  1. Yes, that's exactly what he said. You muppet.

He did say it though! It is a direct quote from him there so no matter how much you want to deny it and pretend he is a fantastic manager he says quite plainly he wants to spend more than the club can afford to to keep him and the coaching staff in a job!

  2. Asked if – supposing it were available – a £10 million transfer kitty would be appropriate in the humble context of SFL2 – McCoist replied: “Probably not, but, if I am going to be totally selfish about it, I would have to spend it to get out of the division and keep me, Ian Durrant, Kenny McDowall and the rest of the staff in a job.

“You can’t have it both ways. You can’t not spend it and then be criticised by everybody. I didn’t spend any money this year, with the exception of David Templeton, and, whether we like it or not, we were criticised heavily for our performances.

A lot of people have been saying over last few weeks Ally only wants whats best for the club but by his own admission here he would rather be selfish and risk the financial security of the club to keep himself and his mates in a job!

  3. There are a few ludicrous points in the document but on the whole there is a lot to admire in it.

The question to be asked is who leaked it to the BBC though? Is it Green/Ahmad saying we should have stuck with them longer and this is what they would have done? Or is it Walters camp releasing it to discredit Green because they think the plan is unworkable? If it is the latter I would be worried that they have completely dismissed the plan!

  4. What is the point in this? If all the 1st division clubs resign, the SPL end up with all the bad points of reconstruction like having to pay out more money and greater chance of relegation but without any of the positives they wanted like our tv rights or sponsors interested from our involvemen in single league body.

  5. How about, rather than waiting for a rich business man to gift 51% of shares, one of the supporters club sets up the scheme and the first 5/6 years the membership fee goes towards acquiring those shares then afterwards the scheme can run properly as described in OP?

  6. Please, for the LAST time, no one on the board from 15th Feb 2007 can EVER come back.

This means Bain, Murray (both of them), King etc.

They would all fail the sfa fit & proper test as they were on the board within 5 years of an insolvency event.

I am sure I read somewhere that is the rule but any director can apply to the SFA for special dispensation if they wanted back on the board.

Given that Bain left before the insolvency then he would have a decent chance of being granted this dispensation. I hope to god he isn't though!

  7. The best first posts.

Your point was about how a league with two dominant teams struggled with their defences through underuse. When it is pointed out that Germany has a similar set-up, you then ignore that point and start talking about youth policy.

I don't snipe for the sake of it, I do it to show you up for the cunt that you are.

Five different teams have won the bundesliga in the last ten years. Bit unfair to call it a two horse race.

  8. If it hadn't been for boardroom uncertainty when Whyte was trying to buy from Murray then he probably wouldn't have got the job to start with.

If it hadn't been for boardroom uncertainty when we went into administration he would probably have been sacked for getting knocked out of Europe twice at first attempt, out of all cup competitions and throwing away a massive lead in the league in his first season.

If it hadn't been for boardroom uncertainty with Green leaving then he may well have been asked to leave at the end of this season but he now seems untouchable as manager.

He has already been incredibly lucky so far as a manager!

  9. The SFL should go about creating the regional leagues from which non league teams could gain promotion.

There should be three: South West, South East and North.

    We should have:

    SFL1 - 10 teams

    SFL2 - 10 teams

    Conference North 1 - 18 teams

    Conference North 2 - 18 teams

    Conference SW 1 - 18 teams

    Conference SW 2 - 18 teams

    Conference SE 1 - 18 teams

    Conference SE 2 - 18 teams

A 10 league SPL can merge with the SFL in the future once they get rid of the ridiculous voting system.

    Would give us 10-10-10-regional

There's no point in teams like Berwick or Peterhead or Montrose being in a national league in a country of our size, they are much more suited to playing in a regional league against similar sized teams with less travelling distances.

To get a setup like that you would need about 70 junior clubs to sign up for the regional conference leagues. I haven't seen anything to suggest that any more than 5 or 6 are prepared to give up junior status however.

  10. With Craig Whyte being majority shareholder? So is this his original plan? Buy for a quid. Get share of creditors pot?

If BDO are successful in the claims for up to £50m then it will mean the courts accept that CW's takeover was fraudulent. Presumably that would mean his shareholding being invalid for any of that money.

One thing you can be sure about is if there is any money available for old shareholders then David Murray will be back in a second trying to claim it!

  11. McCoist is due to hold talks with Gers chief Charles Green to thrash out next term’s plans. He said: “We haven’t discussed budgets for scouting or youth development, transfer budgets, all that kind of stuff.

“I’ve got a plan in process for other sides of the footballing aspect of the club as well.

“So we need to sit down and have a serious conversation about what our plans will be for the future — both long-term and short-term.”

I really think Ally as a manager gets involved in far too much behind the scenes. His performance this season has been rightly criticised by many on here but regardless of how well he has done I don't think he should be having such a strong input into budgets, scouting infrastructure, youth development etc.

I would much rather have some sort of Director of Football overseeing matters like these and relieving the manager of the burden of that to allow him to focus completely on coaching and managing the first team.
