  1. Hmmmm. Where did I see this extra 3000 fans figure before ?

Oh, I know, it was on the taigs tax site as justification for the SPL ditching Rangers.

It bears no resemblance to anything that might happen but heyho, if it keeps them from killing themselves, let them believe it.

    :shifty:

Just used 3,000 for the purposes of the calculation, simply an assumption/estimate.

Wouldn't know if that was on the tax case website, never read it. Will just have to take your expert opinion on that :pipe:

  2. I've never really had a problem with TBK's bid. Barely seen one argument against them that is of actual substance.

Right enough, not many solid reasons why they are our saviors either. Except from the fact that they are a bunch of rich, well known businessman who are all likely to be Rangers fans.

The ticketus thing doesn't bother me too much either, in fact even seems sensible from the point of view that they will want to club to succeed so they can get their money back.

At the end of the day, if Craig Whyte goes and these guys step in, that's a huge positive from my perspective.

  3. it isnt just the TV money though

club sponsorships would be miles down as the lack of Sky's exposure would mean less people seeing the adverts

Then you have the lost revenue from the OF fans, even if Home attendances boost, the away ones arent guaranteed, especially if the likes of caley thistle come to town from way up there

then you have more wages for the players because they are now in a title fight, more bonuses etc

All valid arguments, I still think they could just about do it though.

If we keep pushing, challenge European courts perhaps, we may get our way. It would certainly help our cause if the other teams were in favour of it, or even blocking us from re-entering the league. Then again that would open a whole new can of worms

  4. You cant be Scottish or be going to games given this post.

Anyone would know the Scottish League need Rangers and the Filth to survive the other clubs have no support.

They might need us at the moment, but say for example one particular year this atlantic league's beginning and the other teams get notice of us leaving.

The teams could restructure over summer, get a shite TV deal, and in general financially plan for the shortfall. If more fans turned up than usual, fantastic. If not, they would have a slightly shitter team in exchange for a chance at winning their own league, is that a sacrifice most teams would be willing to make, you never know.

  5. Add to that this:

I just get the feeling that most Scottish fans don't give a shit about the old firm anymore, and there is evidence (see above) that they could handle it without us. If we do get into real shit and the other clubs don't let us back in, we may be able to force our way into another league. The only way Celtic could probably handle that was if they agreed to come with us.

If the fans forced the clubs owners to say "Fuck the Old Firm" and they decide to go it alone, in theory everyone could win. They would get a more competitive league and us and Celtic could go off to pastures new and earn some real cash :pipe:

  6. Now apparently this has already been on VB but I haven't seen it so I thought I'd post it here. Also posted it in the Aberdeen thread but thought it could do with it's own thread:

The SPL's TV deal is £80 million over 5 seasons = 16 million a season. If you divide that among 12 clubs equally it equals £1.33 million per club per season. Say for example the Old firm left the SPL and they lost the TV deal, you would think that be awful for them right?

Maybe not. If a team's average attendance went up 3,000 (think that's reasonable) because they would actually have a chance of winning the league, would this lost TV money be made up through the extra fans in the door?

If it did, their gate receipts did increase by 3,000 => (3,000 * £15 ticket price * 38games) = an extra £1.7 million per season. If you add in other match day profits i.e. food, programmes etc and minus expenses that would probably make up about the same as the TV money.

So do they need us or do we just think they do?

  7. Shamelessly stolen from VB;

I'm not so convinced 'The Red Army' would show up in their numbers. Infact if the only game in which they do turn up in a herd - pardon the pun - didn't exist, I think their income would only drop. It's not as if they would go to the game because it's not on the telly... most of their games aren't on TV anyway other than against us or the bheasts, and maybe the odd one against Hearts or Motherwell.

I'm not so sure they would get a TV deal, but if they did it would be for buttons like you say.

They're a shit club with shit fans. Has-beens who still think their opinion is valid. They need us but ironically hate us too much to realise it. Absolute fannies to a man.

I've never even been on VB mate, but it's not hard me for to imagine that someone else has thought this, it's a valid argument IMO.

