  9. We played Sporting Klub of Vienna at Ibrox in 1933. Reports highlight Tom Vallance being present at the match and the Dinner held in The St.Enoch Hotel later that evening. A life-long association with his Club.

  13. It's a wonderful suggestion. This is only my opinion but i've never been keen on the '' Founding Fathers '' term. It ages them, they were only teenagers when they formed our Club.

  16. The book is in short supply just now folks. There are plans to publish an update but that as with many things this has slowed down with the current situation at the Club. Tours through the summer will mostly run on a sunday, as soon as the split in the League occurs we'll publish a batch of dates.
  17. Join us on a journey of discovery back to 1872 when The Rangers were just the dream of a group of young kids who gathered on Fleshers Haugh. They had no ball, no football kit and used a bush on the green as a changing room. Their Club, which they nurtured, was to become the world's most successful and it all happened on the streets of Glasgow. Our journey takes us to the area of Fleshers Haugh where The Rangers played their first ever match, we also visit Glassford Street, Union Street, Berkeley Street, Burnbank, Kinning Park, Craigton Cemetery and many other places of interest before finishing off our day with a tour of our magnificent Ibrox Stadium. During our journey we have a 30 minute break at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground in Partick which was the scene of the Rangers first ever Scottish Cup Final in 1877. It gives everyone a chance to unwind, grab a beer or soft drink and a bite to eat at a beautiful and historical setting. For further information phone : 0790 2855536 To book your seat just drop me a line to thegallantpioneers@googlemail.com For an insight into our research here's a link to our website. http://www.thegallantpioneers.co.uk/index.html
  18. £30 is approx £3,000 in today's money. We've been here before, and we'll survive again.
  19. How poignant and relevenat is this wee article ? Something's just never change. " That £30 should stand between the club and extinction seems incredible. Yet such was the case in the eighties, as we tell in the following story. Around a table sat a number of men grave of countenance and puckered brows. " It has come to this," said one, "We must have £30 or we cannot carry on. There is not a farthing in the exchequer. Can someone suggest where the £30 is to come from?" And the man at the top of the table answered , ""We cannot let the club go under without a fight, I shall advance the club £30 - and let us hope for better times." Those men were the committee of the Rangers Football Club. The Year was 1883. The first doleful speaker was the treasurer, Mr J.B. Ness, the good angel was the president, Mr George Goudie. neither of them lived to see how momentous was the sequel to that quick transition from despair to hope. " this is taken from; The Rangers v Sportklub Rapid of Vienna programme Nov18th 1964
