  1. First new board member named as Phil Bets, anyone heard of him?

    Phil Betts - Regional Director

Phil has extensive experience in our industry working for major banks and finance houses. He established his own Lease Brokerage in 1995.

He worked for Midland Bank (HSBC), Fraser Russell (now Baker Tilly) Accountants, Royscot Trust and British Credit Trust, where he headed up the broker division.

He Left in 1995 to form PB Corporate Finance Limited a company he ran for seven years before selling to Its Your Group plc in 2002.

Copied this from the merchant houce finance website.

It seems like everyone Whyte's involved with seems to be some sort of venture capitalist...

  2. It's not my own, but I was very close to getting out of it. I'll disrupt it with cheers when we score :uk:

Mate, I remember an Old Firm game i was at, I had got relocated from the Broom, and there was a fucking empty seat in front of me.

I asked the guy beside it why it was, and turns out his wife was the other season ticket holder, and she had passed away.

So, trying no tae be too harsh oan him, I asked if he couldn't have gave the ticket to someone else fir such a big game?

Turns out that they were all at the funeral!! :uk: :uk:

  3. As much as i doubt he would come back to us, I wouldn't be surprised to see Milan suddenly let all of their "Golden Oldies" go, and start focusing on playing younger players.

The majority of the Milan midfield is a few years away from state pensions at the momment.

  4. George Boyd and Mackail-Smith are two very decent players from Peterborough.

Aaron Martin is a good, young centre back, and Adam Lallana is fucking amazing! Both from Southampton.

If we can't afford these players from the English league 1... Takeover or not, Something is seriously wrong.

  5. Edu's been one of our best performers so far.

Never thought I'd say that lol.

I agree, that time when he just rammed the mother player (think it was Sutton) out of the way with a shoulder tackle, I was like... woah, Mo's got a mean streak

The midfield needs to start sitting deeper though, Right they are getting missed out - as someone else said - which is hurting our possession. Either have two deep-sitting midfielders to spray out passes to the wings to make our attacks, or place either Edu or Davis in front of the back four, and give him a choice of 3 attacking outlets, plus the full backs.

  6. One positive thing we can take from this is that we know that if a takeover DOES happen, McCoist seems to be prepared to look at a few 'star quality players', and Weiss seems to be included in his plans.

Also, whats with saying we are in a big mess, and then - with regards to McGregor - saying that things are going well?

  7. Jelavic and Naismith to run riot in my opinion.

Motherwell tend to force other teams to play very narrow however, and if they do this we will have to play predominantly through the middle... So I'm hoping Edu doesn't start. Murphy's pace might cause a few problems, but Bougherra and Weir should have him sorted.

Other than that we should have quite a comfortable win on our hands.

  8. 1. Goodwillie - wage costs for iaquinta will be too high, and we've no idea if he actually is injury prone or not as of yet.

    2. Eremenko - although I would prefer Ness, Davis, or even McCulloch above this guy. As has already been said, as soon as things don't go this way, he wanders about aimlessly for the rest of the match.

    3. Bartley - Good sell-on value, he doesn't shy away from a fight (take when mj*llby attempted to start something going down the tunnel).

    4. Weiss - As much as I love Bartley, young wingers always seem to be inconsistent in their earlier years, and then suddenly mature as players, and put in amazing performances week after week (Nani is a prime example), Just amazing what the wee man will be like when he finds his consistency!

  9. To be honest, if most of our "reserves" were at another SPL club, they would probably be the most mentioned in this thread...

Players like Jordan McMillan, Andrew Shinnie, and I don't know exactly how good he is, but I used to hear nothing but good things about Stephen Stirling... that was until I saw he'd only made 6 appearances for Stirling on loan.

  10. Shaun Hutchinson, Eggert Jónsson and Ismaël Bouzid In my opinion are the only SPL centrebacks we should even be batting an eyelid at.

We have enough CM's in the squad, should Ness and Hutton get a game next season, but I wouldn't mind Ryan Stevenston to put a bit of steel into our midfield... so that leaves wingers, full backs, and strikers.

Lee Wallace is a good young fullback, and Grahame shinnie from ICT looks like he'll end up a player, provided he doesn't follow his older brothers approach to breaking into the first team.

Good wingers are obviously David Templeton (though he needs to be more consistent), Conway, and not many will agree, but I still believe Andy Driver could be a world beater if he was to move to a bigger club (US!!!!).

Strikers will be Goodwillie, possibly Johnny Russell, and a good young striker with plenty of potential is Stevie May.

    Just my two cents :sherlock:

  11. Our scouts should always be watching the under 16-21 World and European Championships because I see many players at that age who are better than most of our current players.

    Agreed!

Take the Nigerian under-17 and under-21 squads for instance, Nigeria has won the under-17 world cup three times, sharing the record with Brazil for most times won, but most of their players fade back into obscurity because they don't get snapped up by a decent club.

Fair dooze, a lot of it is down to work permits, but isn't there a way around that for players with 'exceptional talent'?
