  1. Sorry, this is slightly off topic. I tried to join FF today to see what the posters there were saying about today's events regarding Jelavic. They wouldn't let me join because I have a gmail email address which is banned apparently (even though it's a new address and I've never tried to join before. Also, they were wanting my home address and mobile number. WTF? To join a messageboard? Am I alone in thinking that's a bit much?

  2. My interpretation is 'cancelled the deal'. What you say is definitely possible, but I reckon he would have actually said that were it true - 'the ball is in Jelavic's court' or something along those lines.

I'm not sure about those reports to be honest. I think alot of it is journalists making educated guesses as to why the deal has drawn on for so long. Regarding the agreed fee and contract, they had to write something in their daily updates on Monday and Tuesday. Expecting a deal to be concluded later in the week, they took a punt.

    Maybe.

There's so much conjecture that it's difficult to have an opinion without someone pointing out that we have no facts on which to base our opinions. That's always going to be the case when you support one of the Old Firm as the press make so much money from us, they need to constantly attempt to sell papers with sensationalised headlines, when in truth they often know fuck all like the rest of us.

  3. I think 'withdrawn from negotiations' sounds a little bit more final than what you suggest.

Also, how do you know that both the fee and contract have been agreed?

How so? What is your interpretation of the statement? Simply, Rangers have stopped negotiating, cos there's nothing left to negotiate. The stumbling block appears to be with Rapid and Jelavic.

If the statement had said that Rangers had "withdrawn their offer", then I'd agree that would seem pretty final, but that's not the case.

Regarding the fee and contract, I obviously don't know for certain that they've been agreed. I'm only going from the consensus of reports that suggest that the problem is with what Jelavic feels he is owed by his current Club.

  4. Why?

People seem to be getting their knickers in a twist about this. All this says is that Rangers have stopped talks. The reason for this will be that Rangers are not in a position to influence the problems that are stalling the transfer. Once whatever is stalling(likely to be the compensation Jelavic feels he is owed) is resolved, then Rapid (who have agreed to Rangers' price) and Jelavic (who has agreed to Rangers'contract offer) will be in touch to conclude the deal, should they still wish to proceed. Rangers have done everything they can.

  5. Check sky sports text/website. I'm on my phone and can't post the link, its not lookni good.

It's not really saying anything new:

Rapid Vienna striker Nikica Jelavic remains hopeful of joining Rangers after revealing he wants to eventually play in the English Premier League.

Rangers have seen a £3.5million offer for Jelavic rejected and Rapid are currently reluctant to sell the Croatia international.

Talks are reportedly ongoing regarding a potential deal and Jelavic is keen to step up a level by leaving Rapid to move to Ibrox.

"The Scottish league is stronger than the Austrian league and Rangers are a great club," said Jelavic in the Daily Record.

"But I've always been honest and I've never hidden my desire to one day play in the English Premier League because it is the best in the world.

"At this moment I remain a Rapid Vienna player and a professional.

"I want to do the very best I can for this club until someone tells me otherwise. That's all I can say at this time."

    Unsure

However, the Austrian club's sporting director Alfred Hoertnagl remains uncertain about whether Rapid will agree a deal to sell Jelavic to Rangers.

Hoertnagl said: "There are still too many points that are open, even from the player's side.

"I don't want to make any comment about sums or fees.

"I'm not sure if a deal can go through at all. As long as the transfer window is open these issues and themes will always be on the table."

  6. Whats the latest, have we even agreed a fee yet?

Not according to the latest article which quoted the Rapid director, but it's all speculation at the moment.

So were basically at the same stage we were at 2 weeks ago? :disappointment:

    No.

Bain and Dickson are in Austria doing a deal.

For all we know hes signed tbh.

If he'd signed this would have been reported, Us signing a player for cash is massive news.

Bain will be over testing the waters, still trying to negotiated a deal. Hopefully this doesn't turn into another farce like the Andrea Caracciolo saga :anguish:

There's been no confirmation that Bain has even travelled to Austria. The story came from an airport 'insider' on FF!

STV News carry a story lifted from the Kurier (an Austrian Newspaper) saying that Bain is in Austria today. Hopefully this is true, Jelavic (based on what I've seen of him) looks to be just what we're after.

Hi by the way to all fellow Gers!
