  1. Congrats to both Basel and APOEL. It's always refreshing to see clubs from smaller countries compete with the big boys and will hopefully inspire Ally and the players to get us back playing champion's league football. I agree with an earlier post that qualifying for the group stage isn't as hard as people think as long as we are league champions.

  2. It was probably his first start at Ibrox and I thought he was impressive particularly in the first half. I noticed that he always wanted the ball and never hid which can't be said for some of our more experienced players and when he got the ball he always looked for a forward pass. I think if we put him deeper in midfield he would be a very good playmaker which we haven't had since Barry Ferguson.

  3. A point not lost on many either in that it was one of our most solid and convincing displays of the season. Also think Perry played that day as well.

That's right young Perry was excellent that day. I just feel a wee bit sorry for some of the youngsters/fringe players when you see some of their fine performances in friendlies but then have next to no chance of making it into the squad. Must be even worse for them watching some of our first team players struggle for form at times this season but are always in the team the following week.

  4. I'm very happy to see a few of the youngsters will get their chance to impress tonight. However, if 1 or 2 do impress will they get a chance for future games ? The reason I ask is McMillan came in against Motherwell earlier in the season and IMO was terrific but he hasn't played since which can't be good for his confidence.

  5. Seen Scott Allan playing for Scotland U21's and he looked a class act. Was very comfortable on the ball, played a couple of nice reverse passes and basically played the game with his head up showing good composure to take the ball in tight areas and retain it well. Also looked to be a decent enough striker of the ball. Just hope we get him as other clubs are obviously aware of his situation.

He kind of falls under the no10 position and in my opinion, from the little ive seen, looks like he has the potential to be a top top player.

Hopefully the fact that he's a Rangers fan will also sway the boy into signing for the Champions!

I agree. I've only seen him a couple of times myself but I have been impressed. Technically he looks excellent and seems to be very comfortable on the ball. Hope we sign the lad not only because he is an exciting talent but also to get it right up Houstoun.

  6. Although Edu has some great attributes I think he really needs to work on his first touch and he needs to learn to make space so our defenders can pass to him. If an offer came in for Mo I would sell him. We have Ness and Hutton who in my opinion will be better than Mo in the coming years.

  7. After reading in the Evening Times today about us apparantly interested in a Greek striker for £2 million, it got me thinking. Surely there are players of good quality available on pre contracts in January rather than spending money on a fee plus wages. Boumsong, Prso, Darcheville were all signed on pre contracts.

I found this article with all the Bundesliga players who are out of contract in summer 2012.

I'm not saying we could afford to pay the wages of the majority of the players in this list, however there could be one or two gems in there. It is also a potential moneymaker for us as the Boumsong trasfer showed.

  8. I think he will be a success as a Rangers player he just needs some time. Coming from Spain to the SPL will have been a huge culture shock to him also I'm pretty sure he doesn't speak much english which can't be helpful. Give him time.

  9. It's things like this that prove football has now become all about money. Rosell wants a 16 team La Liga so his team can fit in more "lucrative friendlies". :disappointment: Aye ok because thats what the fans want.

I do believe that european football needs some new ideas but with these proposals the only people I can see benefiting are the big european leagues.

The fact that Rosell made these comments in Qatar says it all really. Football has become a business rather than a sport.

  10. Just started a game today as the Port Vale gaffer. I'm 13th in the table after about 16 games :disappointment: but I knocked out Sheff Utd in the FA cup to get into the 3rd round. Playing Andy Little up front and he's scored 1 goal fuck sake. I did however sign Bendiksen on a free transfer and he seems to be doing the biz.

Another thing, there was a German takoever at the club and there was all this talk about me being replaced but I've managed to hold on. Oh aye I was the bookies favourite for the Hamilton job as well but I declared my future to Port Vale. Give it 20 year and I will gloriously lead this team into League 1. :crabflute:

  11. If he was any good he would have been snapped up by a swedish team so he's no even worth looking at. We shouldn't be going for unknown players who have played for the poorest team in the swedish league !

Give the guy a chance. All footballers need to start their career somewhere. It's like James McArthur when he was at Hamilton. He is a decent player who played for a side that got relegated from the SPL. He now plays in the premiership and is a regular in the Scotland squads. If big Sise isn't good enough then Super won't sign him but theres no harm in having a look and giving the big guy a chance.
