JB statements as close as I could note:

"Rangers FC is a phenomenal opportunity-I saw the semi final, loved the management team and was just blown away by the size and history of this football club.

Im not being disrespectful to anyone else but the Old Firm is one of the few games that the whole football world stops for. Very few games are on this scale - maybe Real v Barca -games that stop the world.

You have to come up to experience the size of the club- few clubs have anything like this - maybe Liverpool or Man U. The Hall of Fame board is amazing and seeing Bill Struth's picture reminds you of the history of Rangers.

I'm really looking forward to it and want to come up to win titles and trophies.Rangers has a winning culture. I want to work to be the best player in the county fb and there are some really good players. It's a challenge I'm looking forward to.

It wasn't an easy decision as I'm turning my back on EPL football with Klopp, Guardiola and Mourinho. But I'm up for this challenge -I just felt the time and opportunity was right-sometimes you can stay a bit too long st a party and there might have been a danger of that at Burnley- but I've had a great time and made some great friends there."

AD asked if he remembers criticising Scottish football a while ago:

"I've no idea what I said really - but that's not surprising as I've probably upset the whole universe at one time or another! I've said something about everyone!, but i don't take myself too seriously anymore."

AD asks about the hatred between Celtic and Rangers abd how being outspoken could be a problem, with his high Twitter profile etc

"I've organically reigned myself back over the past year or two just because I've mellowed a little as I've gotten a bit older and wiser. But football is a game of opinions and I've got mine - I just choose when and where a bit more carefully these days"

AD confirmed that he'll still be commentating with the Talksport team at The Euros this summer, which he says he still is (my missus would kick my ass if we were moving house and I was off to the Euros).

As an aside I reckon his wider UK media presence and networks could be helpful to RFC if managed well.

Hope I got most of it captured for you there ...

Didn't know Joey was a flutist too...the Motherwell County FB are immense!!!

  2. I sent an email with the video attached of that poor, unfortunate boy to the inpatient mental health unit, ward 22, Victoria wing at Burnley General Hospital!! I have been given full assurance that two psychiatrists have agreed that this very ill young chap has to be sectioned! He's subsequently been admitted indefinitely and is currently being treated with anti-psychotic medication and bloodletting using leaches!!! Staff asked me to pass on their apologies to the entire Rangers Fraternity on behalf of the boy and the whole of Burnley as they - and they couldn't stress this more strongly - fully accept that The Famous Glasgow Rangers was the only team for Joey Barton!!! I reluctantly accepted said apology but told them in no uncertain terms to get their fucking act the gither!!!??

Happy as Larry!!  The gaffer has played a blinder here I think.. obviously Joey's relationship with Frank will have had a big part to play in his decision but everything from SDoW the Everton legend showing him around last week, to Kenny the other experienced head in the dressing room (who could give advice on what it's like playing with Rangers compared to EPL and Championship).

Massive welcome aboard Joey.  As has already been said, you might be a cunt but you're our cunt now!

Are you 'Marvin' from 'The Scheme' perchance mate? ?

  4. Welcome Joey Barton to The Famous Glasgow Rangers....the most successful Club in world football!!!

This guy is a ferocious warrior...EXACTLY what we need to take on the scum next season!!! Can you imagine broonaldo trying to give him the evil eye at the handshake point before a match against them?....broonaldo's bladder and bowels will evacuate their contents?!!

However, more importantly, this guy can play and he'll help take us to a level we've not been at for a while...in terms of sheer profile also!!!

No room (or money) for such a role  - Sheils has not got the same pedigree as KM, he will therefore hold very little weight with our young uns. Someone said earlier his contract was to july, so perhaps we need to wait and see.. Crooks, Windass and Rossiter will push Sheils further down the pecking order.

We have to concentrate our efforts for the next season ahead, Sheils was not good enough in the championship - makes his position even less so now heading into the premier.

But you are correct, in Warbs we trust (tu)

I was basically trying to second guess why MW is keeping him on thus far in my original post. Not necessarily my views on Shiels....apart of course, from his work rate and endeavour. Got to agree with all you've said though....he ain't near Kenny in ability or, I suspect, influence on our young players in the dressing room! If, as you believe, his contract is up in July...it's fair to imagine he'll be gone at that point. ?

He is nearly 32 his football learning is well behind him as we can all clearly see, if the gaffer keeps him on for his graft and guile and not his footballing skills I will really start to worry.

*KM is an exception to the rule btw. (tu)

Take your point mate but mibs MW sees him and his influence in a similar mode to KM....and it's MW's view of him that counts ultimately.

  7. Clark, Templeton and Law being released was absolutely inevitable imo...it's a natural progression for the club...getting rid of the deadwood to free up funds for bringing in better quality...which we undoubtedly need for a good crack at the premiership. I personally, wish them all well in their next moves....it just didn't work out for these lads, unfortunately. If it's true Clark turned down an extension...although very surprising, mibs MW saw a player he could eventually turn into a prolific striker...who knows?! Clark, for his part, possibly reckoned he'd be better off finding a club at a lower level...self confidence did seem to be a problem for him!

On Shiels staying, if that indeed is to be the case..I think MW sees a player who gives his all and who's keen to learn...perfect for improvement in MW's eyes? He does like work rate and endeavour and Shiels certainly has that!

