  1. How much we talking here?

Lots of figures being banded about but I reckon it's around £3.5m down with a further £2.5m add on's. These figures may not be accurate but I don't think they'll be too far off the mark. Anyone thinking we'll get £8m is dreaming I'm afraid.

    Boyd now 8/11.

  2. Phil Neville getting in on the act:

Just seen we've bid for jelevic - what's he like rangers fans???

Good feedback on him fingers crossed will be watching sky sports news the next 2 days!!!

Jelavic has now moved to 4/6 with SkyBet to join Everton with Boyd now 10/11 to sign for us.

For all the Everton fans looking in I can tell you that if you get him you'll be getting a very good player that with the right service and striking partner could go on to become a huge star on Merseyside. Hope he does well for you.

  3. I'd give McMillan and Fleck a chance definitely and Hutton. Perry i'm not sure about, but the point i was making was why not give these guys 15-20 odd games and see if they really can do it? he's done that with Wylde.

Because you don't get a lot of chances at Ibrox and have to make an immediate impression. Wylde's had more than enough chances imo.

I was reading Ian Holloway today and he believes John Fleck will become a big star under him because he can go out and express himself without fear of making a mistake.

We don't have that luxury and we're expected to win EVERY game - that's a big pressure.

For what it's worth I don't believe Fleck will do any better down there than he did with us. He's just another boy that never lived up to the hype.

  4. rangers class is an interesting concept. since he broke into the team less than a year ago he's barely lost a game and has a dozen assists to his name.

id encourage you to give the wee man a chance.

hasn't lost an of game either.

    I have.

I actually thought he'd make his mark this season but if anything he has regressed. I don't see a future for him at Ibrox.

Hope I'm wrong as I love nothing more than seeing our own kids making the breakthrough.

  5. what baffles me about the Wylde situation though is that McCoist continues to persevere with him, but gives none of the other youngsters the same number of chances.

Like who, Perry and McMillan? They won't make it either. Neither of them are good enough.

The only truly outstanding youngster we have at the moment is Ness but unfortunately he'd get injured on Question of Sport.

  6. Hopefully we can get £8m or there abouts, bring back Boyd and try for a young pacey striker. I suggested Sammy Armenteros in the Suggestions thread but he'd most likely cost upwards of £2m.

We won't get anywhere near £8m imo.

  7. “@Donaldson007: If Everton, or any other club, is successful in signing Nikica Jelavic I'm told Rangers will use some of the cash to bid for David Templeton”

    ESPN reporter !!

Can't see us bidding for Templeton now that we have Aluko and Celik.

  8. From FF.....

just saw this on twitter, sorry if already posted - not sure who the agent is who tweets but he seems bang on with most stuff

    AgentScotland

Everton have had a £6m bid for Nikica Jelavic accepted, £3.5m up front with the rest in installments (could rise to £7.5m on future success)

  9. One of my mates does volunteer work for Rangers on match days in the family section and he said that Whyte was there giving them a hand!

Seems like a genuine guy, at least whenever ive met him or people i know have!

Yes, he did seem to be on some sort of charm offensive yesterday. As for being a "genuine guy?"

Having spoken to people that have had business dealings with him the general consensus was "He's not to be trusted"

This was one of the more favourable comments I may add. The word "Dog" was also used on more than one occasion.

The 4-0 victory yesterday certainly helped lift the gloom surrounding the club but with only days remaining in the window it's absolutely imperative we bring in at least one new Striker to help Jelavic should we manage to hold on to him. (I'm not convinced we will)

If I can just remind you of what Whyte said:

"I'm prepared to take our spending way above what was originally budgeted. The manager has to be sure he is getting the right people but the money is there for him to do that."

    " Way above? ".....

" The money is there "..... Where is the money Mr Whyte?

And before anyone starts about living within our means I fully understand the need for us to do that. But we're not asking him to go out and spend millions here. We desperately need a boost after losing out to Celtic on yet another target yesterday. Salihi's available for £500K or less and his signing would give a massive lift to the whole club - especially the supporters.

    Get him in now!

  10. Craig Whyte has been brave enough to put his faith in the club we love

100% backing to him is not too much to ask for in return !

You may be right. But I think if Jelavic is sold and we don't bring anyone in that faith will turn to anger.

Anyone that believes what we have there at the moment is strong enough to go on and win the league is deluded.

Hopefully he still has an ace or two up his sleeve before the window closes.

  11. This seems to suggest it:

    vvv_vitesse_michael_uchebo.jpg

    Dodgy transaltion:

After an earlier failed attempt to enforce a contract with Premier League club Stoke City is VVV-attacker Michael Uchebo try it now at the Scottish powerhouse Glasgow Rangers.

The Nigerian attacker is Wednesday evening and flown to Scotland Gets the coming period the chance to prove to be an added value for The Gers.

    Anyone know much about him?

  12. Evening Times take on it all:

"RANGERS owner Craig Whyte is holding out for at least £9million for star man Nikica Jelavic.

Whyte last night rejected a £7m package from West Ham United for Scotland’s top scorer.

However, the Gers supremo has been warned that he will be very lucky to get his asking price for the Croatian – by former QPR boss Neil Warnock.

Warnock was keeping tabs on the 26-year-old when he was in charge at the London club before he was sacked and replaced by Mark Hughes.

He said: "I know what Rangers value him at, but whether they get anywhere near that is another matter. I would be surprised if anybody paid that much for Jelavic. We watched him at QPR and were not very impressed."

West Ham offered striker Frederic Piquionne to help sweeten the deal, but the 33-year-old did not interest Rangers.

The offer was not a straightforward £7m up front, although the total deal, including clauses, would have added up to that amount.

It is believed Rangers not only want more money, but also a bid that would involve nearly all of the transfer fee being paid up front.

That would not be a problem for cash-rich Russian club CSKA Moscow, who have entered the race to sign Jelavic after selling Brazilian star Vagner Love back to Flamengo for £9m.

It is believed CSKA Jelavic as the ideal replacement for the South American and could be ready to make a bid for the player within the next 48 hours.

Rangers boss Ally McCoist has put contingency plans in place in case business is done just before the transfer window closes.

He is prepared for the possibility he could lose his main hitman in the final hours of the month.

Rapid Vienna’s Albanian striker Hamdi Salihi – available for a knockdown £500,000 – is high on the list, and there is also an interest in Neuchatel Xamax’s Nigerian, Kalu Uche.

McCoist is desperate to add more players. So far he has shipped out John Fleck on loan to Blackpool and watched Davie Weir end his time at the club to free-up wages.

Swedish winger Mervan Celik has been added and looks certain to make his debut against Hibs on Saturday, but others need to go and McCoist will hope Spanish side Almeria follow up an enquiry to take former player Juan Ortiz back on loan."
