  1. A number of Celtc players did have to pay tax bills when their film partnership scheme was deemed a tax avoidance vehicle. Most people who enter into these schemes do so in the knowledge that it isn't guaranteed to work. As long as the scheme is registered with HMRC then there are no penalties to pay if the scheme fails, only the tax due. The member of the scheme is no worse off than if they had just paid the tax at the start.

These schemes are entered into by the individual not the company (football club) so it is beyond the football authorities remit. We are all well aware of the media and the way it operates. There is more chance of hell freezing over than the media pursuing Celtc players

  2. These guys will just sue the professionals who advised them to use the scheme and not actually lose any money themselves as insurance co's will pay for it all.

They won't be able to. When you enter into a tax avoidance scheme, there is a section of the terms of business which states that the scheme is based on their interpretation of tax law at that time and that there is risk attached to it. If you don't want to face that risk, then you just pay the tax. The film and music partnership schemes are vastly different to EBT's and the Aikido schemes which replaced them.

  3. Ally McCoist was my idol growing up, however he is a terrible manager. We were unravelling long before admin. The pressures at the club before admin were the sort of pressures that virtually every club in Scotland lives with on a daily basis. Many of the clubs in our country are one bad winter (postponed home games) away from serious financial problems.

He managed to give us a lead in the league but the football was appalling and he very quickly lost that lead. I actually believe that going into administration saved McCoist's job. What I will say however is that McCoist had a very poor start as a player with us and he showed the mental strength to come through that. If anyone can come through this sort of a start as a manager then it's McCoist. I have my doubts but would be delighted if he did.

He needs to bring in a proper assistant manager and someone who can actually coach the team.

  4. So when we're in the second division and struggling financially we should be forking out ridiculous amounts on coaches? Goalkeeping ones especially.

I'd be far more concerned about the money being spent on Durrant and McDowell than Jim Stewart. Those two were apparently on more last year than their counterparts at Manchester Utd. When we are struggling financially, the key should be seeking value for money. There is little doubt that Jim Stewart offers value.

As for FD's of publicly listed companies earning £75k a year, that is just ridiculous nonsense

  5. Have we discovered why the RST wrote and what the object of writing hoped to achieve.

Are you suggesting that the original tweet was regarding a semi final between Dundee Utd and Celtc? The language used in the tweet is accepted as sectarian and derogatory towards Rangers. That may be historically inaccurate, but nonetheless is the reality of the world we live in today. Life would be much easier if everything was black and white like you're portraying. Sadly it isn't.

  6. It all comes down to application, not fitness. Every team in our league raises their game when they play us. They find that extra 10% from somewhere. They can't do it every week but once in a while they can. That extra effort coupled with the reduction in effort from our players is what bridges the gap. The blame has to lie with the manager. It appears to me that the acceptable standards within the club are far too low.

  7. Did I say it 'categorically' or did I mention that it was my opinion?

I have absolute no doubt that it was on the meeting agenda, so I doubt Ally is lying, but it is my opinion that had it been part of the plan, the LSE announcement would not have been required. For example - would we need to make an LSE announcement had we used the available overdraft?

It's not the fact we've had a loan that needs the announcement. It's because it came from a shareholder. Even if it was part of the plan, they would still have to announce it to the market. If we'd got a short notice loan from a bank that wasn't part of the business plan it wouldn't require an announcement

  8. It seems to have been conveniently forgotten that at this time of year it is very common for football clubs to have cashflow issues. All of the income is in and been spent. In the past David Murray used Ticketus for this purpose. It was at this time of year that Craig Whyte put us into administration because we had run out of money. It's not great that we have to do this but it's not unexpected and hopefully going forward it is something the board can stop from happening, with a proper business model

  9. Lisburnranger @ 420. I have said what I think he is - a chancer. Who is working him - I am not sure but I have my suspicions.

Will you tell us who you suspect? I'll be completely open with you. I know Richard personally and I know there is no agenda here. He's not short of a few quid so there is no financial motivation for him. His motivation behind this is a personal thing and it's not my place to share it on a message board. We as a support, (not aiming this at you personally) need to stop looking at everyone as the bogeyman who is out to harm us. Doing that is dancing to the haters tune

Obviously my opinion is based on my personal experience of knowing the man. I have no idea if you know him or not. It is my belief that his intentions are honorable

  10. lang2911 @ 411. Comments like this are going to help. hopefully, to out rea for what he really is as he appears to deflect, deflect. I wonder who he learned that from? As I have said previously and am willing to say agaiin, I admire the work you have done but wish you had continued to work with the club instead of being derailed by this chancer.

