I'm hardly being a fanboy. He said that Neymar will be better than messi which at this stage in neymars career is a crazy thing to say. Next time i'll remember not to mention Messi being amazing at football when brought up in a thread at the risk of being called a "fanboy".

Messi in many peoples opinions is close to becoming the greatest player ever and your seriously saying at this stage Neymar who is almost completely unproven on the top stage will be better? Listen you go anywhere in the world and i mean the whole world and you say what is the biggest , violent and well known derby in the world the majority will say The OF without a doubt. I would love to know the viewing figures for an OF game compared to say Man U v Man City or Chelsea v Man U on Sky. Apart from the top 4 in the prem i would be positive we would get a bigger viewing figure than the rest.
A derby will always mean more to the fan involved with the certain team whos in the derby.
For pure footballing quality it would prob be barca v real , but for pure hatred and history its the OF everytime.
I certainly think your underestimating the history and hatred in derbies like Fenerbache Vs galatasaray and river vs boca but the old firm is definitely very special!

Think some Polish derby (wisla krakow and someone) may be in their somewhere but I find you've got to be part of the rivalry to fully understand it and it's depth.
true about the polish ones, theyre fucking mental. But i do think by attempting to take a neutral point of view you can still try and judege how big a rivalry is by looking at things like atmosphere, how equal the teams are, crimes after game and then added things like politics, religion, social class etc.

Football rivalry's have always been something ive been interested in and most articles and sports websites rate the old firm very near the top in terms of hatred and rivalry whether it be sports in general or just football. For me the top 5 constists of: 5- panathinaikos vs olimpiakos
4- Real vs barca
3- fenerbache vs galatasaray
2- rangers vs celtic
1- boca juniors vs river plate
What does everyone else think?
