  1. he also had success with the same tactics for scotland. He has had to adapt and play defensivle with the everton job and scotland job as they were both teams that were not as powerful as rangers were when he was 1st here.

It was over 10 years since he was here so he has had plenty time to improve the tactical side of things and he has got it mostly right in europe this year, Better than all but 1 of his previous CL campaigns IMO.

Agreed. I used to cringe on CL nights in his last stint, but now i realy look forwards to them with confidence.

  2. Good question mate. But it is simple i think. He has just learned a lot more in his time away from Ibrox. H had his stint at Everton and although that is not the CL he is still playing a far highest quality f opposition week in week out against teams that are in the CL with brilliant players and great tactical mangers/coaches so he was on a massine ;learning curve there.

Then he had his time at man U with Fergie who will have helped him a lot too.

I think he has got his tactics spot on so far.

  3. Would also like to see Davie Weir installed into the coaching staff once he retires. Think he'd be a terrific guy to have on board.

I always wanted Colin Hendry to come back in some sort of coaching role, him and Wier are similar though.

Bomber Brown too could be a future coach as i see today he took over as boss at Dumbarton.............

  4. Thats the first time i have seen that and i have got goose pimples all over me. The goal against Hibs in the Skol cup, i was at that with the old man and thats the first time i have seen that as i had always thought it was'nt on camera. We went out that night too because we had lost 2-0 at ER.

Cheers for sticking that up mate. :rangers:

  5. I always remember, the Rangers News used to a player profile and one question was "what's your pre-match meal?" Davie was my hero and he ate tomato soup!

Nowadays a nutritionist would have him eating all sorts and he'd be way way fitter. But could you ever have taken that slow, languid way he had and changed it? I don't know, maybe he wouldn't even have liked today's game with its showy, over-paid stars.

Part of the magic about Davie was the way he'd just sort of wander about, collect the ball and come alive.

    Sadly missed but never forgotten.

Great point and we can't realy answer it though. Who knows.............

  6. I can't possibly see the lost revenue is only 5m - does the FA get really so little from shirt sales and official memorabilia? If they do only stand to lose 5m then someone needs to work out why they can't turn a place at the Euros into cash.

You might find that is what they get initialy from qualifying alone??

  7. For me it will always be Davie Cooper because he was my first hero in life outside my family. He could be a lazy so and so at times but when he was on the boil no one could touch him. I wonder what he would be like nowadays because he would be a lot fitter than he was.

Laurdrup, i don't need to say anything as it's all been said above.
