  1. There's 10 million at least from the champions league, 2 million from the Ferguson, Adam, Gow departues in the summer, another 3 million a year saved from their wages, 1.5 million from Pedro's sale, another 2 million a year from his and Rothen's wages. Thats 18.5 million at least. Then there's the wages saved from players released and sent out on loan. Surely that knocks the debt down to around the 12 million mark?

Or isn't it as simple as that?

Not quite as simple as that mate. Don't know the complete ins and outs on it but if I remeber correctly Boss, who knows a bit about these things, said that he estimated that the debt would be around £25m

Correct. You need to remember we are paying interest on the loan, so that will take a chunk out of that 18.5 mil, plus other factors such as the Hutton transfer money finishing and how much money we make under the jjb deal (no expert on it, but would imagine meant heres is a big wad of cash to buy the stores, but long term merchandising profits would decrease greatly) ie other sources of income are reduced. Its not as if one year we suddenly ended up 30 mil in debt aswell. We were running at a loss for other seasons before that and reducing wages now probabley only puts us on an even footing in terms of day to day running of the club.

Having said all that. Id imagine the sale of Mendes might lower that 25mil a wee bit.

  2. Walter is good friends with Rednapp im sure, come on CB spill the beans, are we getting someone from Spurs

Cant believe Im geting involved in this guessing game, but spurs have just signed Kaboul. Might be looking to offload a centre back?

Do they not get injured more than Webster does?

Yeah, Ledley "I can only play 1 game a fortnight and cant train" King and Jonathon "the invisible man" Woodgate. They are Brits mind you. We wouldnt be able to afford the wages either.

  3. I'm hearing from a reasonably reliable source that we're after three (3) individuals before this drafty January transfer window closes.

One of the names given to me was a centre half of some repute.

He's plying his trade in England at the moment.

His present manager is a very close friend of Walter.

This could, if it goes ahead, be a very interesting 24-hours or so. :craphead:

    Its definitely not Shittu then!

  4. I only gave him a 7, but thought he looked back to his old self. He seems to have his timing back when he makes tackles. Looking forward to Davis and Thompson as a pairing in midfield. If he has recaptured his form, it would be a massive boost for the second half of the season.

I know exactly what you mean about the critiscism from some fans towards certain players. If fans get annoyed because of errors fair enough, but some just pick a player and moan no matter how well the player is doing. Fortunately, those fans tend to be pretty fickle.

My theory is this. Some fans have a large emotional investment in the team. Rather than have negative thoughts about something they care about when the team is doing bad, they pick a player and make him the scapegoate.

  5. First half we kept playing long balls up to Lafferty who, to be fair, won his fair share of flick ons but Fleck was playing too deep. Fleck was coming short for the ball but the defenders by-passed him by playing it long.

Second half Walter switched Fleck and Novo. Fleck started getting more of the ball and came onto a game. The two strikers (Novo and Lafferty) pushed the Falkirk defence further back meaning our midfield got more space. Once we scored the second goal we stopped playing long balls and really started passing the ball well.

  6. And if we don't bring in a loan signing? Means we have one midfielder who has the ability to create - let's just hope Steven Davis doesn't pick up an injury, or we are in big trouble!

Great point. I wasnt too bothered at first because he has been injured for a while, but if anything happens to Davis we would be stuck with a midfield of two from Edu, Thompson and Mculloch!

  7. Funny everyone has picked Beasley for RM! It just shows you what short memories fans have, cos 3 months ago people were desperate for him to leave. He did have a good December and we dont have anyone else I suppose.

Mind you, if we are forced to have a small squad, a lightweight player who spends have the time injured is somrthing we cant afford.

  8. - Wrong attitude.

    - Wrong position.

    - Wrong formation.

Lafferty would thrive up front with a Fleck-esque player (Fleck perhaps?) playing just off of him.

Agreed. His performances at times have been poor. However:

    1. He does have talent

    2. He can play a role that every club would love to fill (ie can lead the line and bring long balls down on his chest to link up play)

  9. Please let this be bullshit!!! If it is true(?), and he is weighing up other offers, he is an idiot to do it so overtly. Surely he must realise how this would look to the fans. If you were cheated on by your gilfriend youd prefer it if she tried to hide it rather that flaunt it in your face. This could all have been done via his agent.

  10. In fairness, the injury came in extra time as Miller chased down a ball at full speed- nothing could have been done to prevent it. The only reason Mcgeady doesnt get any injuries is cos hes a work shy bastard who wouldnt chase lost causes like our boys.

  11. How can he have swine flu for two months! I dont normally critcise our players, but if he thinks its ok to pick up 15,000 a week from us and not even bother turning up for training, he can F off! Surely we shoud fine him for not turning up and save ourself some dosh.

  12. Exactly, although I do believe Smith has rangers at heart?

Smith has Smith at Heart well before he has Rangers at heart

If that was the case he would have gone the minute he knew the bank were holding the pursestrings.

Why? Quite the opposite exactly...why would he walk away from a weekly wage?

Because being in charge of a club of Rangers size, unable to spend/pressurised to sell and knowing that success is still demanded, would be enough pressure to see most men walk.

To suggest that Smith is here for the money is ridiculous.

Not to mention he could of walked into the Scotland job with a long term contract if all he cared about was money. Seriously, you woulkd think after all Walter has done for Rangers he would deserve a bit of respect.

  13. Theres no chance that is getting overturned. My only hope is that if we appeal it will allow Miller to play in the Old Firm game. However, the Tims would go mental, so dont see it happening.

One things for sure, Mcculloch should snap that cunt Dods in two the next time we play them. The way that prick dived for the sending off had me fooled, I thought Miller had hooked him!

  14. The team shape and tactics seem to suit us at the moment we should try to keep that no matter what personel we have available and slot in like fr like if we can.

Agreed. Last Season Walter would have played Lafferty on the left and Novo on the right against Hibs. Im glad he did not disrupt the team and made it a straight swap Lafferty for DMB.
