Only thing I'm not happy with in that interview......he's going to talk to Ally
Otherwise excellent, full house at Ibrox me thinks
I sense that's more to say sorry but I've got your job mate

Spoke well.
Logical appointment in the short term.
-
I'm sure with double sessions the squad will reach much higher fitness levels

No cowboys

I'm pro Magath in many respects.
His only weakness (in my opinion) is that he is, as far as I am aware, a proponent of "extreme" long distance running (at a slow to moderate pace) for footballers.
If he modernises his views away from that (and towards the repetition of short intense efforts, plus serious-minded classical strength training), I'd be amenable to him, as I believe these methods suit the game in the UK.
On the technical side, similarly to a number of the other candiates being mooted, I believe he likes the ball played quickly on the ground. That is always welcome from a fan perspective (and in fact, I'd also argue that it is welcome from a football development and business perspective).
As to the "cheese gate" criticism -- that was an exercise in easy point scoring against him by a club hierarchy looking for an excuse to besmirch him and move him out the door with the approval of its fans. The reality of that situation was that he was an advocate of using whey protein (a cheese making by-product and a popular and proven sports supplement) to accelerate muscle healing.
Just my opinon.
PS: SAF would be the dream appointment of course. A telephone call might, at the very least, be worthwhile.
I genuinely think we need someone radical like him.
Our players are clearly not fit enough.
They lack movement off the ball and confidence in their own ability to play fast flowing football.
We don't play as a unit either.
Magath's teams have always been fit and good technically.

I am consistent. We need quality players and a quality manager. It's as simple as that. I only questioned whether Cathro would be happy swapping being Number 2 at Valencia for being Number 2 at Rangers. I doubt he would. I doubt anyone would tbh. I don't have a problem with you thinking we need or you wanting a quality manager for Rangers. That's what we need afterall. I want Rangnick or Jemez in charge. Rela quality. Frankly the idea of a Stuart McCall or Terry Butcher makes me sick.
Fair enough - we are on the same page after all.
Aim high and go for someone a bit different and less obvious.
-
This bit...I am not sure what you mean to be honest.
No more Nicky Laws, Ian Blacks or Ricky Fosters. No rubbish. No mediocre journeymen. From now on it must be quality. Real quality.
You had a wee dig at me because I suggested a cathro as a no 2 to Magath.
Same principle applies - go for quality managers.
Yet on another thread you are talking about going for a rated Spanish manager!
Be consistent.
-
Do you honestly believe Cathro would leave Valencia to be second in command at Rangers in our current state?
Just read your post on this

Explain the difference

Some people on this forum are living in a dreamworld.
Believe in setting the bar high. Not convinced McCall or McIness can deliver the things King wants.
I think they'd be better than Ally and Kenny.
I think Cathro as No1 is a risk. I like what I hear about him though bit prefer the security of someone experienced at the helm.
Unless we go for an unknown like Deila.

Only said who I'd go for. Never said we'd definitely get them.
If you don't ask you don't get and it may suit him to come home.
-
I would go for Felix Magath with Cathro his number two.
His CV is a million times better than every other candidate and he could develop Cathro for the manager's job.

33,146 or thereabouts
-
Billy Davies or Stuart McCall until the end of the season.
-
I'm positive because by March 7th we will have a new manager in place.
We need someone who is going to lift the place and can get the best out of what we've got.
Is McCall capable of doing that - Yes.
But there are other options. Some are riskier than others but offer something different and have the potential to take us further.
Ultimately the football setup needs to:
-Develop are own
-Identify talent
-Coach effectively
-Have a system and structure that gets the best out what we have
-
Wonder if any of our players are on drugs - certainly playing like the are
-
-
The young Ferguson ... heard it was Stuart McCall and wee Barry.
-
Hopefully whoever is in charge uses their loaf and goes for him. He'll cost a bit of dough though.
-
I feel quite sick after reading that.
We really need the SFO to come in and review all the questionable dealing that has went on.
-
You're right
-
Fucking 'supporters' backing the SFA compliance officer against our captain. This is what we have become ! And that is fucking sad!
The last time we played in Europe the referee took ten yards off him, running past him to keep up with attacking team.
He was finished then and is even more finished now.

Unfit?
Boyd is morbidly obese.
Back on the smoked sausage supper diet.
-

Kris Boyd - no
Ian Black - no
Jon Daly - no
Bilel Mohsni - no
Stevie Smith - no
Kyle Hutton - no
Richard Foster - no
Steve Simonsen - no

Sebastian Faure - no
anyone you would keep?
Any you are sad to see not on that list?
Over £3m worth of wages.
See comments - wouldn't keep any.

SM has taken just a few days to realise how poor these players are.
I think Crawford will play right back. He has stamina and decent pace.
Wallace left back.
McGregor and Marius CB.
Midfield of Templeton, Murdoch, Law and Aird.
Daly and Hardie up front.
