  1. When you think of a waste of talent you tend to think on Charlie Miller (welcome to any other suggestions Derek Ferguson?)

But just how good could he Miller have been if he screwed the nut

world class? SPL Class? Top League Abroad Class?

Just watching some 95/96 footage and he was shit hot when breaking through

But how good could he have been?

  2. MrMccoist. In defence of Bawsburst (I can't believe I said that) unfortunately many people have NOT drawn a line after the AGM. They have just changed their line of attack. I too can feel passionate about what I perceive to be be moves by fellow bears which are not in the best interests of Rangers. However I do agree that he should temper his language a bit.

All he seems to do is attack fellow bears or the "rebs".

He really needs to get a life.

    Nuff said.

  3. A c*** being a useful thing leaves you out of that equation, stick to your fellow reb fs both of you can hit the rocks together. :pipe:

Nice one. I'm not a reb thanks. Nice referring to your fellow fans as rebels :) then again you probably aren't even one of us.

People are allowed different opinions to you.

You know, when someone supports the greatest team in the world. Show them some respect. I realise you have your opinions but the permabuse of bears and calling them rebs req's etc is so 2013 and so agm.

Most people drew a line there and moved on. Yet you seem to enjoy stirring up shit with your fellow bears more than you enjoy contributing to the forum

All that should matter is they support the most successful team in the world.

You seem to get more kicks sticking the boot into bears who don't agree with you.

Someone on this forum said it's about the badge on the front, not the name on the back and that's true.

It's about the badge on the front. Not who owns the club as long they do their bit to keep us successful

We all disagree, but you take it too far and spoil almost thread by attacking a bear or turning it into a boardroom debate

I'm not saying anymore, but seriously, learn some manners or respect. When i find out someone is a rangers fan they instantly have my respect, it doesn't matter if i agree with them or not. I still try and respect their opinion

As i said if you enjoy sticking the boot into bears so much i'm sure kerryfail street will welcome you with open arms

It's all about the Rangers - Not all about you.

  4. You appear joyous.....as is the usual reb emotion when such rhags print that which you see to your advantage. :cgreen:

Every post you make you seem to attack a fellow bear.

Don't you realise what that means. She/He's one of us.

Show some of your fellow bears some respect,. You don't have to agree with everyone but there is no need for the condescending tone.

Or else jump over to a celtic forum. You may feel more at home attacking bears there.

  5. 2 years ago we had over 20m in debt and a big tax case hanging over our heads.

I was guilty of putting my head in the sand back then, but the two situations are not comparable.

We have no debt and "some" cash in the bank. Even IF we ran out of cash, we would get some sort of investment from the guys currently invested, of that I am sure.

there is just NO WAY that these current investors and shareholders are going to watch the company go to the wall, when they have a sizable investment to protect.

I was thinking about this too gogzy.

Why would the easdales, etc who have invested a lot of money just to write it off.

  6. Good stories thanks to all for posting.

We are undoubtedly a special club and there is not another club in Europe that can match our numbers when it comes to travelling to away matches.

Makes me so angry when I think of what has happened to Rangers and how the support has been denied the opportunity of watching us in Europe.

There all great stories. But 1st Jans man. He reels you in as if you were there with him :000000082:

Its just the way he tells them bears : :7325:

  7. After a quick think (I'll repost if I can think of a better one - I've done about 50+ foreign away games with Rangers inc away European/world friendlies) I've decided to go with Bursaspor away about 3 years ago.

Started off well when my Dad demanded and ordered my wee Brother down from Dundee last minute with his lip trembling to watch my dog for me while I was away - this was satisfying as he's a wee prick. My Auntie usually dog sat for me when a game was on but for some reason she couldn't ... think she wasn't well?

    Anyway...

My mate Matthew was coming with me and our flight out was about 6am or something from Glasgow Airport.... so we took the responsible decision the night before to just stay up and do a 24-48 hour drinking bender instead of having to set our alarms for about 3am and getting about 2 hours sleep before leaving for airport.

We got to airport about 4am, even took a cargo and sat and drank it up the top of the escalators on the couches before going through security into departures ... had some amazing banter with two armed cops who were big bluenoses and happy to let us drink our beer. Seen Kplfishtank and a few other boys heading through as they were doing the Flightoptions trip that left about an hour before ours I'm sure.

Anyway the flight was good and sat next to some Tottenham fan on the plane. Got good banter with him especially when the trolly came round and I reminded him of his clubs Jewish roots and how it was a good idea to banish that myth and get me a vodka and lemonade ... which he did :D and took it in the spirit it was meant :D

Arrived and got taxi to our hotel to meet ex members off here The Booler and CaseyJones who were both wrecked. We had a few more and headed out and decided to get our bearings for the next day as Bursa was a 4.5 hour bus journey away and there was a bus leaving from the boozer round the corner from our hotel at 9am morning of game so we wanted to get that mapped out, which we did.

Back to the hotel and drinking until the early hours and then called it a night.

Set the alarm on my phone so we would be up in plenty of time to get the bus.

Alarm goes off at 8am, quick showers and out the door and round to the bar where the bus is leaving from.

9am comes and goes and we are the only two standing there like dicks. Not a peep in sight and certainly no bus.

Then It hit me ... the stupid cunt that I am forgot to put my clock on my phone forward two hours to local time ... the bus had left 2 hours ago .... how the fuck were we gonna get to the other side of Turkey ...

Trains, planes and automobiles. Got a taxi down to the ferry port .... seen an advertised ferry to Bursa, result. Everything would be fine.

Boarded the ferry and realised we forgot to take the name of the hotel to collect our match tickets. My mates on the phone to his wife back home and she's a bit dim and struggling to find the name of the hotel and when she does it's in a mad fucked up Turkish language so we've wrote it down best we could.