Why don't you tell us what he really is? Instead of innuendo, just come out and say it

  11. Statistically, the teams who use this tactic (and there are many around Europe who do) concede fewer goals from set pieces. The players line up along the six yard line because that is the danger area. Crowding that area reduces the chances of a free header for the opposition. Like a man marking system, it requires all players to concentrate and not switch off.

From an attacking point of view, the idea is that the players move forward as a unit. Clearances from the penalty area tend to be picked up by the defenders even when you leave players up. Your biggest and strongest players are in the box defending the set piece, and the players you leave up are usually smaller and therefore not as effective at holding the ball up. Most goals that are scored on the counter attack from set pieces start with a clearance being picked up within 30 yards of your own goal and involve attacking at pace with numbers, not one or two players holding the ball up and waiting for support

  12. Anyone got the clip from the OF game where he pings the pass (30 yards at least in my memory) to Coop who brings it down with one touch. Waits for the defender before going past him then crosses in for the goal. Was it Durrant? Fuck me I'm getting old.

If it's the goal I'm thinking about he sprayed a 30 yard pass to Cooper who didn't have to move an inch to receive it. Cooper crossed it in and Bonner dropped it at the feet of McCoist I believe

  13. Nicky Law urges Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace to cut costs elsewhere and keep first-team squad intact

THE Ibrox midfielder admits he fears top players will be sold to help balance the books but hopes Ally McCoist is allowed to keep building for the future.

NICKY LAW has urged Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace to cut costs elsewhere and keep the top-team squad intact.

The Ibrox midfielder acknowledges that with financial streamlining going on at the club the final days of this month’s transfer window are a worrying time for the management team and players.

Wallace is in the midst of a 120-day review designed to cut costs and develop a financial model to ensure a self-sustaining business.

Big decisions have to be made, such as the one that saw finance director Brian Stockbridge leave the club at the weekend, but Law hopes a cash shortfall does not result in a player cull.

With just five days left in the transfer window Rangers are vulnerable to any offers coming in for one of their stars with Scotland full-back Lee Wallace the player who could raise the largest sum.

But Law believes it would send a bold message to the dressing room if Wallace and the money men on the board find other ways to make their cuts and refuse to sell in order to keep Ally McCoist’s squad on track for their Championship bid next season.

The 25-year-old English ace, who joined Rangers from Motherwell last summer, said: “We’re just one of a number of clubs who will be looking forward to the end of the window because we have good players who people will probably be looking at and looking to take.

“The manager has said we’re trying to build here rather than lose his best players. Hopefully that will be the case.

"We want to keep everyone to help us build towards getting back where we belong.

“It would be a positive sign that we’re looking to keep progressing and get back to the top and hopefully that will be what happens.”

Am I missing a quote from Law? Where does he mention Graham Wallace, or cut for that matter? His quotes are standard clichéd words that don't actually tell us anything. The same as what we here from 90% of footballers who have had a bit of media training. Spun by areshole media trying to sell papers

  14. I understand you don't want to get into a discussion about PM as he is of course the person supported by your organisation, as to the links you have posted Brian Stockbridge's is a given provable and uncontested, can you say if you and your organisation are 100% certain and are happy to qualify the link to PM .as being accurate in its content, I take it you did research the content before linking it.

Can you say whither you and your organisation know if Paul has any accountancy qualifications, over and above a BA in mathematics.

Can you say if Paul's BA in Mathematics is a bureaucratic or curriculum related degree, as your chosen candidate/frontman I am sure you will have satisfied yourselves of all bona fides and will no doubt confirm so.

You are of course also aware that Brian Stockbridge fine CV apart is a fully qualified CA. (tu)

I'm sure you're aware that Paul Murray is also a Chartered Accountant.

They both appear to be highly qualified and experienced individuals, although with very different career backgrounds. You asked somebody to provide you with information about PM. It's over to you now.