On Kiernan and Wilson? Well, I think they've been victims of our unwavering emphasis on outright attacking play...leaving them exposed in almost every game under Mr Warburton's tenure! As has been said by a few earlier in this thread, mibs a more solid and defensively aware midfield will remedy that. However, that doesn't take away from big Rob's terrible error for the ira man's first goal at the weekend....he reminded me of one of those guys on an aircraft carrier, beacon in each hand, guiding in landing jets ffs!!! It could actually almost go down as a fucking own goal!!!!!

See the fat cunt at the back with here big bag of Heroine.

The only reason they vaulted the hoardings with such apparent vigour was because they were promised a free purvey on the centre circle!!! On seeing these fat hounds (who have glandular problems btw...it's in no way gluttony), most Bears decided to stay in the stands for fear of being Burked by these substantially fat horrors!!!

Cheers M8, used Google and he sounds like a right bitter twat, here is part of what he wrote

Founded a decade earlier in 1875 they were the pioneers for the Irish community. The club had been set up by Canon Edward Hannan and Michael Whelahan, their first captain, as part of St Patrick’s Catholic Young Men’s Society in Edinburgh’s Cowgate.

Yet we are described as the sectarian club, this myth needs to be challenged at every turn, only 3 clubs in Scotland were founded on sectarian grounds and all three mirror the one mentioned above

?Exactly mate...thanks for posting that...just goes to show what we're up against!! They're obviously proud of their cofflick inception and heritage but we're the bigots for proudly displaying ours!! Only in modern day Scotland would you get a whole culture and community reviled as sectarian bigots....by who?...the real sectarian bigots!!!

  10. There is no way on earth that if this situation was the other way around they'd be so lax about this!!! There'd be public enquiries, sanctions meted out, police condemnation of everything Rangers, sfa threats and even governmental intervention....oh wait....some of that's already happening and some of it has still to pass!!!

I cannot for the life of me understand why this is playing out like this...it's fucking mind boggling!!!

The condemnation of hibs and its fans is weak, meek and feeble!! The condemnation of Us is TOTALLY unjustified!!! Does anyone think there's something untoward about this? (Sarcasm obv)

PFA, the same PFA that Daviid Gray from hibs is a member of?

The same David Gray that was on the park and i all likliness seen exactly what happened to our players?

Pish statement, no where near cutting enough, and doesn't even single out the hibs fans as the cause of the problems.

Tbf, they don't have a duty to apportion blame to hibs fans but THEY DO have a duty to protect their members! This is where a complete dereliction of duty lies at their door....by calling it "threats and intimidation" and failing to call it what it was....assault, spitting, coin throwing, threats and intimidation...they have actually let every footballer in Scotland down!!

  12. All the very best for the future Nicky....I really had high hopes for you in the beginning but it quickly became obvious you were pretty shite in Royal Blue!

It can never be said that you didn't get umpteen chances to show what you could do...sadly it didn’t work out!!

    We move onwards and upwards!!!

  13. When the PFA, which is a body set up to protect footballers in this country ffs, fail to deliver a true, accurate and fair statement on what occurred on the field of play then they have FAILED MISERABLY in their duties....no surprise it was Rangers players they failed....this is now the norm apparently!!!

If I were a Ranger I'd revoke my membership with the PFA...if that's possible!!!

Fraser Wishart...what a cretinous wee wanker!!!

Well to be fair mate, my Da says we chased them all over Hampden

I like your da mate?! He's right, I remember it well but it wasn't all one sided but you'd think it was going by what the BBC chose to show today! Which is my whole point....these fuckers are attempting to show Rangers fans in an equally bad light when it was clearly the fault of the celtic fans then (they ran onto the pitch to goad us then as well) and the hibs fans at the weekend!!

  15. The footage chosen by the BBC in the piece showed Rangers fans leathering celtic fans from the 1980 Scottish Cup Final. The only celtic fans shown were victims of attacks from Bears!! NO BALANCE!!! AND WHOLLY INACCURATE!!!

Similarly, they concentrated their footage on Rangers fans reacting to hibs fans (us singing TBB...a sectarian song in their opinion), again...NO BALANCE!!! AND WHOLLY INACCURATE!!!

They did condemn hibs supporters briefly for entering the field of play and attacking Rangers players...but they HAD NO CHOICE but to do that as it was so bloody obvious their behaviour was worthy of condemnation!!!

If this is their idea of 'fair and balanced' reporting then they can fuck right off!!!

There is something deeper and more sinister going on here though, and make no fucking mistake about it!!! I have felt this as a feature of Scottish life for a while now..especially since 2012 but the imbalanced reporting and bile coming from the rest of the Scottish football 'community' against our Club and Bears is deplorable and puzzling in equal measure! This has left me in NO DOUBT we ARE DETESTED and they're out to get us!!! That may sound paranoid but, more than ever, the evidence is there for Our Great Club and all Bears alike to see....hence the strongly worded response from our Board!!! About fucking time btw!!!

I await with interest to see what comes of this sad state of affairs...more vilification of Rangers and Bears, I suspect!!!

We need to mobilise as a fan base, BACKED by the Club to find a way of punishing every club in Scotland...the SFA....the media and last, but not least, the Scottish government (at the ballot box)....let's get these fuckers out of power!!! They're damaging this country and, in the process, punishing us for our traditional support for the Union!!!
