  1. He can fight, but he's not Premiership quality atm. His only chance is Newcastle's relegation. I think he'll end up in the Championship one way or another. There's still a chance we could get him if we get promoted, though. What he wants, isn't necessarily what he'll get. (he says hopefully)

I think he'd be quite happy to stay with us if Newcastle stay up and we get promoted. He'd be pretty much guaranteed to start for us, so he'd have every chance to show off his talents to EPL sides.

Mind you, that's maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

  2. Interesting he highlights the concern on Conflict of Interest with DD and the betting company. Has this ever been commented upon by football authorities? Be interested in knowing if they where in the know or it was kept quiet.Maybe no one has enquired?

If he's so concerned about corruption in football and has genuine concerns about Septic's past or present links with a betting company then why hasn't he investigated that?

  3. I'd love it if we made a move for Warburton.

    I can't see it though :(

He'll be in demand, so that means that his salary expectations might be a problem for us. Other than that, and the question of his willingness to come, he'd be a good shout.

  4. When will McCall learn that McCulloch is hopeless as a centre back? Apart from his lack of pace, his positional sense when defending set-pieces is woeful.

I can understand why Foster was replaced, but McCall shouldn't have tampered with the spine of the defence. Even sticking Mohsni on as a makeshift right back for the last few minutes would have a better option than the one he chose.

We can get through the play-offs, but McCall needs to get the team selection and substitutions right.

  5. Everyone knows the SNP want independence.

But they have made it perfectly clear this UK election isn't about that - we just had a referendum.

This UK election is about the chance to get more powers and influence for Scotland while we are part of the UK.

Ah, fuck it. One last comment is called for:

Do you know that 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary?

  6. where have you got this information from, I have seen and heard the current leader of SNP saying over and over again that they have no plans to propose another referendum and if they were going to it would have to voted for anyway!

There is absolutely nothing inevitable about it, conversely, if the snp did hold some sway at westminster they would have to make some serious compromises to get that sway - which would mean their support reduces with every compromise made in the westminster parliament.

people should vote for who they like in an election and should support the football team they want to - the two don't have to be related and one should never be used to pick the other, there's a hell of a lot more to life than football or politics

I've heard plenty of rumblings that the SNP will push for another referendum if they do well at the GE and in next year's elections. It remains their central ethos. If they are successful then, mark my words, there will be a push for another referendum. I hope I'm wrong about that.

Anyone voting for the SNP should be worried about their capabilities based on their eight years in power and their laughable financial case for independence - if they can get something as fundamental as that so badly wrong then it hardly inspires confidence in anything else they do, does it?

People should use their heads when voting. Too many people don't, and therein lies a problem.

Anyway, time to bow out of this thread. I've made my point, and I'm not going to, er, labour it.

  7. I hope Stuart goes for 3-5-2, with Jig either or the bench or (if he must play) up front. Shiels needs to start, but Kenny should drop to the bench. Mohsni is a worry, but hopefully someone has told him to remember the under-pressure defender's code: if in doubt, lump it out.

Whatever the formation, I wish Stuart and the boys the very best of British. Even if Falkirk don't do us a favour, a good performance and result would set us up well for the play-offs.

  8. do you understand that this is a general election for the makeup of the uk parliament and not an independence referendum?

I'm amazed that people of voting age can't understand the difference between what their votes are actually for

Yes. I'm quite well aware of the difference between a GE and a referendum, thanks.

Do you understand that a successful GE campaign for the SNP will inevitably lead to another referendum*? You have to look at the ultimate outcome of an SNP vote rather than confine it to the present election. Or is that beyond your understanding?

*And even if there isn't another referendum then it's likely that the SNP could use their block vote to secure more powers for Holyrood in a hung parliament. The more powers they have, the more damage they can do. It's not rocket science, bud.

  9. A vote for SNP is a vote to break up the Union.

It's worse than that. They really have no clue about how to run a country. Frankly, I wouldn't trust them to run a bath.

Their economic policies don't even make it as far as the first hurdle. There's a *slight* problem with funding that no amount of bluster, rhetoric or downright lies can mask. The only way that the books could be balanced (and, frankly, I think that would become impossible after a short time) is by sharply raising taxes (the result of which will be that people and businesses will leave the country in droves) and/or making severe cuts in public spending. Investment will be curtailed and jobs will go. Research projects will be badly affected by the lack of external funding, leading to financial difficulties for our universities and yet more job losses. The SNP defence policy will also result in substantial job losses, and not just those associated with Trident. The Royal Navy will not allow its warships to be built in foreign countries, which Scotland will become if the SNP get their way, so what's left of our shipbuilding industry will be looking at oblivion.

I've hardly even started but the picture is clear: the SNP will destroy this country. And that's one hell of a price to pay for being able to say: "See us. We're pure independent an' that."

  10. He's a bit of a dick but I'm glad someone had a go at him. Pearson deserves every bit of stick he gets.

I don't deny that Pearson has made a rod for his own back. It just sticks in the craw a bit when the BBC appoint themselves as moral and professional guardians.
