I have to say I had Birmingham down for relegation this season. I didn't think they would score enough goals but Lee Bowyer is chipping in with a fair few important goals.
They need to sign a goalscorer in January IMO. Hopefully they can do well.
im a big fan of chucho benitez but he doesnt get that many goals

I agree with the comments about Spain's footballing prowess though... and would love to see an African team (Ivory Coast probably the best bet) lift the trophy.

im backing argentina as well, on paper they've got probably the best squad BUT the fact that maradona is manager really doesnt help their cause lol... they shouldve banned him from the world cup itself - not a shitty useless 2 month ban from FUCK ALL

well put it this way- they've got another 6 matches to play to get to the last 16 of europa league - the money uefa give them for that is £270k, whereas had they qualified for last 16 of CL thats ten times that. It's probably not worth it going for the europa league for a team of their stature but i dont think they'd win it anyway

just pointing out the mark of a good keeper is clean sheets or very low goals against all the wonder saves mean fuck all if you have already let two past you
and the fact that our defence was fucking awful last night doesn't have to contribute anything, does it? its not like they have to defend the goal, is it?

the thing is, some people would think that they're good enough to win europa league but i dont think they will. they didnt deserve to go through - yes those two late goals against lyon cost them dearly but then again they shouldve dealt with them better.
it'll be interesting to see what team they put out against fiorentina at home - he's in a no win situation i feel, if he plays gerrard he might get injure and if he doesnt they'll probs lose or draw at home

the team was simply not good enough... i still think david weir isnt the fastest of central defenders and it does cost it the CL - i think he wouldve prevented both the goal against unirea away and the 1st goal last night.
but its not like we actually deserved anything at all last night - it was the fair result but it's a shame how little we could create against a domestically struggling team
