  1. after he signed for gers, a guy from paris had been on this site to say to us not to get too excited about rothen. said he was slow, but could retain the ball well, had a good delivery with his left foot, but often disappointed from corners and set pieces, normally not clearing the first defender, thus leaving the fans disappointed as they knew was capable of better. my first thought when i read this was, god he sounds just like charlie adam ! from what i have seen he is obviously a lot better than charlie, but i see where the psg fan was coming from with his delivery from corners, dont know if anyone else has been frustrated with them, but i'd love the guy to be a success at rangers and the above article sounds as if he is keen to do so.

  2. corluka is an out and out defender, defend first at all time, where hutton is a good defender he excells when given a licence to bomb forward. in scotland he could get away with that as most teams don't leave too many attackers up front, but in the premiership anyone caught out of position normally gets punished

  3. thats chief scout ewan chester, getting a fortune to go and look at players that are not gers class. he must have been enjoying a few beers in cardiff before going to watch loovens, then reccomend him as a good player to walter ! phew !

  4. The main difference between Miller/Lafferty and Boyd is that it seems that Smith has 100% belief in their ability to perform in the so called "biggest" games that this club play in.

I still think Smith has that lingering doubt about Boyd and that's why he isn't being offered the same money that they are.

On one hand you can say Smith is taking a risk by not offering him a deal, but at the same time you can say Smith is taking an equally big risk by giving a striker who will sit on the bench when the so called "biggest" games come calling a pay rise to bring him in line with other top stars who he has 100% trust in to perform and put in a shift.

It's a doubled edged sword, and it's something I'm glad I don't have to make the final decision on.

    bang on as usual guv'nor

are you sure about those stats though ? berbatov covering more ground than tevez, i'm off to get my eyes checked

  5. i think boyd is just naturally unfit.

he has been at rangers for four years now using the excellent facilities and there has been no improvement despite him being at an age where he should be at his peak.

either that or his application is disgraceful.

naturally unfit, thats a belter, i've heard of naturally fit. thats how i'm gonna describe myself at the 5s. you'd think training for 4 hours a day and playing at least once a week you should be fairly fit. i dont think that is the issue. if you look at berbatov, another player that is 'naturally unfit', he covers even less ground than boyd, the difference is he has got a great first touch that gives him that bit of extra time. get a berbatov dvd to boydy immediatly (tu)

  6. even the wee woman thats sits infront of me in the govan rear that normally leaves bang on 75 mins stayed til the end on sunday. mind you, i'm normally glad when she goes, ever since the smoking ban kicked in i've noticed a pungent smell coming aff her. i'm sure she is constantly ricky martin during the game. god knows what she has for her prematch lunch, but her ass is honking, no joke ! mabey she has got a problem with her own govan rear

  7. Don't you know that hating the management and certain players is the cool thing to do. :pipe:

i've just started hating, i started coz all my friends were hating and one hate led to another. my mum does'nt know i hate and would kill me if she found out, she is always banging on that it is not good for my health. i'm now on 20 hates a day and think i might be addicted. but i agree it is cool. anyone know a good hypnotist so i can get off these blasted hates ?

  8. personally i couldnt fault him, his effort and work rate was fantastic, his touch was good, and helped out his defence with some good tracking back and as said already he put his foot in.

well done wee man, good to see you back, onwards and upwards

  9. I think KT will make it, and possible big Lee, anyway if they don't we can have a midfield 4 of Rothen, Mendes, Davis and either Naismith or Novo, with either Naismith or Novo playing up front with either Fleck, Boyd or Little. Davis and Mendes will have to step up their games and Davis being the bully, but I still think they are good enough to beat Celtic.

There is absolutely no need going into any sort of game with a midfield containing both McCulloch and Thomson, especially when Mendes and Davis are available. Smack's of negativity, lack of creativity, width and balance.

you,ve changed your mind muff, on the drop pedro mendes thread the other day when i suggested mendes should start, you replied "Far too tippy tappy, slows the play down to walking pace, wasteful in possession, goes into hiding mode far too often, pushed off the ball far too easily, get's caught out of position, awful delivery, decision making is poor".

have u been watching his goals on youtube or have you remembered it could be worse, it could have been a right back or centre half playing in the middle of the park like before ?

Mendes or McCulloch - I know who my choice would be :)

if thats your take on mendes, what must you think of big lee ? he he ;)

  11. Get Mendes to fuck in January if you ask me, keep playing him in the CL and hopefully he'll do something that will make someone want to sign him, dropp him for everything else. Hasnt kicked a ball in months.

Its time for the Mendes lovers to realise he's not the player we thought he was.

