  1. Just rattled off an email to FARE, the SPL, the SFA and Kick It Out about the mhanks anti-protestant and illegal IRA singing last night.

Wonder who I'll hear back from?

    To whom it may concern,

I, on behalf of a larger group of Scottish football fans, would like to make a complaint about songs sung last night at a football match that were of both a sectarian and illegal nature.

I am referring to the Scottish Premier League match between Kilmarnock FC and Celtic FC. Not only could Celtic FC fans be heard singing anti-protestant songs (with lyrics such as, 'soon, there'll be no protestants at all') but songs glorifying the IRA ('Ooh ah, up the 'Ra') - which is illegal in the UK under current anti-terrorism legislation.

Songs of this nature were clearly audible over the television broadcast which I viewed the match, and I anticipate your response most eagerly.

    Yours sincerely,

    XXXXXXXX XXXX

ps - it may be of interest that I have alerted other media outlets about not only this incident last night, but that you have been alerted to it as well. Given your work condemning such incidents in the past, I have no doubt your organisation will do everything to bring this to light.

Already got an acknowledgement email from the SFA saying they'll pass it on to the relevant authorities.

edit: also, I CC'd Celtic's press office in the one I sent to the SPL.

  2. Rattled this off to Kick it Out/FARE just now.

Not expecting a reply tbh, I never got one before.

  3. Brilliant result tonight, not before time and exactly what we needed from tonight and more.

Two reasons why we still need to keep our feet on the ground though.

    1) Yes, we won 4-0 at Tannadice, but we were 2-0 up against nine men which made things a lot easier than they otherwise would have been and no referee in the world will send off two or three timmy players and not send off any of us and give us three penalties.

    2) Before the two most recent Old Firm games in the league, we horsed teams after not playing well and got our arses kicked by the mhanks.

Brilliant tonight and bring on Sunday, but overconfidence will be as big a danger as any to us this weekend.

    No Surrender.

  4. Utter shite.

With the 11-1 voting system, there's no way either us or the tinkers would vote to remove ourself from the league.

Probably so desperate for listeners, he's making shit up.

Still, better than shitting over Ulrika's make-up.

  5. i dont care at all what anyone says in this thread about the takeover happening or not happening, like to read opinion , but all these knobs with sources i couldnt give a shit, ill stick to sky sports news thanks very much

SSN 'sources' said it was 'done' 13 days ago.

SSN are as clued in as we are on here, and even less so than some on here.

  6. The Scottish Premier League will explore the creation of a British League Cup if plans for a major shake-up of the game are ratified.

BBC Scotland has gained access to the SPL's 100-page strategic plan, which includes plans for a 10-team SPL.

It shows a desire to merge with the Scottish Football League in the summer - and a cross-border competition.

Clubs met at Hampden on Monday as they seek a consensus on a number of issues including league reconstruction.

A new league set-up has been driving the change among the SPL's members, but there are a number of other objectives that clubs are being asked to back in a bid to turn around the fortunes of the Scottish game.

The document makes specific reference to unification of the SPL and SFL with an attractive reason being to "enable the SPL to explore the possibility of cross-border matches (potentially British Cup matches) via the Scottish League Cup".

The idea of a British club tournament has been proposed in recent years, with a 2001 proposal backed by Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne, which was ultimately rejected by the Football League in England.

In 1902, a British League Cup competition raised money for the Ibrox Stadium disaster and included the winners and runners-up of the Scottish and English Football Leagues.

Several other official and unofficial cross-border competitions have also taken place over the decades, including the Empire Exhibition Trophy in 1938, the Coronation Cup in 1957, the Texaco Cup and the Anglo-Scottish Cup.

Some other proposals included in the SPL's strategic plan include:

    * The national team's Fifa ranking to improve from 66th to 15th within five years

    * The SPL's coefficient ranking to improve from 16th to 10th in five years

    * Broadcasting revenues to increase by 50% in five years

    * The Scottish Football Association to make payments to clubs when players are on international duty

A draft of the document was discussed at a meeting on 7 January but has since been re-drafted after prolonged deliberations over a number of months.

BBC Scotland has learned that a vote on the proposals should finally take place in mid-May.

    No thanks.

Would be a farce - third string teams if the English were to even sully themselves and enter.

  7. The standard of refereeing in this country is abysmal.

That list makes me want to cry.

Could score a wee quadruple victory if we got in a decent foreign referee for this game.

    1) - Would give us a better referee than anyone on that list.

    2) - Would shut the fucking mhopes up about referees and the SFA when we win.

    3) - Would suss out Hooper/Commons/Maloney/Kayal/Stokes/Izaguirre's diving having seen it often enough on the continent.

    4) - Would give Jela some much needed protection from the hammer-throwers in the tim team.

  8. Add Euan Norris and Alan Muir to that list

    Norris, aye no bother.

Muir has been slightly better than the average, but that's not much.

Honestly though, out of this list, who would you want to referee the OF game?

    Thomson

    Brines

    Norris

    Muir

    Tumilty

    Collum

    Winter

    Allan

    Not exactly an easy choice.

  9. I think it's referees aren't allowed to do consecutive matches involving the Old Firm

So that rule is to be enforced, but the one about not doing more than two OF games a season is to be ignored?

    Very odd.

Sod's law said that it would be a shite referee as well.

Would have given it to Tumilty or Murray if Collum couldn't get it.
