You're entitled to your opinion mate but I honestly think that is a load on nonsense.

Thats the whole point about the forum isnt it mate, opinions, it would be boring if we all agreed. We all want Rangers to win though

Maybe I just don't sugarcoat the actual performances from our best players? Jelavic and Davis are good players in their own right but not immune to criticism.
Let me ask you these two questions, do you think it's acceptable for our best midfielder and captain to have 1 great game so far this season in about 10 games?
Do you honestly believe Davis has took games by the scruff of the neck this year and last regularly?
Davis has played well in most games this season, not brilliant but it is difficult when you are playing beside Edu, McCulloch, Ortiz, Broadfoot etc. None of them want to take responsibility for making the incisive pass. They will just pass sideways or pass it to Davis who then has to make the creative pass which doesn't always come off because the movement from the other players is poor and then it is Davis who looks poor and he is having to drop deep to get the ball. So i think him not playing aswell this season is more about the players he is playing with. I will criticise any Rangers player who i don't think is any good including Davis but imo he is the best player in Scotland.

Never hides? Did you even watch our game in Slovenia? He was invisible.
Naismith dominated the midfield at Motherwell IMO and Davis was dominated today by average muck from sheep land.
Good player at what he does but vastly overrated and McKay could do the same job and we could sign the type of player Davis is not and what we badly lack a 'creative midfielder'
you obviously have a problem with Davis as he was brilliant against well last week and totally dominated the midfield along with Naisy. Its your opinion mate and i've got mine but like i said lets see how good we would be without him.

Generally don't see this whole Davis has been consistent for three seasons, been too inconsistent in my view and nowhere near captain material.
Name games he dominates or takes by the scruff of the neck? The odd game he has done this, does not dominate football matches at all.
he dominates the midfield every week, he is the only player who wants the ball, however poor he might be playing he never hides. IF he leaves then i think it would be obvious how much we need him.
If you don't think Davis is any good, are ther any players in the team that you rate??

Any time Edu's having a bad game he takes horrible abuse, yet those same one's turn a blind eye to Steven Davis inconsistency and poor performances.
PS - He played well today.

Scotland and England could play their respective cups down to the last 8, and then they join up to form a last 16.
The TV money would be a welcome source of income for Scottish Football, and our English counterparts would be only too glad to help us out. We're all British after all.
It could even be a "last 8" if they thought 16 was too much, or too many extra games.
i would like it but IMO it will never happen

yeah i know but teams in England would have no interest as there would be no benefit, if there is no interest in the Carling Cup then why would playing teams like Ross County, Raith rovers etc make them interested

Very true.
However there is not that much interest in the carling cup especially from the Premier league clubs. Hence reserve teams until the very late stages.
I think it is a good idea but it would only benefit teams in Scotland

i said this the other day on a different thread but im amazed by the people on here that don't rate Davis. He is our best outfield player by a long way. Jelavic is good but has only done it for the last 6 months where as Davis has been consistent for the last 3 years, taking games by the scruff of the neck and dominating the midfield. Last seasons CIS cup final he was outstanding, yes he has the odd bad game but so does every player. There are too many people on here who jump on him every time he has a poor game. He has also just committed himself to Rangers for the next 5 years, which is more than most would have done, if he wanted to leave his agent could have sorted it easily, there would have been plenty of EPL teams that would have signed him when he was entering the final year of his contract. He MUST stay and Remain as captain IMO.

Would prefer the league cups in England/Scotland to be scrapped to form a British cup, but can't see it occurring!
Clubs need to give the younger players more games, especially the Old Firm and since the reserve league has been scrapped it's probably the best possible solution.

Why did he take Lafferty off & leave one up front? he should have took Edu off for Bedoya instead, he made us play 1 up front, against the 9th best team in the SPL.
And a team that has not beat us at Ibrox for 20 years.
FFS we won 2-0, it wasn't a great performance but it's 3 points.. Give McCoist a break

I'd sell for 5 million tbh.
Losing Davis would be a blow, but if it gives McCoist the money to add three or four players it could be a blessing in disguise.

I would hate to see Davis, Jelavic or McGregor go but if it is the only way we can balance the books then thats what has to happen. I would like some truth and honesty from Whyte as to exactly what is happening.
In saying that Davis & McGregor have been available for transfer for 3 years now and nobody has come in for them, so with them signing new deals an there value going up i would be surprised if anybody made bids for them

No one to blame but the boss. We now find ourselves in a position where we need to sell to balance the books. Fucking scandalous. Saying that, we are no one man team and if the wee man goes, he goes, its not like he is carrying the team or anything, he is as inconsistant as anyone else in the team.
Will be intresting to see what figures we are talking about for "the Golden Child". Im guessing we would be lucky to get £5m.
we don't know that we have to sell yet.... do we??

could be crap but i am starting to wonder if the 5 year deals could be set in place to get us more money in
nobody was willing to bid for him when he only had a year left on his contract.. Him signing the new deal has put a few mil on his transfer fee so i would be surprised if somebody will id the 4/5 mil required but i suppose nobody knows how desperate we are for the cash.
IMO he is our best player and he must stay

Unfortunately source doesnt mention how we are looking to offload these players. I hope its not a case of the usuall pay off there contracts and release them or sell them for half their value. More than likely will be.
Agree with you about Weir, in a way though, I feel he should not have been given a new contract. Hopefully he will stay and have an influence on the coaching side of things.
I would be happy to offload Beattie & Edu before Wednesday, that would free up about 25/30k and we should get 1.5mil for Edu (hopefully)
