GEORGIOS SAMARAS was adamant today Celtic should have been awarded a last-minute penalty against Barcelona last night.
With Celtic trailing 3-2, the Greek striker went down in the box after a challenge from Yaya Toure. But, instead of pointing to the penalty spot, Swedish referee Peter Frojdfeldt booked the Celt for diving.
It was the last chance for Gordon Strachan's side to draw level. And Samaras, a second-half sub for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, feels hard done by today.
He said: "There was contact. If he didn't touch me I would have wanted to stay on my feet and try to finish the opportunity. For me that was easier than diving and taking a risk. I feel better when I stay on my feet and try to score. I'm disappointed the referee didn't award a penalty but I also respect his decision."

I think the problem with rangers is our midfield and wing-backs. Nothing to do with the strikers.
Id stick Boyd and Naismith up front every game, if we had the players from midfield and the wingbacks providing the strikers with chances like they should be doing.

Papac has been an excellent defender this year. Stevie Smith should have to fight and claw to scratch his way back into the team.

Why?? He's been a perfectly good player for us. Why not kee him? If not in the first team...still as a backup...

to be honest...i'd play buffel just behind boyd up front...
with ferguson, hemdani, mcculloch and novo in midfield...
he actually chases the ball a lot and is great at getting in behind the defence and running at them...
i really hope he plays.

Would you put him straight into the team or keep Papac at left back just now?
I think Papac has been a bit of an unsung hero for us this season really. He's reverted to left-back rather well, and its the manager's fault that he's still playing there really. We should have brought in a left back over the january window.
Although Smith would give more of an attacking presence and a bit of pace on the left, Papac has kept a cool head at left back...so i dont know if i would send Smith straight into the team...

My favourite goal has to be Trevor Sinclair's spectacular overhead kick in 1997...
I know theres goals out there like Seedorf's, Ibrahimovic's, Roberto Carlos'....but this is just simply immense!

I thought he was outstanding tonight. Was up and down the park all night. Only lost the ball a small number of times and won in the air a hell of a lot.