Couldn't agree more hes a wanker could do lots of things wrong and the fans only reconise the one good thing he would do :uk:

my god..is this for real ? are you sure you are a rangers supporter ? how can you call one of your own teams players a wanker for having a few bad games. are you a wanker if you have a bad day at work ? you've probably never met the guy. lets have a proper debate without name calling. away back to celtic park brendan. :wanker:

  12. contrast our midfield performance for 55 minutes last night with PM, with our midfields performance on saturday? Do you want us to go with Thomson & McCulloch? We might have been beaten last night, but give me more of what i saw first half please.

and in case you have been on the moon recently, we have no fucking money, what are we going to replace him with? McCulloch???????????

the guy behind me was shouting after 20 minutes to get Novo on for Mendes? Novo in central midfield in a champions league match against the 3rd best team in the worlds best league FFS.

whilst i know the argument 'you pay your money' yadda yadda, but we have to be the gurniest, whingiest, ungrateful support in the world. we turn on players, management etc at the drop of a hat, no one is safe from the irate Bear these days.

Who ever plays will get my support for the entire time they are on the pitch, anything else is actively helping the opposition. When we turn on the players, there heads drop and the opposition gets a lift.

I honestly don't know why some people go to Ibrox, if it makes them so unhappy, why bother? the slightest misplaced pass, or mistake the players may make is greeted with howls of derision from the stands, no matter the game or the occasion. The players do not pick themselves!!!!!!!!

we don't have a divine right to win anything, and there will always be periods where we are not as good as we want to be, and whilst we all want whats best for The Rangers, we have to accept some situations for what they are, its what makes winning again feel so good. We had not won the title for 4 years until that magic day in may at Tannadice, and it took 5 games from that day, for the support to turn on the players. 5 games grace for delivering our first title in 4 years, unbelievable!

i sense that perhaps some of the abuse being directed at PM comes from suporters with some sort of misplaced loyalty to Barry Ferguson, but hey maybe im wrong. A poster on this thread mentioned a

Support the players oin the pitch for 90 minutes and give them a lift, and stop behaving like a whining school kid.

i do not have my head in the sand, i was aware that up until last night our performances were poor, particularly. in our last 3 games, but i genuinely saw enough last night to see a chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

i know its all ifs and ands, but if we had got that penalty last night, which was as blatant as you are likely to see, and Sevilla had been 1-0 down, and the entire 2nd half to go with 10 men, we would have won the game.

the players cant be blamed for a clown of a ref. the free kick for their first goal should not have been given, the second (i think?) was from a bye kick that should have been a corner to us. yes we collapsed after going 2-0 down as we chased the game, but thats how thin the margins were last night.

if the players can take heart from the good things that i saw last night, and WS plays 4-4-2 then i have a really good feeling for sunday.

    here here

  13. looking forward to getting Edu back

I can't understand why Mendes isn't showing us the talent we know he has...its a mystery..

surely your not saying you would play edu who has only turned pro 2 years ago to start in the champions league instead of mendes, who has played in the premiership and actually won the champions league ? we all know that mendes never had an amazing game last night, but to pair edu and thompson who have zero champions league games under their belt is crazeeee !!

What the fuck has that go to do with it?

The fact is that Edu doesn't hide, keeps it simple, never loses the ball and suits out style of play much better.

Just because Mendes played in a Porto side that won the CL five or six years ago doesn't mean he should ALWAYS start.

mendes is obviously not everyones cup of tea, and normally i agree with a lot of your posts, i'm just a little surprised you feel that his experience at this level would not be a benefit to a side with little champions league game time between them.

Could you explain how his experience has benefited the team so far?

well, i thought we kept the ball very well against stugart in the second half, mendes was instrumental, we got a draw when after looking like we were gonna get hammered after 15 mins and again i thought for the first 50 mins until seville scored last night when the whole team fell apart we were giving a decent spanish team a good game, mendes again was at the heart of everything. listen, i'm not the biggest mendes fan as i stated earlier, all i'm saying is i understand the game enough to know experience plays a huge part in the game, ask anyone who has ever played the game.

  14. The fact is that Pedro Mendes isn't the player some make him out to be!

Far too tippy tappy, slows the play down to walking pace, wasteful in possession, goes into hiding mode far too often, pushed off the ball far too easily, get's caught out of position, awful delivery, decision making is poor, instead of trying to play a simple ball he tries a hollywood pass with the outside of the boot which 9/10 does not come off....

He's not kicked a ball all season, and is living off a few of his past performances, and goals. A luxury we can't afford, and if he was Lee McCulloch, Steven Whittaker, Kenny Miller, he'd be getting dogs abuse.

according to this thread he IS getting dogs abuse

    Hardly dogs abuse!

Imagine it was the others I mentioned!

you're probably right, those guys would have got it tight...infact there are not too many threads actually praising any player right now, no positivity towards any one at the club. i thought i was on f.f there