They would get a more competive league and us and Celtic could go off to pastures new and earn some real cash :pipe:

  8. Perhaps the National Farmers Union will assist with a TV deal?

I'm sure ESPN would take them and would pay them like 500k each or some pish. The other teams would probably gain more viewers as well if their teams were fighting for the league. The point is I don't think other fans in Scotland would give two fucks if they lost the old firm.

Better for us too if something like the Atlantic league were to take shape.

  9. There wouldn't be a TV deal if it wasn't for us. Who would actually want to watch that dross? I know if it wasn't for Rangers I wouldn't pay a blind bit of notice to the SPL.

The money they lost through not having a TV deal would be made up for by extra attendance. Plus they would get a TV deal anyway, a shite one yes, but I'm sure they could get a few shekels from someone.

  10. SPL's TV deal - £80 million over 5 seasons = 16 million a season. Divide that among 12 clubs equally = £1.33 million/club/season

Say the Old firm left the SPL and they lost the TV deal, awful right?

Well say a team's average attendance went up 3,000 (think that's reasonable) because they would actually have a chance of winning the league.

Their gate receipts might increase by 3,000 => (3,000 * £15 ticket price * 38games) = £1.7 million per season. Add in other profits i.e. food, programmes etc - expenses and that might make about the same as the TV money.

Do they need us? This is assuming that us and Celtic left the league (or we went bust). Sorry if this causes trouble but was just having a think :pipe:

  11. They will have to curb the shopping and extra expenses they are used to but in terms of living a life to a good standard they will be more than fine...someone on a warehouse wage would be lucky to make ends meet.

Not direspecting the level of sacrafice these boys have made because it's bloody heroic in this day and age but they will be OK.

Yeah don't get me wrong I'm not trying to undermine their efforts either but the reason they did it is because they are lucky enough to be in a position to do so. Most people simply could not.

  12. No, not if your immediate outgoings are more or near that figure. Certainly not if that reduction happened without warning.

Even HM Treasury accepts the concept of relative hardship.

Ok, so you might need to make some short term sacrifices, but in the long run you'll be fine, you're income is still great. Some people's entire lives would be ruined if their wages got cut by 75%. How can you make the comparison?

God, if the player's lives were going to be so bad, do you think they would have accepted it in the first place?

  13. Yes. I've seen it with my own eyes. And without the 75% you aren't fucking rich anymore are you.

Ok, so if you're on 20k a week, and you get your wages cut by 75%, and are still earning over 200k a year (before tax of course), you are not rich?

  14. What about mortgages, standing orders? How are they re-organised without significant implications?

Let them seize the house, live in a swanky hotel, whatever, you're still rich ffs.

So the basis of your argument is that cutting 75% of the income of a rich person has the same impact as cutting 75% of the income of a poor person. Jesus man!

  15. It is though mate if you had an expectation for £80,000 a month and set up your life accordingly. Those players have worked their way to the top and have been accordingly offered a luctarive contract. Them, some administrators come along and, regardless of what financial committments those players have made, ask them to take a cut of £60,000.

If someone offered me £80,000 a month tomorrow my lifestyle and standing orders would change dramatically. Suddenly, my pay gets cut by 75% and I'm fucked.

I agree totally that £80,000 a month is ludicrous but it is all relative and you fit your life to your income. Losing it is painful however much you earn, especially if that cut puts you in the red.

    Equally

Footballers would just need to reorganise their life if they had they're wages cut, some people wouldn't be able to afford food, housing, clothing etc.

  16. Aye, hes doing a grand job. Hopefully he can take us into the group stages and get a domestic clean sweep, the standard in Scotland this year is pathetic. Oh wait........

Aye suppose, we'd be better with Lennon probably don't you think?

  17. The problem is when did he ever look "promising".

I think he was compared to Rooney, simply because he looks like him visually.

We'll have to wait and see if he comes good or not, but he can't be any worse than the midfielders at other SPL clubs.

The first time I saw him, he was playing on the wing, beating men and getting crosses in. I thought great, when he gets played behind the strikers he'll be able to manoeuvre past defenders, have a dig from range or play in the strikers. How wrong could I be

  18. Why not? What does he have to offer? More cup failures? More European exits? More league capitulations? More players signed that we dont need? Very enticing to any prospective buyer i say.

Super Ally, Super Ally oh way oh way oh way!