Got off the ferry and the place is like an absolute ghost town. Nothing for miles. No taxis, buses, shops, nothing.

We walk for miles and eventually find a wee shop our idea was just to get a few beers in us before plotting the next move, but time was getting on - was about 2 hours until kick off.

We walked into the shop and the wee guy had RangersTV on on his laptop ... it was surreal.

We said we were going to the game but no idea where we were going and there was no transport ...

He said he could help but it would cost us 70 euros and his mate would drive us in his car. We thought it was a fucking rip off (it didn't even occurr to us the dangers of getting in some random, Muslim Turk's car we've never met before thousands of miles from home) ... but in the end we agreed.

The car journey was literally two hours long and that was the driver going at a good pace. We were starting to worry. At one point we were ready to say just let us out, but something inside of us told us to back down. Suddenly there we were in Bursa and dropped right at the hotel where the ticket upload was taking place. The fellow was true to his word and tbh the 70 euros seemed like a fucking bargain in the end ... if we were lucky enough to get a taxi instead of a ride of this mad bastard you would have been easily talking a few hundred euros so really the guy done us a BIG favour ...

He even gave us some beers out his boot for after the match as a little gift (I planked them outside the ground for the bus home - I wasn't going 4 hours dry after a Champions League away game and they fuckin came in handy ... no one else had a morsil never mind a beer)

Journey home was uneventful really ... but the stupidity of missing the bus, the stress of finding a way to Bursa, the sheer luck of that shop in the middle of nowhere being open and the guys mate helping us by driving to the terror of thinking 2 hours is too long we might be getting kidnapped meant all in it's probably the most eye opening experience ever .... unless there's a trip I've forgotten about - probably have in fact, if it comes to me I'll post it.

    Brilliant story mate

    :)

  8. No matter what you think of Ally McCoist as a manager you can't say that he hasn't been a tremendous figurehead of the club over the last two years. As a manager I think he makes mistakes on almost a weekly basis and his signings have been average at best. However, I will never sit and judge a guy who has been put through the mill over the last couple of years. Until you are in that situation, no one will know what it's been like.

Some folk on here seem to forget everything he's done for the club over the years.

Some folk would still slag McCoist, if he cured cancer, won the champions league and knocked out Neil Lennon in the next OF game.

  9. The BTC was by no means a stick on case - in fact ( actually pure speculation on my part) both SDM and Lloyd's probably took the view that it was a lost case - they wanted that potential liability off the balance sheet - hence the pressure/ desire to sell - SDM - my ex hero has had a pretty easy ride from fans and press about his part in all this - keeping stum has certainly worked for him.

Lloyds would have put us in admin anyway if we lost BTC. ergo not having the liability?

CW had it all worked out based on European income that season. If we won BTC he was quids in if we didnt he was going to put us in admin anyway.

Us getting put out led to plan b withholiing paye

Dont see' why lloyds/SDM wouldn't have put us in admin had we lost BTC anyway.

  10. You might be surprised to know there are parts of that I agree with. We cant respond to everything and, in fact I wouldnt expect the club to. You asked what is the criteria for intervention - I would say protecting the brand.

However there is a considerable irony in the thrust of your article - which attempts to make a case for dignified silence.

A contributory aspect of the set of circumstances which cause you so much anger is our failure to deal with lies against our club and the consequences of that failure.

The greatly exaggerated toxic debt, in conjunction with our certain guilt over EBT's were the factors which led to to this. The newspaper articles based around the lies spun by the Rangers Tax Case Blog as well as the BBC Documentary - which even Lord Nimmo Smith acknowledged was the "trigger" to other activity - all set the tone and weaved the lie which eventually let our club fall into the hands of Whyte.

    Spot on as ever

Bain even gave an interview to the IRA lover with the identity crisis who apparently kills pensioners himself.

    It beggars belief D'art

  11. I think the OP was spot on, a bit long winded, but never the less correct.

To react to every piece of shite that is written or aired by the legions who hate us, who attack us at every opportunity, would achieve nothing.

Battering your head against a brick wall achieves nothing but giving you a sore head. To get through the wall its prudent to first find out if there is a gate.

Picking your battles is a tried and true method of winning the war. Leave tilting at every windmill to the Don Quixote's of the World.

One thing I have noticed on here is all the internet warriors who decried BP9 and others as being handwringers etc, have not yet laid out their plans for attacking those who attack us.

No battle plans, no individual court actions, no backing up your online rhetoric with actual action.

    Tell me I'm wrong.

But thats just it, its not about every crackpot. It's about winning hearts and minds.

Instead of letting Spiers Phil Mac Gorilla Brain and the Hag attack us in print how about redressing it

We dont have to respond to every article yes that is correct but equally sticking our head in the sand is what got us in this situation.

Ok, how would i deal with it? Ban Britney from Ibrox. - simple but effective. Why the hell he is allowed to darken our door is beyond words

Step 2 - Appoint a decent PR spokesman (not Jack. say someone like Alistair Campbell?) every time we are attacked in print, and its factually incorrect make sure we ask for apologies/corrections. His salary would probably be a tenth about we are paying JI

Step 3 - Engage with supporters groups such as VB etc more than once every six months- say monthly, and ask for their concerns.

Hell look at the decent bears we have on this forum who blog - most prominently D-Art who could be asked to redress idiots putting lies about us in print.

D'Art said the criteria above should be anything that damages the brand. I'd go further and say anything INCORRECT which damages the business/brand/supporters.

Too often its being left to VB - D'Art etc to defend us and although they are amazing at it. It has to come from the club.

Dignified silence nearly helped kill us. It beggars belief anyone still thinks this is a valuable option in glasgow in 2014.
