don't have the luxury or the time to see see the whole pitch and make a measured pass then you have to make allowances. Give the guy a break FFS.

    Potentially wise words indeed.....

Many youngsters though display such attributes consistently in world football.

How old do you become before you stop giving allowances?

Ferguson was excellent and far more consistent at a younger age.

    Ronaldo, Messi?

    Dare I say it, McGeady?

Age is often used as an escapism for poor performances.

    Charlie was very poor tonight.

His age doesn't come into it.

I wish him well and see a good player deep within there but it's more to do with fitness, desire and attitude rather than age with Charlie IMO.

Comparing him to fans is bizarre.

We are not paid to be professional footballers though we view them often and as such have a measured opinion of worth.

  7. In the context of the match I can't find fault with those scores.

Perhaps generous to the midfielders but they knew what they had to do.

With regards to McGregors's kicking, it was clear he was told not to put it central due to the height of the opposition's central defence.

The fact that they went somewhat wayward occasionally then was not really a fault of his kicking - rarely would a goalkeeper be given such an instruction.

Again, a fact that we had clear tactics, even if they did not pay off all the time.

5 times he booted the ball straight out the park. Thats poor kicking.

His punt outs were too long and were easy for the Bremen back line.

    True.

    And?

He never got a ten after all.

A better goalkeeping display in Europe this season I've yet to see.

I really don't care about his kicks...but they weren't great admittedly.

So I think a nine is fair, don't you?

Agreed ,Charlie has the talent and judging by this thread hes also got the character as well given the amount of bears that slag him off yet he stays silently dignified If i was him i tell you all to fuck off ,give the guy a break ,how many of you where complaining when he made a fanny out of that wanker boruc at ibrox, none and thats not a guess thats a fact.

Squad is begining to get stretched at the business end of the season and slagging of our players isnt going to do any good ,get behind the players .Iv seen so many posts on here tonight proclaiming brothers in arms etc but this thread make me think otherwise.

I do rather like Charlie Adam.

As I said, he is the best striker of a ball in our team.

I'd love him to do well.

    I wish he'd get 100% fit though.....

It is clear he fades in games...if he could maintain his fitness for 90 mins, he'd be a gem more often than not.

  10. It was never 'anti-football' when Scotland played it...in fact we (Scotland) were lauded to the skies.

As said before...it is playing to your strengths, minimising your weaknesess.

Oh and it's winning football also.

    <cr>

Apart from the games that the luck was not there and we and Scotland lost. <cr>

There is no such thing as 'luck'.

Scotland weren't good enough in the end.

    We'll see how Rangers do.

I tend to think this UEFA campaign is at least a year too early (in respect to our team) and I suspect Walter would agree.

Don't give me luck though as a reason we're where we are.

Lucky would be if a pigeon deflected a misplaced shot into the net for us...everything else is pure football.

  11. Yes he can be so aggravating. Up until about 4 weeks ago he was being continually abysmal, but then he had three really good games. Surprised me too and I thought - give him a chance. Tonight he was abysmal again as was Bazza, but I have a better feeling about him since these past three good games and will give him a chance again. If he reverts back to his "old" abysmal form I will be cringing yet again.

Yes he was abysmal tonight...and yes, Barry was dire.

In Barry's case that is rare though and he clearly was given extra attention once more by the opposition.

Until we have an individual who can strike a ball better than Adam in the team then he will always have his worth.

Whether that says more about the others or Adam is up to debate.

Had we an Albertz of old then this league would be a stroll...

We don't, so Adam is the next best bet...

He either improves in consistency or we dedicate ourselves in finding a player who can cleanly strike a ball with power.

I wonder if Cousin is any good at free kicks.......

  12. The ironic thing is, despite all the adulation, he is all-round, clearly superior to 'jazz hands' Boruc (decent shot stopper though he is)...in simple goalkeeping terms.

As for Gordon, they're on a par right now IMO.

  13. To lift the Uefa Cup.

But we just beat one of the favourites.

No one will relish drawing us tomorrow.

    No one.

Incredibly we are regaining our European credibility under the same man who originally decimated it.

We are now a team opponents fear.

And that has not been the case for a VERY long time.

Rangers European 'credibilty' was long on the wane before Walter Smith entered Ibrox.

The myth that he somehow reduced it is simply that, a myth.

Perhaps it is because he made us a more successful team in Scotland, but in Europe, we stayed more or less the same as before his original tenure.

    Bar '93 of course.

But those who tend to knock his European record tend to forget that year or worse, dismiss it as a fluke.

He did NOT decimate our European credibility in any sense.

    That is simply a fact.

  14. Words cannot express how good those vids are to watch.

    Truly emotional stuff.

    My thanks.

    Welcome to RM Luce (tu)

Thanks but I was here before.

Took a year off the net (more or less) to concentrate on my degree.

Any chance of getting my several thousand posts back? ;)

    Tis ok..I'll make them up.

So good to be talking about success rather than debating the merits of PLG.

Tut tut Jadams...I talked to you a lot as well.

    Rings a bell now :D

    Lucy_blue was your original name?

    Indeed it was.
