And if Warburton picks Weir then surely we have to trust he believes he is the right man.
And if he doesn't?
-
But Warburton has chosen Weir as his number 2, do you not think he sees something in him, he has stated that they are a package so he must think he is up to the job. Im sure if you were moving posts and had the chance you wouldnt take the guy who was poor.
Didn't see any quotes about them coming as a package.
If Warburton comes and brings Weir with him you are correct, he must believe in him.
I just think there are better options out there and a strong manager needs to put sentiment aside and pick the best No 2 he can.

A manager, his assistant and their coaches are part of a team. Hence why managers will take their coaching team with them.
They usually attribute success and failure to the team not the individual
I'm a middle manager. I have three supervisors who work for me. One is very good, one is average, the other is poor and has made no contribution to our successes. By your logic he is a good supervisor.

I call it the McCoist factor. Had a reasonable rep as a No 2. But hopeless as Manager. We don't know if Weir is good as a No 2, because like McCoist was he is given credit for the success of others. So if he does well in the position he will be coming as it dosen't matter but if he does badly in a position he's not coming as it's completely relevant.
Nae bother pal.
My point is that if we judge him on what he has done alone in management he wouldnt get in the building.
-
He's not coming as a manager.
First of all we don't know if he is coming at all.
His performance as a manager is relevant. It shows his capability. He failed as a manager.
Being no 2 to a successful Warburton previously gives us no indication of his ability.
Would rather it was someone else.
-
Why?
Because he was a disaster at sheff united
-
2 Portuguese league titles,2 Portuguese Super Cups,1 League Title and 1 Greek Cup with Olympiacos....how is he a shite manager? Look at the style of play Porto have been playing the last few years...what has Warburton done compared to Pereira?
To be honest if Davie Weir wasn't with him would we even be looking at him in the first place?
Would rather Warburton was joining without Weir tbh.

Bet victor 1/5

No thanks.

Over the past two years just about every Rangers Media user commented upon how we wasted an opportunity to get it right. At every turn those in charge have chosen through fear the negative option.
Hearts made a bold appointment and got their rewards.
It is time to make positive long term decisions.

Thank fuck. The point was more, neither experience nor youth guarantees you success.
I would say on Cathro i would be very surprised if he's still in the running. Yes people could knock us back but i thnk McCall or big Eck is more likely to be called upon than Cathro.
The problem is that McCall, and particularly McCleish will offer a tired brand of football. I have no doubt that if either got the job everyone would be moaning within weeks. McCall did not do enough in the time he had to make him serious candidate and Eck's signing record on balance is poor, plus he'll want top dollar.
-
The common thread between the 3 main rumoured candidates? No real career as a pro player. Just like Mourinho.
Cathro is earlier in his development than the other 2 (Periera, Warburton), so is more of a risk but will be cheaper and has the potential to be better. He is also the most likely to build a Ferguson-esque 20-25 year dynasty, if he works out. That is very much the Rangers way and why I would edge towards him out of the 3.
I would be happy with any of the 3 and I don't think you get the chances they have, as non-players, unless people have seen some talent in you.
Well put.
-
I appreciate that but practically every other candidate for me blows him out the water. He's going to have had to have done some serious convincing for me.
Again I don't disagree that Pereira and Warburton are much better applicants. But Pereira might not be interested (speculation is that he has lost interest due to not getting promoted), Warburton might have priced himself out the job.(speculation is that he was wanting quite big money)
The speculation might be bs but if it is true and Cathro had a good interview and is not wanting big cash to me it seems a good bet to go for him.
-
Probably because he's highly thought of and just to get a feel of him. I think they've gone into the process with a different man in mind.
I don't disagree. But sometimes people don't want to come, change their mind, or don't meet your expectations after speaking to them, or someone shines that you didn't expect.
I can remember going for a job and getting it after having a cracking interview. I was told afterwards that I'd caused them a bit of a headache as they had been 100% sure beforehand that someone else would have been best at interview.
-
I don't think Cathro has a chance of getting the job at all.
Why speak to him them?
-
For sure, compare it to what I thought it would be with:
Davies
McCall
Butcher.
A huge improvement, but who knows if it'll be either of those 3.
I think it will be Cathro. Speaking to the likes of Pereira and Warburton is great.
I just have a feeling that they'll price themselves out the job.
-
Encouraged by the names we've been linked with.
Cathro
Warburton
Pereira
You could make a case for each of them.
Cathro probably the riskiest but the cheapest appointment. Pereira the safest and costliest.
-
Such a big decision I think we should advertise the vacancy, deadline of 10 days time for expressions of interest. Interview top five applicants after papersift.
-
Danny Wilson tooNicky Clark bottom left - who knew!
-
Thanksi've always said that my dream is to play for Rangers one day! So hopefully will happen one day
-
Was he not on here before touting himself for a move.
-
For RB Mitchell Weiser
For CB JAN-ARIE VAN DER HEIJDEN
-
I think we'll keep improving although we are up against a decent team in Hearts next.
Another weeks training and coaching. One or two changes and we should have a reasonable chance.
-
Said it when McCall joined. It will take two to three weeks to get them fit. Most look about half a stone overweight.

Fair enough. I just think that is flawed to automatically credit someone as a success without knowing what they actually did.
If Warburton brings him in as No 2 I'll support them both. I just have some reservations about Weir as a coach based upon his time at Sheff Utd.
