  1. It's also Rangers, if we did play youngsters and they didn't perform to our expected standards we would be on their backs quicker than anything and giving them abuse and saying they're not good enough to pull on the jersey. Folks can't get it both ways. Would be even worse if they were given the chance and we didn't get promoted. The whole idea (I think) is purely for the experience because the team are expected to get to the top flight as quickly as possible and it is an added pressure for any Rangers player, at least Miller knows what it's like to play for us.

    This is spot on

  2. You're missing the point. It was you who said he's clueless and his signings were terrible. When pushed you said some of his signings were ok. When given the opportunity to name alternative signings, you declined but predicted that things will be terrible next season.

I completely understand that some supporters decry the way we played the game in League 2 and 1, personally, I put a lot of that down to the way the opposition set themselves up. Imo it is much easier to play a defensive game than a creative game. If your aim is simply not to lose, rather than win, then the onus is on the other team to try and break you down. I do accept, however, that we, with the the standard of players available to us, should have played with more flair. I am hopeful that next season, against better teams, with supporters and Boards who are less likely to condone a 'parking the bus' strategy even at home, that we will see more attractive football. I am also confident that we will win the Championship at a canter.

I just think that blaming McCoist for everything is too easy for some. Has he made mistakes in his signings? Yes, Is he the only Manager/Rangers Manager to do so? No Does his team play attractive samba style football? No, When did we ever?

Finally, I return to my original point, this thread is about a 'rumoured' signing of Kenny Miller - on the basis of rumour there are 'supporters' calling for the Manager's head - it's just a wee bit pathetic really

Yes some of Mccoist signings have been terrible as i said, im not a football manager myself to name better and all the rest of it no but the resources he has at rangers hes missed a great opportunity to rebuild us and he hasn't.

Maybe you have a point, but remember we have the second bigggest wage bill in scotland surely thats enough to well beat part timers even if they park the buss, the football under mccoist has been dreadfull some sort of decent football we would wipe the floor with them teams just go back to the game at airdrie thought we played some good stuff and they couldn't get near us, how many times did that happen last season? The long ball to Daly every week was just painful, I think we will win the championship next season yes but he will have to improve the squad and the way we play

And i agree every manager makes mistakes but he has some awful results in the cup and all, its just an opinion i dont think Mccoist has it at Rangers to be a successful manager

  3. So McCoist's clueless, but someone else doing something different (we dont know what), would still have won the league, with good players (from we dont know where), on smaller wages (we dont know how much).

    Aye, clueless is about right

McCoist has made a side with the second biggest wage bill in scotland, but still can't win the ramsdens cup and he's cup record is a joke

  4. Oh FFS, at least be consistent, in your first post you say he's (sic) signings have been dreadful. Now Law and Templeton are two of the handful that have been his better ones.

As I said, I'm giving you the benefit of hindsight here, don't just tell us who you wouldn't have signed, tell us who you would have signed instead - same money, same contract arrangements. Shouldn't be that difficult surely?

Most of mccoists signings have been dreadful cribari, sandaza, Kevin Kyle, argyriou just a hand full from last season then the year before some awful signings

Of course he has got a few decent ones not saying that, I don't know who I would have signed not saying I could do done a better job I'm saying that a manager who knows what he's doing and knows what he wants with some kind of decent philosophy would of found good players and would have still pissed a part time league with a much smaller wage bill and not average players on big wages that's my point, McCoist is clueless how fans still defend him baffles me

  5. Take your point, and not having an official scouting network certainly hampers ally to a degree.

But are we to believe that ally and back room are not taking games in themselves? Are we to believe ally is not leveraging off his contacts? Are we to believe we don't have agents peddling players to ally every other week?

    Of course they are.

Ally is simply afraid to take a chance. A chance on someone who perhaps is younger or not experienced with a big club.

But ally needs to realise he needs to take a few chances because we cannot afford to have a revolving door for pensioners.

McCoist is clueless we all know that, he's signings have been dreadful just go back to before we went into admin ortiz and co absolute garbage, he can't see a decent player if he tried

Miller is getting on and we would all love someone younger come in do and job and for the spl aswell but with McCoist in charge not happening hel play it safe with as you say big wages for old players

I actually think a decent manager would have found good players even on frees a couple of years ago we had an excellent chance to rebuild properly with young talent and a much better looking wage bill he's a rangers legend as a player never a manager

  6. I get the logic, miller is a good signing...for 1 season... What happens when we get to spl? We are just going to have start recruiting again.

Short term measures are what we used to do and played a part in getting us in the position we are .

Time to look to the future

I don't disagree mate, once we're back at the top we are going to want better and younger, without some sort of scouting system and no real money don't see how that's gonna happen
