  1. RANGERS could be boosted by the return of Madjid Bougherra tomorrow as they bid to go top of the SPL.

The Algerian defender has not played since limping off in the sensational League Cup Final triumph over Celtic.

However, he trained today and seems to be over the worst of his hamstring injury and if he has no reaction he could return to the side against St Mirren.

If Bougherra does not make it tomorrow then he will be in line to face Dundee United at Tannadice on Tuesday.

Boss Walter Smith said today: "We will maybe have Madjid back tomorrow. He trained this morning and he seems to be OK but whether we will use him or not tomorrow we will wait and see.

"If he is not involved tomorrow then he will be OK for Tuesday's game at Tannadice."

It wouldl be a timely boost for the Light Blues who have a chance to take control in the title race as they play twice before Celtic are next involved in SPL action next Wednesday.

They have Stevie Naismith suspended tomorrow after he went over the penalty points threshhold for too many bookings.

So that could mean a starting slot for El-Hadji Diouf who has been on the bench lately.

Richard Foster is available again after being unable to face Aberdeen on Wednesday night due to the terms of his loan agreement
